Server-side Hotfix 0.7.2, Helicopter status and server info
Ander (DayZ) replied to Vipeax's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
It's not allowed to shutoff servers to protect your gear. This is a warning, next time your vehicles and items on that server will be wiped. -

@Suspenselol, how about tents gear and items in vehicles on your server? i also have the same heli save problem and gear in vehicles or tents is only saved as long the server is running... so wtf is going wrong? -
I know there are many problems with server restarts and vehicles, but I havn't read about this happening before. Friend & me found a hilux yesterday, we almsot fully repaired it & only needed engine parts and 2 more wheels. We found those, but the server restarted. We came back to the hilux n it was completely broken again & everything we stored in it already was gone even though we saved it for sure. So we didn't care that much & tried to fix it again. We found the other parts pretty easily (luckily) & got going. We drove around with it for about 5 hours. Then we saved it, logged off & went to bed. Few hours later, we come back & it's gone, back at its spawnpoint completely broken without our gear :| We checked some other spawns & every vehicle was back there again aswell. So is this a known issue? Or is it something that's probably related to the server we were on? We didn't have this issue in the past with vehicles.

To make a long story short me and 2 friends running around up north looking for camps found a UAZ and drove around looking for more stuff up there; as we were driving we saw a white off road vehicle with one of the admins in it called Sheriff.m3th so I got out and took the front tire out and he insta gets out and combat logs (lol, nice life) so we take the vehicle and about 5 minutes further east we find their actual camp with a URAL, ATV and a Motorcycle. Obviously now we have 3 of us and 5 vehicles we loot everything we want out the URAL/tents and flatten them and then decide to blow up the URAL and White offroad with a satchel charge from the URAL. As we are moving all the vehicles to a safe place for detonation all 3 of us get kicked from the server our names were 'MIKE TYSON' , 'BROCK LESNAR' and 'judelaw'. After we change profile/names go back in and destroy the URAL/offroad witht a satchel charge. Log onto their teamspeak to ask why they were kicking us from the server and the 'Sheriff.m3th' guy said we were cheating when I asked him why he thought that he said we had to have been cheating to find their camp. Another player on the teamspeak called 'Unorthodox' said he can do what he wants with his server and if it gets blacklisted he will just buy a new one as he is 'incredibly rich'. If you just look through the sheer amount of topics regarding admin abuse on UK117 it amazes me they have not had their server blacklisted yet. Also lol @ this 'Sheriff.m3th' guy telling us his version of events 'My tire went out, I didnt see who did it so I just logged out, I wanted to save my SVD Camo I just got, You would have done the same'. Nah bro, we have never combat logged - a guy dropping from a hacked chopper took all 3 of us out with godmode on EU #404 yesterday after I put 40 FAL rounds into his back. Did we log out? Nah we just restarted on your server and took all your stuff instead. Got the same gear back in a few hours, no big deal, shame you had to lose all your vehicles/tents though. Unlucky boys. http://imgur.com/a/mC37a#0 Contains 4 screenshots with evidence. Can get the other two kicked screenshots included aswell if needed + video footage.

US 1436. Hacked in heli, crew with G36 with Tracer rounds. (VIDEO)
nik21 replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Firing 200 bullets in the air doesen't that neccessarily mean that you hit the chopper/the crew. You are abviously one of the guys who have never seen Chernarus from above and I haven't seen a single G36 in this video. The UH-1H is firing luminous trace ammunition by default out of his 2 M240's. It is indeed easier to spot people or vehicles from above since there's a lower LOD. So I just don't see the point why to call these guys hackers or something. -
We setup our own private server and have been having a blast...
ZedsDeadBaby replied to mbcb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I would love for you to find that source because the one I have, the DayZ FAQ basically says "No. Get off the coast or go play another game." As for the OP nobody is claiming you're ruining their experience, they're just a bit bemused that you can enjoy DayZ without its core component. Zombies, especially in their current state, are an absolute joke with more than one player. So you and your friends are basically playing a game whose core mechanics are "pick stuff up" and "drive vehicles around in order to pick stuff up." If that's honestly what you guys enjoy, and you can make it interesting long term, then more power to you. But you will forgive me if I think that says something about your appreciation of the finer points of game design. -
Oh no I didn't. It said here in the guidelines screenshots are optional. I also think it's a bit hard to proof things with screenshots.. a guy flying or 3 vehicles next to eachother don't really proof anything. So I figured it was possible to look through some kind of server log that logs player commands or something... He's probably still hanging out in that server though.. so if you see any vehicle there it's probably him.

