Duping: 3/4 of High Level Gear is Duplicated
Stonager replied to dantoramandova's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We have a group of 8 very active players and couple more less active. We use mostly the same server where we have plenty of vehicles. Every time the server restarts some of us take cars and drive around the map to hunt heli crashes. Sometimes there are more than 5 server restarts per day. The amount of guns we get in one day is just insane... -
My reasons for taking a break from DayZ, potentially leaving.
haviv[3rdid] replied to survivor_40's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If there are additions, great. But the fun shouldn't be about additions because what will you do once there's more stuff to do and you did it already? You're just going to post another thread asking for more stuff and you'll forget about all the hard work that was put into implementing all of the previous stuff. You have all this stuff: gear, vehicles, etc. Now your task is to figure out how to use it effectively. -
This just happened to me 30 mins ago, let me know what you think. Thoughts? To explain my inventory - I got picked up by a clan members in one of our vehicles where we keep weapons etc. This is stuff we have collected over the past month. This is the reason why I have no toolbelt he literally picked me up from freshspawn and we drove up.

Yay, another admin hoarding vehicles. That's new. Isn't it.

Too many hackers to the point of not even worth the time to play?
Abaddon (DayZ) replied to Downside's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This. My group had over a dozen vehicles a few weeks ago. Most of the crew was running end game gear and we'd put a heli together on day one of the update. Then we got into a few helicopter vs helicopter air fights. Steam rolled by some guys in a black SUV. Lost the majority of our vehicles to grenade launchers and hacked helicopters. Hackers just shoot to shit any end-game play, especially if you're playing in the same server regardless of population. -
So since I bought my server, we've blown up a few cars, either from combat or just out of stupidity. I'm noticing that they're not respawning after server restarts. Is there something I'm supposed to do to make vehicles respawn at their default locations? I'm confused. Over time every vehicle will be gone and it will no longer be worth running a server. Any help would be great!

50 of every item eh? Camps are not that easy to find without vehicles and you're not finding all these camps on you're home server. That means you are either hacking in items or map hacking to find these camps and taking their gear. Either way, you're cheating.

Persistent Server - Fed up of spending so many hours working towards a goal or finding supplies and then the server crashes on you losing all your progress? Well with the DayZ server all stat's are saved to our external database so where ever you log off, whatever you have will be keep on you next time you come back in. This means you can spend however long you want doing what you want to do. As long as you don't die during the night! Found at http://dayzmod.com/?About Needs to be fixed. I always loose hours of work to server restarts. I loose my entire inventory, usually vehicles. Always tents. They sometimes come back... if the server restarts quickly enough. mostly though, I just loose everything. It is NOT saved to an external database. or not saved quick enough.

