Server US 216 - Admin Abuse
AlkwardzzSeaturtlzz replied to Zike's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Alright well I'm an admin of us 216 and the powers admins have are: ban, kick, restart server, lock the server, and talk in global. We can't teleport players or spawn in items, vehicles, or buildings you got teleported to the thunderdome. Which is a pvp area where every gun in the game spawns and helis. Please stop saying admins can do this because they cannot, I have been trying to ban the hackers but when people like you post these stupid threads it wastes my time and everyone elses. -
Destroyed vehicles are suppose to spawn at random extra time. To prevent people from blowing up vehicles, if they fuck them up. And have them magicly show up in better condition on the next server restart. (sorry about the "7 days", mixed things up abit) <--- http://dayzmod.com/f...ide-2012-06-16/

I'm of the opinion that a lot of gameplay issues I see being complained about stem primarily from survival being too easy, and death becoming relatively inconsequential. Right now, the only thing standing between you and survival in Chernarus... is the threat of death by other players. If you were to take them out of the equation, the likes of Elektrozavodsk and Chernogorsk would simply be risk-free safe havens where food and water are plentiful. Even ignoring the use of tents and vehicle storage, gearing up as a freshly spawned survivor is pretty easy as things stand. Run to Cherno or Elektro, sprint through all the high yield buildings, then head for the hills. Zombies are trivial to escape from, and if you get shot by another survivor you can just try again - it's not terribly difficult to make it out alive, and there's not much at stake by this point. Once you're out of the city, you've basically survived. More food and water is obtained without difficulty, avoiding players becomes easy when you avoid the player hotspots, there is pretty much no challenge to survival at this point. So we create our own challenge by seeking out PvP combat, looking for items that we don't really need but want for the sake of having them, hunting for hoarded vehicles to joyride, and so on. It gets worse when persistent storage is considered - not only is there no challenge to surviving, there's also little consequence to death when you can run back to your/somebody else's camp and rearm yourself with high-end gear. It seems peculiar to me that zombies and survival have become something of an irrelevance in DayZ. I would like to see a considerable increase in the difficulty of dealing with zombies: it should be hard to avoid detection, but it should be even harder to deal with. Currently I can gear up pretty well in Cherno without having to so much as attack a single zombie, so there's not a massive incentive to check out other, lower-yield locations. I'd love to see a scenario where newly spawned players are generally forced to raid smaller villages where lower zombie counts make it easier to avoid aggro, due to the big cities being utter deathtraps unless you're in a group or seriously well-armed. I'd suggest increasing zombie numbers, improving their eyesight and hearing further, reducing the ease of losing aggro, and maybe giving them the ability to hit you while you're sprinting away. Surviving by hunting animals would need to be made harder to avoid being an easy route to survival, this could perhaps be achieved by having random zombie spawns in forests (which would also make travelling between locations more interesting). Admittedly, the awful pathfinding of the zombies as things stand could make dealing with them frustrating for the wrong reasons under those circumstances, but I genuinely think something needs to be done. Right now zombies are only useful for locating other players, and as a replacement for the Respawn button. How human civilisation fell apart as a result of such harmless creatures is beyond me! Hopefully the effect of such changes would make supplies much harder to come by, thereby having an impact on the way people play. I'd love to see players murdering each other out of desperation for supplies, forming fragile alliances to loot cities out of necessity, and working hard for every hour of survival. Right now I generally only kill for the thrill of combat, and while I don't think there's anything wrong with that, it shouldn't be the primary driver of conflict. Kills are more exciting when they have meaning. In keeping with the theme of making DayZ survival more difficult, I would also suggest removing tents and persistent vehicle storage. I know that suggestion will probably lead to a lot of angry responses, but ask yourself, what are they being used for? What purpose do your own tents serve during your character's life? If you ignore duplication exploits, then their only useful purpose is storing excess food/water that you don't want to carry around everywhere, and items such as vehicle parts that you don't need in your backpack until you find one. Finding food and water is so easy that you don't really need a tent for storing them currently, and I believe it should become so hard that you're unlikely to have a surplus. When tent hunting I very rarely find them containing vehicle parts, so what are they being used for? Let's face it, their primary use comes into play after your character has died. Tents are used to enable a new player to acquire high-end gear rapidly, either as a result of their work in a previous life, or somebody else's. In my opinion this runs counter to the premise of DayZ, and goes some way to removing the excitement and tension experienced in dangerous situations. If we want DayZ to be a real challenge to players, and for there to be consequences to our actions, then persistent storage simply needs to be removed. It doesn't add much to gameplay, and so long as it exists players will find a way of using it to dodge the consequences of death. Not only that, it would also drastically reduce the ability to duplicate items and have huge numbers of high-end items proliferate across the player base (I come across so many tents with numerous AS50s now), and might even help discourage vehicle hoarding and get people actually using them. tl;dr: DayZ is too easy, make it brutally unforgiving. This is the apocalypse after all.