We setup our own private server and have been having a blast...
boxman80 replied to mbcb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm pretty sure I read something official somewhere that said at some stage the PVE server option will be more viable and separate from the PvP hive. So while I can see why those in favour of PvP (I myself quite enjoy the PvP element) may be dubious the PvE option should still be a possibility, there just needs to be restrictions on goodies (vehicles, weapons, supplies, kit etc) transferring. Also I'd just like to add just because YOU don't like a particular method/mode of play doesnt mean it shouldn't be included or accommodated somewhere, this is a SANDBOX game after all. -
I've found loads of transport, but yeah... on higher population servers, generally ALL of the vehicles have already been hoarded away. ProTip (since I quit that server and the stuff is probably still there) on US 1192 server, I have a camp NW of the NW airfield near the crossroads between the airfield and the edge of the map. I can't remember the grid coordinates just now, but you can find 2 ATVs there and a bunch of tents full of gear. I had a red Skoda and a dirt bike too, but lost them due to some misfortunate accidents and server bugs, combined with some fag-ass hiding in a tree that can apparently see in perfect darkness from 100's of meters away. ~Sol

We setup our own private server and have been having a blast...
Bulletproof Sandwich replied to mbcb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Um you do know this game is NOT an MMO right? right? and yay for boring private servers where you just horde all the vehicles and do NOTHING after you are finished grabbing everything and shoving it in tents your server must be "fun" -
Is the military offroad spawning in version 1.7.2.4?
-eleminatrix- posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have been hearing about military offroads not spawning after 1.7.2.3 . I would just like to know if they spawn in 1.7.2.4 because there are no other high end vehicles other than the UAZ, URAL, and the V3S civilian. Please help? -
The admin on this server is restarting the server when their clan members are getting killed. Just last night when 2 of the KIA members got killed the server instantly went into restart mode, here is the stats on the server restart= DayZ 7 Chernarus 2012-07-29 22:19 2012-07-29 22:19 DayZ 19 Chernarus 2012-07-29 19:31 2012-07-29 22:18 The admin is also restarting the server whenever one of their vehicles is either flipping over or starting to get damaged, so it flips back or repairs itself. The whole KIA clan is also duping items like ghillie suits, nvgs, rangefinders, ammo, dmrs, etc etc, you name it, they have duped it. These restarts happen alot on this server, atleast 5 times per day. When the admin restarts the server, alot of the collected gear and items im finding and putting in the tent vanishes due to these restarts. Is there anything that can be done against them? like a global ban or?