-=THE GHETTO SQUAD=- 'Shoot first, ask questions later.' Welcome to 'TheGhettoSquad', we are a group of friends that will shoot first and ask questions later, therefore making us bandits; however we don't trust anyone other than ourselves which contradicts us being bandits. For the time being we are not letting anyone else join our clan as we feel 4 of us is enough as we are just starting, however we may make an exception if you have what we need: 1) We would prefer that you come from/live in the UK and can speak English fluently. 2) You can come online quite a lot and have spare time. 3) Good team-skills. 4) Good communicator. 5) Are 15/16+ (We dislike whiny little kids.... sorry) 6) Can actually aim, and have patience. I know it sounds like an application form, but bunch them all together and we basically need mature young adult + players (not little 12 year olds) that can speak English well and can come online quite a lot. We aim to set up camp somewhere, and find ourselves a few vehicles. We are currently fixing up a UH-1H Huey which we will use for decent transportation. Basically we'd like to set up a safe-haven for our clan... somewhere to relax, talk, and be safe. The members in our clan look out for each other and watch each other's backs, our life expectancy is high and one of our members is on day 25 with perfect health. So, as I said we are not interested in new members currently, but if you really want to join and be the exception then just 'PM' me. Now WHAT is the chance of this happening!? (Forest encounter)
Zeromentor replied to vitdom's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Looks like a clan was heading somewhere. Either using that server to safely travel around (seen it before, even killed hosts of servers by their vehicles. Props to them for not kicking me or dropping the server, they know who they are) or they were heading for their campsite before the server shut down. Either way, I think you were lucky. If they liked your gun, or had any intention of killing you they would have done so, and the best you could have done is take a few down with you. -
General idea for instanced player housing/camps
xDIx Revenge replied to decoman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Very lengthy and well thought out read. I'll be sure to bookmark this and read over your comments again. From the small section of the OP i had time to read, i definitely agree on how fine a line there is in making these instanced bases more friendly to offensive/defensive situations. I do like the idea of stumbling across camps that are "deserted" as the player is logged out. But with a whole underground instance it may be more annoying losing your stuff to raiders everytime your offline. I know its the annoying thing to come back to find your tent empty, and vehicles gone because you were out all weekend. Right now we just have to put up with it, but i would love to see SOME form of balancing in the sense that defenders have a POSSIBILITY to help their stash, and defend their land. + 1 Beans for a post that wasn't just a "y u no" post. -
Trading high-tier loot for good intel on {CQF} operations
DayZ Dan replied to DayZ Dan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So today I get word that the group had found a fleet of vehicles on US20. They were freely giving coordinates of both their position and the vehicles. i had a friend who was logged out near the vehicles so he headed there, meanwhile I ran to the coordinates the group were currently at. I'm not entirely sure where they are, but suddenly I hear a shot fired. A few more shots later and I am heading directly to them. I get to where the gunshow was going down and see 5-6 guys, some ghillied, some female, being attacked by several zombies. Grenades are being thrown, laughter all around. I line up a shot on several of them from the top of the hill. I take the shots, 1 down, 2 down, 3 down, 4 down, 5 down, the other few combat logged. Because of my intel, i am aware they are now claiming they all died instantly and it was a hacker. One professes that "DayZ Dan is on the server". A higher up enters the channel to get a status report. He apparently berates them for combat logging. This reprimanders name is BussFullofNuns... Now if you recall now several days ago, i found him in the wilderness. I drove a car right on top of him and began shooting, where he combat logged and moved to another server.... the same guy yelling at others about combat logging, combat logged on me... wow. He told them {CQF} does not combat log... My sides hurt from laughter. Confirmed kills: {CQF}RCT Kai [dzrs] EpsilonPhoenix ? {CQF}PVT ian {CQF}RCT Calvin Pristine Christine added: Cruzer 2-3 others combat logged, 1 JUST before the bullet hit him. It was not a makarov, nor an M4 guys.. It was an AS50 with 10 round mag of M107, and its a rather quiet gun (not to zombies, but people). I am not hacking, I don't need to hack when you all stand about 1mm worth of mouse movement from one another, are standing still, and firing guns that are very loud in a valley that echoes. P.S. Busfullofnuns... you have never killed me, so don't tell them you have. And I didn't magically find you in the middle of nowhere, someone told me you were in the area and you had a campfire going at night... You can listen to BusFullOfNuns lie openly here: http://snd.sc/OWz68t "How can he see is, we're in ghillies! Sounds like hacks!" Bushes do not have silver revolvers and AK's coming out of them... -
Why aren't blown up cars respawning?

