    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.5

    Fixing loot storing such as tents and vehicles should be prioritised as it is the main cause of the game, to stack up on supplies and survive.

    DMR or M107?

    DMR, ammo's more common. M107 would be stored and we'd use it against vehicles.
  3. The other day myself and a buddy got into a firefight with two other players. We had a bus, fully repaired 100% ready to go. We started driving off when two guys each in a tractor drove down the road. Of course a firefight ensued. We were out in an open field trying to get back to the road from where we hid the bus while we repaired it. Ultimately they were able to destroy the buss with small arms fire. This should not be possible! I, in turn focused fire on both their tractors and with 2 clips of ammo from an M4A1 was able to destroy both of them as well. It's just not right. Small arms fire should be able to damage an engine, body, windows and tires. Perhaps cause a leak in the gas tank and make it drain but blow it up? No. Satchel charges, grenades, explosives in general should be the only things capable of destroying vehicles. This is really an issue inherent in ArmA 2 but if it can be tweaked in DayZ then it should be. My 2 cents. Thank you. For those of you wondering...we lost. They had excellent cover behind some walls down on the road. We had nothing but the bus. I managed a few shots that got them up and running for better cover but ultimately they got the final shots off and won. Regardless...they should have won a bus off that with heavy damage to repair.

    It appears that vehicles (functional or potentially functional ones, not the decorative ones) are also a source of graphical artifacts. I met up with some friends with a Heli and couldnt see anything but artifacts when looking towards it. Also I witnessed another player crash and explode a UAZ into a tree and then began seing artifacts the color of the fire it was spewing.

    Stck on loading screen

    ok i have no solution for you, but here is what i have learned so far: there are some stages, how i call it, while connecting on a server 1. there is the receiving file, mostly it's shown 41KB in size. if it takes forever i mostly disconnect there, no sense in waiting 10 minutes longer 2. when it's loaded it changes to black background and says "waiting for character to create". here is where i wait mostly 20-30 seconds until i disconnect from that server. due to the long loading time it's very common to get stuck there. 3. after that you get to the "loading". thats the part where you can't "esc" out anymore, so if it takes too long here (i wait here max 3-5 minutes) you should alt+tab (or alt f4) and force exit the game. by observing and comparing different servers you can quickly learn which one is causing problems and which is very fast and fun to play on. keeping a favorite servers list in the long run, especially when you have acquired some tents or vehicles, pays off quickly, cause you waste less time stucking in the loading screen.