Getting 10-20 players together
EvilFurryOne (DayZ) replied to cyles99's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Heya, we advertised the mod on our local computer forum and many people bought the game. Looking at the statistics ca 83 members have been on the server we call home. And at rare peak times there can be up to 15-20 guys on line. But even if our voice coms holds 20, it means ca 10 might be playing together as a group, with few others roaming nearby. Few members are lone wolf types who enjoy finding camps and vehicles for the rest of us, few are out to pvp and many just love to do something in the game as a group Now let's say you have 10 people in a group and you are closing in on electro to loot it out. How do you stay alive? You need to communicate constantly where you are and what are you doing without it becoming voice spam. You can be sure you either get shot at right away or they run away. Sadly I really don't see much co-existence with other players if you roaming with a group. Someone in your team can always shoot even an unarmed survivor. Easiest way for someone to die in our group? Approach the area from distance, get noticed and not speak on comms. Big group means less people with real combat discipline and let's face it, no one likes to die and run back to his gear. So if a question "who's walking to the powerstation firehouse over the field?!" does not get a reply in 5 seconds the person usually gets shot. Sometimes it's a new member who didn't bother to read forums to find out he also needs a mic. Sometimes it's a old timer who accidentally muted his speakers/headphones. Also you need to keep everyone informed if you are separated and approaching certaing areas. "Okey, going into Polana now", "Ah cool I just logged on near there, i'll join you". No comms might actually mean one of the shoots the other by accident Overwatch or two should be setup wherever you go and stay for longer than 10 minutes. Use tags to identify yourself. On a regular server everyone can get the other persons name and distance by mouse scrolling over them. (need to have primary and secondary weapon slots filled). On hardcore server it's going to be a lot harder to identify a team member in a city where there are 3-4 extra players looting. Suggestions: get a unique face from profile. Zombie or that blue face, maybe certain shades as well to make you even more identifiable. Knowing whole squad by their guns is hard.. and then there's the camo as well to consider. "Are we bandits or friendlies?". You pretty fast devolve into shooting first as it becomes annoying to get other gear and hold it until they get back to you. Also having goals on what to do is important. We started with just looting elektro and cherno for a bit and running between those until people wanted more, we went inland. Tent camps were setup, found the first vehicles and lost some as well. Combat is tricky when a decent sniper starts to take you out one by one. Will happen from time to time. Or when combat lines get blurry with enemies amongst your ranks. I have shot a friend just cause I didnt notice him doing the chicken dance. That was after we spotted a player near us in forest and had a firefight in which he managet to get away, so he could have been anywhere, even amongst us. Get a decent voicecom with overlay. We use Mumble and took a few tries to get the sound quality okey. Otherwise you dont know who is talking to you. To get the best gaming experience, have a squad of like 3-5 friends who you know. Big groups can get tiresome. But... yesterday we found 2 helis, sadly we lost the first one just at the same time we found the second. Group effort helped alot to get all the necessary gear to fix it and later refuel at a gas station. Pros and cons to everything eh. So, lot of banter about life in a big group, you decide if it's worth the effort. -

UK117 BAN APPEAL/ADMIN ABUSE
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Thanks:) i mean even at the moment they have taking down there server until there own clan gets on, basically they are hogging there stuff, if im not perm banned im going to literally make it my mission to sabotage there gear and vehicles! -
I am sure (at least I hope) it has already been mentioned, but item duping is extremely easy now... with tents and vehicles. Like Is aid, I figure you know about it, but if you (DEV) want more info to confirm you already know about it, just pm me please. Also (for tuning) loot drops... Chernarus seems to have LOADS of farmers who were obsessed with the collecting of axes and rotor assemblies. Rotor assemblies seem to be more common than engine blocks to cars, and the number of axe spawns is pretty nuts.

The most basic vehicle question that nobody knows the answer to!
NakaNaide replied to ForcefulCJS's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
it has always been true for me, i have never saved a vehicle after i destroyed it though and i always manage to find it where i left it on restart in whatever condition i last saved it in unless ofc someone else took it before me. i never save crashed vehicles though unless i can repair them. -
The most basic vehicle question that nobody knows the answer to!
ForcefulCJS replied to ForcefulCJS's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I used to think this too, definitely not true anymore. Ive camped vehicles that we saved before they were destroyed and they were definitely not there upon reset. I camped a crashed UH-1H today and the wreckage AND vehicle were gone on reset (you can save wreckage). The chopper was also not at its original spawn either (the chopper went straight from its spawn into the group, never try to fly without a working tail rotor lol). -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
Junos replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Their what? The best way to find a vehicle in DayZ is to wait until you see someone driving one, then shoot the driver and take it. :) A couple days ago my team was just fending off zombies in a building in Vybor when a guy drove by in a bus about 75 meters away. A few rounds from my M4A1 CCO SD and he never knew what hit him. We've been to Zeleno, Cherno, and places in between. Be careful, though: it's too easy to hit the Eject button and die. Vehicles are death traps, anyway! The only vehicle I want to get in this game is an M1A1! (I know there isn't one.) -
We were playing on a new server that had only been up for a few days (3-4) we had checked ALL the heli spawns, there were none. We had found a few vehicles and had a small convoy going, when coming back down from the north we encountered a heli, after unloading over 100+ rounds into it with my M249 SAW and also getting seen and shot at through tree cover the chopper landed and dropped off its gunner who apparently had a G36 (hacked in) and was shooting tracer rounds, after hearing that he was getting shot through trees and was getting hit with "dead on" shots we believed that they were using hacked in weapons and aim-boting so we left. :c We were checking the player list every 10-20 minutes keeping an eye on player numbers and only saw these [sKD] guys join about 10 minutes before the chopper showed up, we had NOT seen them playing any other time we were on the server for the past 4 days. the names of the two players were [sKD]faRfaN http://www.gametrack...9.229.103:2302/ [sKD]S1mba 10 minutes later they left the server, and after google'ing their names and finding their game tracker pages i saw that they have server hoped to about 3 different servres, why swap to different servers if you have a WORKING heli, only reason i can think of is if they hacked it in and got bored and left. As you can see in the video they could see me and were shooting me through the tree's and didn't really mind me putting 100+ bullets into them with an M249.. http://youtu.be/FunncgxEX04