Event: Freeside Trading Co. Open Trading - 8/3 - 8/5
Xyro replied to Publik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"SirTai - Everyone on the server got killed by some douche hacker. When me and my friend arrived back at the location, most stuff we traded were removed from our bodies. And the FTC people were already there. They said they'd "Conduct a search." Yea...Right..." We did do an investigation and banned someone who was porting around, threw multiple gernades right before the insta kill script went out. We had multiple Freeside members spawn near Solichny (sp?) and then use one of our vehicles that we had at the factory to recover other members. "SirTai - They're pretty paranoid, mostly because they have shitty ideas regarding places to host such events. One does not simply uses the factory for an event envolving high quality gear. Other than that, they're pretty honest but slow in the negotiations, they seem to work in separate cells. I didn't see much communication/integration between them." Paranoid? Yes. Because we're a small group handling and worrying about the safety of customers and over seeing trades, while getting a stream of reports of ghosters, bandits and customers coming to the compound. This week we experimented with The Factory as a trade location (we've used two others in the past). We're trying to find a sweet spot in location, security and ease to get to for customers. We do work in seperate channels/groups on our TS, in which we have whisper lists set up between them all for constant communication. If you doubt any of this, we welcome you Bro guys to join our public channels in TS during our next op. "SirTai - Well, that's it. Satchel charge explosions, other fucked up stuff like that. Telling you to sit down, gigantic amount of dead bodies they killed, wasn't a good experience. I hope you guys improve it before I attend to another trading section. Best advice if you want to trade with them: Be objective. Don't waste time." We instruct customers to sit down to identify hostiles when they stand and to limit and prevent anyone stealing from one another, there's a reason for everything we do, even if it isn't obvious to the person on the outside looking in. There was no satchel charge explosion, if there was the factory would be leveled. There was hacked explosion sounds near the base, then gernades thrown even further away from it (the hacker who was banned in one of my previous posts). Deady bodies? Well with constant zombies spawns that happens. We killed a few turncoat customers, who unfortunatly killed some Freeside employees before they were dropped. We keep ours ops as secure, fun and profitable for customers as possible. Hackers, ghosters and spies (turncoat customers) will always be an issue, yet with every op that passes we learn and improve. Write us off if you will, but as I've mentioned previously there are many who have traded and prospered from us and we thank those people. To those of you who are true to Freeside, keep on coming out and so will we. Until next week, Xyro out. Stay safe and stay alive! -
Event: Freeside Trading Co. Open Trading - 8/3 - 8/5

The truth is Sai, we have to be paranoid, within reason. Before you guys got there we had two guys acting as a trader who lit up a trader and one of our other guys, later someone ghosted in near the traders and killed another, we have to do our best to minimise the amount if time we spend keeping an eye on the customers so we can keep an eye on the ghosters/troublemakers, every time one gets up and moves because they decide they don't like the wall, or the bit of trash next to you, it takes our attention away. As for the negotiations, we tend not to sell FTC stuff, we primarily facilitate trade between other players, sometimes our members may trade if it is quiet which today it most certainly was not. During the event we were hacked 3 times if not more, once we had a boat spawned on a member, then the server was mass instagib'd and we all re-spawned ran back and continued (at which point I actually ran with you and said we would do our best to get your stuff back) and finally the entire servers vehicles (including our own) were moved to our location and blown up. We don't even think it's one person, we ban every hacker we can unless they have a lot of money for new keys. We didn't have to keep the server up or even continue the trading event after that, the usual protocol is to shut the server down (which would have despawned your bodies) and deal with the hacker. However I will be the first to say that our communication needs work, it is No 1 priority at the moment and moves are being made to improve it, how you know how / how well we communicate though I would like to know. I could go on but I think you get the idea, I am sorry to everyone who was involved that was killed by the hackers and to Sai/his group who lost some valuable equipment. I did donate some FTC and personal equipment to those who had nothing at all, unfortunately we can only do so much. See above, if we hacked none of that would be an issue. -
Vehicles shouldn't be rare. Let the experiment continu.
Lupin-III replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There were very few vehicles in Chernarus in the ARMA campaign too. There aren't parking lots, there aren't driveways... this is meant to be a small rural country. The few vehicles that people did own would have been used to get the hell out of dodge in the early days of the outbreak. Tractors could be more common though. To me it just makes sense that they're as rare as they are. -
For people complaining about the TYPE of weapons present... May I remind you of this obvious fact that you are all missing: Chernarus is supposed to be a part of NATO, and use a lot of NATO gear, as well as Russian gear and vehicles. Finding high end NATO style weaponry in their bases would NOT be out of place. In fact, for all the people saying "you wouldn't find this much shit", stop for just a moment and think. Do you think in the event of a zombie apocalypse weapons, equipment, etc, would spontaneously disappear? No. It would be either in the hands of some person, or laying somewhere. Even if it was six months AFTER the apocalypse, the weapons would still be laying around. If anything, from a realism standpoint, there's not ENOUGH Shit laying around. In the USA there's HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of firearms! In my house alone, there are two shot guns and four rifles. In one friend's house there are three or four handguns, and a four or five rifles/shotguns. If I start tallying up JUST the people I know in and around my town, I quickly turn up DOZENS of firearms, not counting knives, swords, etc. Every house isn't going to have a weapon, no. But A LOT of them will. In a country that doesn't have civilian carry, it just means the weapons would be concentrated in LARGE quantities in and around military bases, camps, and battlegrounds. So.... Enough.