    Why this mod is failing

    Jeez, banditry doesn't ruin the game, it MAKES the game! If it was PvE then there would literally be nothing to do. At times when raiding the NWAF I almost forget about the zombies due to the tension of thinking if i'm in some bugger's scope! Bandits make the game worth playing imo. And there's plenty to do when you're kitted out, (especially when in a group) like looking for admin camps, VEHICLES, just having a complete whale of a time at about 2am in the morning wasting a load of ammo and flares lighting the NWAF up... dude, the game is what you make it. If you're skyped and looking for a squad pm me and you can join my group if you like.
  7. yesterday me and my clan mates finally managed to fix up a helicopter and fly around with it a bit when hackers came into the server and killed everyone that was on at the time. we suspect that they stole the helicopter and teleported it some where off map...(this also seems to be the case with other vehicles on the server like the Ural) im wondering if theres any spot off map where vehicles can be stashed and not be destroyed or are we just retarded and never been able to find these vehicles anywhere (not even with the helicopter) on map.
  8. I don't own my own PC but still love watching others play, so to fill the time when I watch my friend play, I write battle reports. My friend and I were just getting our first hours in DayZ when I started logging. DayZ log 30 June 2012 Survivors: Gnurkel: AKM, Czech back pack stocked up with ammo, food and drink Bengt: Winchester, M1911 and Czech back pack stocked with medical supplies It's a daytime server, but the times are local. Incident 01 - The Car 01:10 When approaching a small village, my friends spot a car standing in plain sight on the road not far from a barn. I'd be wary of approaching a car in the open like that. They were too, so they hung back in the treeline discussing wether it was safe or not. After the chat they decided that they'd just run for it. Looking back they hear gun shots go off, but there was no way to tell if it was aimed against zombies or aimed at the car. 01:20 At last they find some empty Jerry cans in another barn outside Kozlivka, but filling the car is going to be a problem. 01:46 Driving off road for a bit, they finally get to the gas station in Zelenogorsk. They have some trouble opening the gate to the large gas tanks because of some glitches. The gate just opens traight trough the car. The solution is to drive the car out of the way. Bengt is outside the tank trying to fill the Jerry can, when he suddenly cries out. He's out cold, bleeding badly. WTF? Gnurkel hurries to the rescue, binds his wounds and gets Bengt up and going again. With no shots fired, they decide it's another glitch - hopefully. After a few more weary moments, they finally get the car filled up, and start discussing their next objective. Bengt: Well, we've both got what we need. How about going to the airifield and stock up on better guns? Gnurkel agrees. The plan is to take the back road from Myshinko to Lopatina, and then back down through Vybor to get to the airport. The rationale being that everybody's heading straight to Vybor or Kabanino to get to it. 01:54 The trip is nice and uneventful until they arrive at Vybor. Suddenly shots are heard. Bengt veers away and out into a field like he's got military training or something. They try to localize the threat, but Bengt just keeps driving until they both feel safe. Luckily the UAZ isn't too bad at driving off road. Incident 02 - Looting the Airport 01:57 They're now getting close to the airport, so they decide to hide the car in the bushes as it has been rumored that there are car thiefs about... Only at this point they discover that the car actually has some extra equipment, so they take just what they'll need and store the rest. 01:59 As they get close to the wire fence surrounding the airport, Gnurkel reports several zombies. Bengt asks him to look out for other players. Soon they arrive at the southeren barracks. 02:00 Bengt: Cover me while I get inside. Gnurkel: Can't... Got a Z after me! Gnurkel manages to get off a burst at the zombie, but he's not quick enough so before the zombie is dead, it manages to wound Gnurkel. Anyway, since the threat is gone, he patches up and keeps watch outside. In the mean time, Bengt has found something inside. Bengt: Nice! Here's an M4. There's also a sniper weapon here, but no ammo. Outside Gnurkel also discovers something. Gnurkel: Is that a tent? There's no stuff in it, but I'll save it non the less. In the process, Gnurkel aggros more Z's. Bengt tells him to come inside to finish them off, as it's both easier to hit them, and more quiet. 02:05 When they've finished looting the barracks, they proceed to the tree line in front of the runway. They hunker down and take time to survey the area and the closest hangars before moving in. Bengt: You have to be really careful here. There can be people anywhere, and if there are, they can see you coming from a long way away. Bengt takes the lead, and Gnurkel follows as they make their way over the field to the runway. In the middle of the runway, Gnurkel spots something and takes out the binoculars to check it out - much to Bengt's dismay. Bengt: Mind your silhuette, Gnurkel! If there's a sniper nearby and he sees us in the middle of the runway, we're fucked. 02:12 They make their way to the first hangar. Bengt: OK Gnurkel, if you see another player pop out here, just empty your mag into him. Don't take any chances. 02:14 Bengt: Shots fired! Was that you? Gnurkel: No. Obviously they're not alone. Still Bengt is forced to dispatch a few Z with his M1911 as he stumbles upon them around a corner. They don't find much in the hangars, except for an AK74. 02:18 It's the last hangar before the control tower. It's empty and most likely there are other players just nearby, so they go as slow and careful as they can. It's time for the last leg up to the fire station. 02:20 Bengt has reached the inside of the fire station, and Gnurkel is right behind him. Suddenly shots are fired. Bengt goes down. Bengt: I'm hit! Seconds after, bullets ricocheting around Gnurkel who immediately runs for cover. Luckily, there's a car wreck just in front of him. Bengt: There's two of them! No, three! No, zombes that ran after he sound. Damn it, I'm unconscious and bleeding. Come quick! But it's impossible to reach Bengt as Gnurkel is pinned down behind the car wreck. He's also taken a bullet which he bandages. Before he can think of anything else, Gnurkel is beamed back to the last hangar. Gnurkel: What the fuck just happened? I'm back at the hangar! Bengt: A glitch or hackers? Well, I'm dead anyway, so just log the fuck out before somethong worse happens. --- DayZ log 3 July 2012 Incident 03 - Gathering The Crew 21:33 A few days have passed until Gnurkel log in again. He's looking for his friends who're supposed to be in the area. While rummaging around near a brick wall in Vybor, he get's a gleeful message from Bengt. Bengt: You could have been dead now, Gnurkel. Got you in my sights. He was hiding in the treeline above the house Gnurkel was searching, fully geared up with a ghillie suit and a sniper rifle. However, while crossing a corner, Gnurkel gets surprised by a military zombie. He makes a run for it, and starts up a field and into some bushes. As luck would have it, he runs straight into the car again. Gnurkel: Hey, look! The car is still here! He promptly dispatches the Z, and meets up with Bengt. 