US 366 Chicago, banned during gunfight.
mahatmajonny replied to katt's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Ok, everyone's going crazy here. There's no point in arguing about what did or did not happen. Most of you weren't there and the admins are the only ones not going off of memory because we have access to the logs. The fact is that Days of Doom did d/c during combat. We also have evidence that he ghosted onto Mr. White's body when he spawned in. Mr. White may not have spawned in that bike like we thought. It also looks like he didn't disconnect after taking fire like some other players reported. There's a gap in our logs because there was a server restart minutes before the incident occurred, so we can't fully track the history of the bike. Circumstantially, we ran into two hackers at your tents. One of them flew a chopper directly there, crashed ontop of them and respawned on the spot. The other was invisible and spawning vehicles at your tents. The first day we found your tents you guys had an ATV, a bicycle, and a white hatch. The second day you had a tractor, white pickup truck, and yellow hatch. You're telling me in less than 24 hours you replaced all the vehicles at your tents with different ones? Also worth noting, the gear in those vehicles matched your exact load out. On top of that, you both were carrying the pdw sd which is not in the game AND you had an extra pdw sd in your tents and several of the vehicles. You found what, 6 of them all from the same guy? Same thing goes for the plethora of ultra rare weapons and gear both of you had in your inventory and tents. You also should realize that picking up any items from hackers is almost as bad as spawning in the items yourself. It's breaking gameplay balance, and in many ways you're helping the hackers troll. In real life it's against the law to be in possession of stolen property. The analogy is particularly apt in this situation. Anyway. Our initial ban on Mr. White was potentially applied for the wrong reason, so we will remove it. Days of Doom already reported us to the dev team so we'll wait and see if we get a response from them before we do anything. -

Well to start this off. Myself and a few others I play with. I wont state names. We usually roll together and help each other out. Complete strangers that met and didn't trick each other so we could end up killing each other like most on this game do. I am fairly new to this game, about 3 weeks in... My few member team manage to find ourselves a Ural. So we put ALOT of time and effort into filling this sucker up with all kinds of weapons, items, and nice goodies. My buddies got off so I decided to take a stroll to Stary while there was only a few people on the server US 1370 early this morning. Well I had my hunting rifle, G17, and I dropped all other gear off before I left so I could do some LOOTING! I show up in Stary a good 45 minutes later, I heard some shooting going on. So I busted out my range finder. Spotted a few others who did not look to friendly. One happened to be sitting by the vehicles by the tent only about 300 meters out. So I zeroed myself in, lined up the shot and shot him in the neck. He quickly started spewing blood. His partner definitely didnt come to his rescue. He booked it out of there and didnt even make an effort to find me. Poor guy, cant rely on other bandits. Out for themselves. Well about 5 minutes after I hear a chopper in the air and he starts making rounds. This catches my eye, "hmmm there must be more of them". I quickly make my way up the hill and keep my eyes open. I catch a glimpse of a man in the forest who also spots me. Stryke who has an AS 50 vs my CZ 550. Then my eye catches another with a machine gun. Oh boy, got my excitement up now. Your coming to hunt the Marine Sniper? lets play! They search ALL over the top of that mountain for me. Even taking random shots into the brush. Then they fire to try and get me to pop out, but I am patient. I wait for the right opprotunity. Aha! there it is. Looks like he is busy checking his gear standing in the worst spot ever, top of the mountain on the ridgeline? WHY?! Well, I couldnt get a clear shot laying in the brush looking uphill so I went to crouch mode, scoped in fired one shot just when he moved, clipped his chest blood started pouring. But he didnt move right away, must of been checking his map or gear.. ok here is another for your head. BANG! He quickly died from the 2nd shot. His buddy that was helping him search booked it out of there. I gave a momentary salute to the bandits the attempted to kill this Marine and then left. I came back about 40 minutes later. The chopper still making his rounds I tracked his coordinates and directions once again, then all of a sudden I hear a vehicle approaching. "Jeez how many teammates do these guys have?" "A Ural? Theres not many of those on this map, that cant be mine". I find the dead body i shot earlier. "ahh thanks for leaving me the AS 50. Just what I need to shoot the chopper out of the sky." I left Stary and booked it back to my safe zone where my Ural was. But when I arrive hours later It was no longer there. They left cooked meat on the ground where it once was. Like a slap in the face. "Very well, you took my hard earned effort I will not sleep till I find yours." It only took a few hours of running through hills and dense forest. I came to a mountain top where you stashed your Helicopter Dred. It is mine now. Maybe Ill keep it in running condition or maybe Ill crash it on purpose i havent decided yet. I heard it takes 7 days to respawn it. Hmmm I want my Ural and all MY and my teams gear back. You have 24 hours. Then I make my decision. :-)