The idea: I love it and I would really like to see ACRE integrated into DayZ. In-game radios are the only solution to chat abuse or the need for external VOIP services like Skype or TeamSpeak (or Ventrilo, or Mumble, or ...) Problem 1: Although ACRE is very simple to setup, especially with SixUpdater, it does require some extra things for the user to do to make it work. I've seen a lot of people struggle with the DayZ setup (and even ARMA2 itself!), so another mod with it's unique install might scare of some people. Problem 2: Using ACRE in-game is not very easy, even the controls are hard (CTRL + SHIFT + Q to show the radio :o) and will require some training before someone can use it. Since DayZ is still an Alpha I don't see any training missions soon, but might be handy and will be required when ACRE is implemented. Problem 3: The system used by ACRE, by defining unique classnames for each radio, instead of ID's by DayZ, is a technical problem which isn't fixed overnight. Each radio is unique and should be saved as an unique item at the database (which creates a lot of problems). Also, the items are unique per server, not at the HIVE, so they could never become persistant. For DayZ ACRE needs to be rewritten so it uses ID's (again) and store all the data to this ID (like channel information). Otherwise it would be impossible to store all the data at the HIVE, and will will make them even less useful then vehicles and tents (which already are server bound). However, this means every player must spawn with it's own unique radio and can't be used by others. And that's something terrible, since ACRE allows you to carry multiple radios and even use them all at the same time (like 1 left ear, 1 right ear or simply switching radios). Problem 4: ACRE requires all players (at least at a single server) to be at the same Teamspeak server and channel, otherwise it won't work. This either means that DayZ must have it's own 10000000 slots TS server, or must have a clever method to make TS switch servers automaticly when you change servers in-game and use the TS server of the server hoster. The first option is simply impossible, not to mention the costs. The second option might be possible (although the server hosters need to handle more data and CPU cycles), but requires some heavy coding between ARMA2 and TS. Conclusion: I really hope that DayZ will feature some kind of in-game VOIP which works at a way we all like, but I fear that ACRE isn't the solution. Of course, ACRE could (and should) be used as a general guideline for how it could (and should) be done. As the rumors say; ARMA3 will have radios which are similair to ACRE, so hopefully the dev's are able to use that code in DayZ.

Hackers on US 933 [ NOW ACTIVE ]
SollemNRomanHD replied to SollemNRomanHD's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I found their vehicles and gear north of Olsha hill. ( NE airfield ) Somewhere east of that barn. Why does battleeye doesn´t fix this? Because it's played by so much people. They must just not allow other scripts than what's in the game. simple as that. ( No probably not just simple as that, i have no idea of scripting) I don't know if i want to play this anymore since i died now 2 times in a row by hackers... Also off-topic. Someone on Skype with the name of Recentis is using hacks. He is not the hacker but his friend is. ( I don't know his friend.) When recentis started spawning stuff i deleted him as friend. ( I was recruiting squad mates.) -
Put dev time into standalone rather than Arma II. [Rocket] [Future standalone] [Arma II Limitations]
ENSLAVER replied to ENSLAVER's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The physics will be a major plus, specially with ragdoll and vehicles. ps. Imagine a horde of zombies running out of the darkness in this image: -
ODoyle I second that. Military bases should also be littered with them here and there, and maybe military vehicles can have them occasionally too. It even makes sense to have a radio in the fire station & hospital. They shouldn't be too common I guess, but enough for some early in-game communication that doesn't get you instantly sniped o.O I once found a GPS but no radio yet. That doesn't mean they don't exist tho