21:37 They check the car, but all the gear is gone. Yet just having a car is in itself no small victory. But they joy is short lived. Gnurkel suddenly spots multiple zombies coming their way. He shoots two of them, but more are coming. Gnurkel: It's crawling with Z here! I think we should get away. Another message comes in. Timmi: Hey guys! Where you at? He's at the North West end of the airport while his friends Deetee and Overdriv are at the southern barracks. 21:45 While Gnurkel makes his way North East towards the airport, he sees someone in the treeline and goes prone. Shots are fired and chaos ensues. Nobody knows what's going on. Further up Deetee also goes prone near the wire fence at the barracks while Gnurkel keeps observing. At the north end, Timmi reports seeing someone moving westwards. 21:47 Gnurkel starts moving again and crosses the road while heading towards the barracks. Bengt is still by the car. Timmi is still moving towards them, but got unlucky and aggroed some Z. One of the other fellows also break his leg, but it is quickly mended. Nobody found out who fired the shots, and luckily the only hurt anybody got were from Z. 21:52 At last Gnurkel arrives at the barracks, but everyone seems to have gathered at the car. He's got an empty water bottle, but needs help getting it filled. When it's done, he checks the houses and heads back to his friends with some loot. 21:56 There is still a lot of Z around the car, and Gnurkel comes in guns blazing. Gnurkel: Zombie kill! With the other friends also there, it doesn't take long before all the Z are taken care of. Deetee had poor luck finding food, so he asks if anybody have any leftovers. Deetee: Anybody got some food to spare? I'm really wondering what there is for dinner today. There we are, Pasta! Timmi has also arrived. He looks bad ass with a warrior hat and a rifle with thermic sights. 21:58 After reorganizing some loot, they finally get ready to leave. Here's the crew: Timmi: Bad ass guerilla dude with an OP thermic weapon Deetee: Regular survivor always ready with a funny remark Bengt: Ghillie-clad soldier ready to snipe anything that move Sarr: Very discrete and careful sniper-wielding hunter Gnurkel: Providing medical services and general mayhem Overdriv: Regular survivor providing great backup Incident 04 - Gung Ho! 22:00 The plan is to check for more vehicles and the go Gung Ho back to the airport. With so many people they were sure to overrun it. Sarr had found an ATV earlier, and hidden it somewhere up a backroad to the east, so they head there in the car. While moving Gnurkel comments that the car looks like quite the sausage fest. It doesn't take long to find what they were looking for. Bengt and Sarr argue over who will drive the car, and then they're off. 22:07 They make their way to the north of the air strip, and Gung Ho their way to the fire station. Gnurkel: Ho-ah, this is the A Team! Inside the fire station, Sarr finds a ghillie suit. But they soon get aggro from multiple Z. Deetee: There's a party going outside! The Z's come in hordes, so they retreat into the fire station. They keep coming in, just like - err - zombies, and promtply they get dispatched one by one. Mostly mechanics, but one or two officers and civillians too. At last one of the team mates throw a smoke grenade outside and the zombies scatter. On the inside, more then 30 Z lay dead on the floor at the entrance of the fire station. Deetee: LOL, somebody should screenshot this! Gnurkel gets on it, but there are still Z outside. 22:12 A shot is fired and Bengt bleeds out quickly and dies. Gnurkel moves to one of the door to check outside, but BOOOM and he receives a shot right in the torso. Gnurkel: Help, I'm bleeding out! He's right in the line of fire, so nobody dares go straight to him. Timmi runs around back, but is to late. Gnurkel is also dead. Incident 05 - The Chase 22:15 At this point, everyone tries to hunker down as best they can, but as more shots come in, they panic. Somebody yells that they should all scramble for the car, and they do. Only two of them make it to the UAZ. The last two take the ATV, and the rest run for cover. They drive away as fast as they can. However, soon it dawns upon them that something might not be right. Overdriv: Who's driving the jeep? Deetee: Not me! Sarr: Me neither! Timmi: Hey, don't look at me! Sarr: Dammit, somebody try direct com! Deetee: Hey driver, could you please stop? He's answered with a string of curses. The driver was actually the sniping bandit! Deetee: I'm Batman. If you get out I promise not to rape you. The driver isn't convinced. Deetee: I have your family back in my base, but if you... What? Why on earth would you want to fuck me in my face? The driver keeps at it, but the crew on the ATV keeps up the chase so he tries to go off road to shake them. He then continues to plead with Deetee to eject. Deetee: No, I cannot jump out. I will hurt my leg and I will have to crawl to a hospital. Dude, just stop and I will get out ... why do you say "fuck" so much? Finally the breaks, and Deetee scrambles to get out as fast as he can. Before the driver gets half a chance, he unloads everything he's got on the car, killing the driver with his Lee Enfield and blowing a tire. Deetee: Anybody have a spare wheel? I think I got him, but I destroyed a wheel in the process... I just let loose on the guy on full auto. Haha, I don't even know where he went. My God, he cursed a lot! I emptied three mags on the car, so I'm all out now. They soon met up again, ready for new adventures.
  9. Today our camp was assaulted and 4 players were killed. I managed to get a msg from one of my friends to spawn in. After i watched them destroy our camp they took off in my very hard worked for UAZ. I shot two of them, one aborted, and I killed one (Tommy). The server IMMEDIATELY restarted. Coincidence? No! If you are going to own a server WHY NOT PLAY RIGHT!? My friends and I got all those vehicles legitimately. Our group is rather angry at these 4 players. Two of witch we know (Tommy & This Game Is Hilarious) We would appreciate if you would play fair, I DONT CARE you stole our vehicles but aborting and restarting a server! Thats just plain wrong. It is our mission to now find you, take what is our back, and kill you all. Good Luck.