battle loggers, hoppers, campers, carstashing
Krashtak replied to angrybold's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As far as battlelogging is concerned there is only so much that can be done. I agree it breaks realism, and is super cheap, but the problem comes in when you consider the fact that it is a networked persistent game with huge penalties for death. The fact that it is networked means that disconnects (due to client or server side issues) will occur, and differentiating between legitimate disconnects and force quits is somewhat difficult. If you keep players logged in after disconnects, the first time they disconnect in a town and come back dead could be the last time they play the game, due to the harsh penalties of death. And if you let people disconnect in battle all it does is make people complain about exploiters, which probably won't lose them many players. Server hopping is relative, sure you can find a vehicle but then you drive it and explode it and then whatever it's not like you can take it to a home server or anything. And weapon spawns are quite random and logging over and over to find a gun can sometimes take longer than actually finding one, so whatever there too. It's what some people do, there's no real damage in letting it continue. Camping... it's going to happen, you can't stop it. They put sniper rifles in a huge environment and open up PvP, what do you expect? Spawning zombies on top of players out in the wilderness is just totally random and would actually kill the game for a lot of people, including non-snipers. I actually enjoy the suspense of not knowing if someone is in that other tree line across the clearing. Car stashing is pretty lame, and there are several ways to prevent that. I honestly don't think that the game would hurt by having a lot more spawns. Only a couple vehicles being spawned does make their rarity a great source of value and accomplishment when you actually find them, but I'm not sure what would be more fun: finally finding that helicopter and securing it for your group, or having 5-6 so clans could get in some serious firefights during "endgame" play. Final note: Games are meant for fun. They target an audience. Some audiences seek what they consider to be "realism." When a developer targets this type of audience, good design doesn't lead them towards making everything more realistic. Good design always leads towards creating the most fun experience possible for it's target audiences. Realism is only a tool that provides plausibility and immersion, which for many, provide fun. Many gamers tend to forget that games are designed for multitudes of people, not a single individual. Beyond that, many things that players desire are nigh impossible for a developer to actually accomplish with any relative efficiency. -
He also went to my camp and flattened my tents and destroyed these vehicles: GAZ, Red Sedan, Offroad Truck, S1023,Motorcycle and bike. One bike was left but the tires are out and the hull is messesd the fuck up.

Those stats are from the regular Arma2 game as well. You see kills, deaths the vehicles are the number of vehicles you've destroyed that are enemy owned and the number of aircraft that are enemy owned. In this mod, the vehicles may be considered "friendly" vehicles so when you destroy them, it actually counts as detroying a friendly vehicle. In regular Arma2, if you are Blufor, and kill an Opfor vehicle, you get a +1. If you are Blufor and destroy a Blufor vehicle you get a -1 in that category.
-
Thanks for the replies i had always planned for the map i know a great map that shows everything. im also going to have all gun stats all towns and cities. list of vehicles and what you need to repair them. also equipment, consumibles, how to find north, key locations, blood, temp., and survival tactics, and more. if you want anything else tell me. thanks for the fast responses!
-
I've had both happen. A bus with some gear/loot in it along with an ATV disappeared after a server restart, along with everyone's vehicles on that server as the next restart brought a batch of all new freshly spawned vehicles at their spawn point, found a tractor and barely tapped a tree with it and it exploded and almost killed me. Next server restart I go back to where the exploded tractor was at and it's back to the state it was in before it exploded. Tents and vehicles are so very messed up and very unstable at the moment.
-
you don't have to save it every few hours. (not sure where you got that idea) save it once and it should be there. BUT keep in mind that vehicles are very bugged at the moment and there are times when they just disappear for no reason at a server restart. If that happens, sometimes they come back when the server restarts again but sometimes they don't.
-
kind of a funny question because I've just had vehicles disappear for no reason what so ever after a server restart. I've never had one blow up and then show back up where I last saved it.