    Could you repair a bicycle with car wheels IRL? No. Could you repair several kinds of vehicles with the one same wheel, engine or fueltank IRL? No. These are some of the conditions for vehicles going apeshit; • You hit a DayZ Object and get stuck on it. • You hit an object and one or more of your tires goes pop and you get stuck. • Engine(Not hull) is destroyed(If orange, you might wanna consider playind 'defensively' until you find another Engine). And the usual ATV and Tractor stuff. Stay away from those 2. From my experience the safest vehicles are: 1. Ural(NOT V3S) 2. BAF Rover(Military Offroad) 3. Bus Edit: To answer the question; If a vehicle has blown up and caught fire, it CAN NOT be repaired. You will have to wait for a server restart, then the vehicle will respawn at its spawn location. On a side-note, the DayZ Wiki is full of outdated information and bullshit.
  11. Started to read and agree with OP soo much QQ about how you justify your right to take the server down... This is crap... US128, US167, US302 All U.B.C.S. servers are up 24/7 and they have been hit buy hackers and yes we have lost our gear and vehicles... However we just locked the airfield down and went hunting for Heli sites and got most of our gear back within a couple of days. All this time open to the public.. Hackers hit one server and move on.. thats all they do.. what makes you think your server is special and they will want to nuke it 24/7. They fact you have made such a song and dance about it will make you a primary target. Dealing with hackers is the job of the DEV team. If you have ppl 24/7 on your server get some to fraps 24/7. I frap every single time I play. If nothing happens I stop delete the no action content and carry on frapping, thus recycling the space on my HDD..Showing a frap of a hacker entering server and then funny goings on happening is enough to assist the devs. They blacklist thier GUID then hacker has to buy new copy of the game. YOUR job as an admin is to provide a constant world for players to interact with.. A server not being online is as bad as a passworded server ... ppl cant play on it.. The UBCS servers restart every 6 hours, this is MORE than enough to allow the server to re allocate memory and eliminate LAG. Maybe this is why US128, 167 and 302 are always in the the top rated servers out of the thousand + that are out there. Stop taking your server down and explaining your way around the TOS. A down server is as good as a PW'd server. Start acting like proper community admins. I applaud what your doing regarding the trading centre however your conduct with regards to the admin abuse (and yes taking a server down to protect your gear is abuse) needs to be dealt with swiftly. I urge the the DayZ Staff to open up dialog in private with said server hosts and eliminate this issue or post that this is either acceptable or not in the TOS thread. no names need be mentioned.

    Anyone else think vehicles shouldn't explode unless an explosive weapon is used on them, because you can shoot a cars millions of times and it won't explode. I just think it unrealistic and ruins the vehicles in game a bit.

    Caltrops.

    Caltrops are for vehicles aren't they? If so, fuck yeah! A single use patch of caltrops could be deployed on the land or road and used for hijacks, taking out all wheels at once. The obvious drawback being that the bandits would need to find four wheels to recover the vehicle. Caltrops wouldn't work on Zeds would they? Since they don't seem to be averse to pain (they don't falter or retreat when they've been shot) some tiny spikes in the ground wouldn't cause enough physical damage to stop them from walking. Players on the other hand? Caltrops could force a player to walk gingerly over the areas to avoid them, sprinting over them could cause you to prone and not be able to stand until bandaging your feet. Great for preventing enemies from attacking your base or rushing your position.

Literally just now on Sabre Recon, he just picked me up on a bus and got teleported to an open field and he just stood there aiming his gun at me, asked questions, no replies, then he shot me a few times so I just made a mad dash for it on his Quad he had lined up with other vehicles! Thought I'd got away when he teleported to me and shot me with a big ass Sniper Rifle!! Ban this prick! His name's Th3rdLeg369
  16. I think it takes a while for the heat signature to be gone but if the vehicles are lying around at a camp I would not expect them to show up. When you step on the ground with a boot does it leave enough heat for a sustained period of time for this to be realistic? Keep in mind DayZ uses the arma 2 and arma 2 oa weapons so any changes to the L85a2 would have to be made too. It would be possible for rocket to incorporate other weapons modded into the game (double barreled shotgun) but at this point I doubt the arma 2 devs would make changes to the L85a2.

    thanks DayZ DayZ has opened my mind too the fear and fun that a person can have in a game and NO game have I played in the last 21yrs has game cloce to the terror and fear of death that comes from DayZ the COD noobs would not know what I am talking about seeing as living more then 1 day for them is a feet try a month or 2 so thanks for razing the bar but the game is going down hill fast I don't blame hackers for hacking if I was on a 10" CRT monitor getting 2fps and had no skill at all I may cheat as well I blame the makers of DayZ and Battleye for giving us NO tools to combat hackers I admin a server and its near imposable to found out who the hackers are witch leads to no one getting banned or the rong person getting banned only way to make shore you get the hacker is to ban all the ppl on the server at the time of the hacking unlike COD and othere FPS games if sum one hacks thay fuck up your 10 person kill streak no big deal but on DayZ its much worse not even going to bother to go in to detail about how after a server restart with 1 person online I drove 34mills off the map once I got to where I was going like 15 ppl wer online at that time I loged off for (20mins) to eat dinner came back to find my cars tyres shot out and the 6 spare tyres in the car removed along with a AS50 this is not a solo cace me and my mates had 12 Vehicles to our names and 5 push bikes not in the same place all taken in less then 40mins and I found them all located in the same place like 6hrs latter so stole them all back and blow up any cars that was not ours or that we did not like eg the blue bus witch is why the hackers retaliated by leaving me 34mills off the map with a car I cant fix I don't blame the skill less hackers thay don't even telloport to our Vehicles till we log off becos thay would get shot I blame the fact theres no real tools to stop them I will come back to DayZ when the full game is out only if theres good anti cheat software with it but thanks I had a blast like 800hrs played for 29 bucks so grate cheap fun sorry hackers killed your game rocket and you did nothing to stop them

    Number of tents

    So I planted 2 additional tents yesterday.... My original was heavily stocked with goodies... a couple of spare aks... tonnes of food etc. The newer 2 i was just starting to fill as backups. Came on today... and all three of my tents are gone!!! :/ Guess I have to start again. Are vehicles more stable as storage points? Obviously they are considerably harder to come by.
  22. US 875. Time. 1:30-1:30PM. Players by the name of Eugene, Bubblecum, and Raysins were witnessed by both me and multiple members of my clan, hacking. First they were at our campsite way in the north, suddenly appearing out of nowhere. They took our vehicles and guns. This is no problem, I understand random encounters. However, this story does not end here. We then respawned both near Cherno, and as we began to restart our DayZ experience, they are all here. Suddenly in the city, running around and killing us with our guns. We managed to fire multiple rounds into them, and yet no sign of bleeding, no broken bones, one of our clan members even got the jump on them and laid several rounds from a high vantage point. They however still showed no signs of being hurt or dying. My second respawn happened again in Cherno, and I actively witnessed one of them teleporting around. And then "mysteriously" my clanmate repeatedly dying over and over again. We do have a Fraps video of one of our clanmates unloading an entire magazine into one of them, and still no damage to either of them. Edit: He was also using an MG-36. Which I believe is not in DayZ, but in Arma 2.

    well I figured it would be used more for a long distance use. Just because I have seen people post security on there precious vehicles while others search a town, I see this as a way for a solo player to maybe store items on his own and bikes or vehicles in the tree lines.
  24. This could be because if the restart happened very soon after changing the load in the vehicles it could be possible it wasn't saved even if you used the 'save vehicle' action. Just like the server has a lag on the save feature the same applies for vehicles. After multiple server restarts it could be possible that after each restart you need to save the vehicle otherwise vehicle contents will be wiped. But this is not proven just a possibility.   25. Specifically cars that have had their engine off for a long time. If not, how fast do cars lose their heat signatures? I know that functioning cars have heat signatures but this is important to know if you can use an l85a2 for hunting camps/ abandoned vehicles. Any other cool uses for thermal? For those who don't know the l85a2 has a laser that can be used with night vision goggles to mark targets (hit the L button and look through your scope in night vision mode). Also the l85a2 can see clearly through mist, detect zombie spawns (to see if player is near), find animals, and see residual heat from bullet holes (at least my friend said that he could). Personally I think it should see residual heat in footsteps but that feature isn't implemented as far as I know.