Crazy. I swear I read it, but I must have missed that part. Anyway, grats on killing a guy who will just respawn all his gear and vehicles anyway.

Spawning vehicles and having hacked weapons? o_O
-
was on UK 106 with a friend, when the dude i was playing with stated he saw a guy spawning vehicles in Balota airstrip, just before he turned around with his ghillie suit, cayote pack and the rest and sprayed the hell out of him using what appeared to be a modded gun. Upon hearing this i decided to check it out myself, and found that there was indeed a guy spawning things and so i took it into my own hands to take him out. I sprinted towards him with my winchester rifle and screamed "YOUR A WIZARD HARRY" before pumping a full 5 rounds into his helpless face.. :> Any of you guys got any memories of times youve killed hackers/script kiddies? Im now aware that he was not a hacker, but was a script kid, my apologies.

Vehicles respawn 7 days later.

A few things would have to be changed. The use with tents - would you be allowed to store these bags inside tents or vehicles?

Tips for finding/repairing vehicles?
Butters1 replied to T8TRG8TR's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, i mean server hoster just started hosting server, only then chance to find vehicles at their spawn. Find camps at any server. -
If you want to destroy enemy's camp, just: 1. Take out all their stuff and drop it/stole it/do what ever you want, but leave the tents empty 2. Save all the tents 3. Destroy them with c4/granades/vehicles 4. Profit and butthurt to the camp owners, now they have to dupe all their stuff again  Sorry for my excellent English, I'm writting from phone and too lazy to use google translate

Hacking, Hacking, Hacking, Hacking, Hacking...
Gumpnstein replied to Gumpnstein's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The thing I am wondering after being Nuked this week is WTF does battleye do? I have had robots attack me, I have been teleported, I have seen hacked helis, hacked vehicles, I have seen the entire server be sent to Thunderdome, I have seen the entire server lifted into the air and I have seen a nuclear bomb explode. If you can set off nukes WTF does battleye actually stop you from doing? It's like turn the shit off and it doens't even affect anything lol -
We need a purpose.
corbon_hydrashock replied to WildGunsTomcat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Holey disagree the game needs to be like every other game out there - i.e. having missions. Missions that are already in the game: find players to work with or trust repel players who aren't friendly collect stuff to make life easier collect parts to build a vehicle, or steal one (then use said vehicle to repair & retrieve more vehicles) The unique experience of DayZ could be improved by following the example of the last two in that list; create more complexity, ability, and self-structured 'missions' to make the game what you want of it. So let's say that my group and I decide that we want either electricity for our compound, or for the entire city of Elektro... we're industrious... so how can we get this power plant back online? (I could see trading goods, power, or something else to a community who runs the mine / quarries in the game for their coal.) It could certainly go in that direction, and while it would be great, the problem would be that it would probably grow away from the experience of being a survival-based endurance fest. Of course the problem with anything being survival based is... once a player learns enough personal skills and collects or creates good equipment, they're really at the stage of Rocky mountains' mountain-men of the past... they'd surely create shelters and try to improve upon life, and some would congregate to make communities who would want security (solid and high walls to prevent zombies and bandits from entering) and electricity. I'm just not sure, having played DayZ mod, that any stand-alone game that would allow me and my group to live on our own for days, weeks and months on-end in the wilderness (once I had a fire starter kit, an axe, and the ability to collect game and water) without allowing greater opportunity to re-create civilization, would warrant the $$ to buy it. -
And then you realized the items that people dupe or hack-in can be looted by legit players. In their tents, their vehicles or even on their corpses...

There is one big issue that affects DayZ's pvp and the challenge to collect items(people find a military item spawner and collect items from it by hopping from server to server). That is server hopping. People most of the times get their hunting gear out, go to a vantage point with their weapons and server hop to a more populated server to get some free kills. They also server hop when they are getting fired at and they know the location where somebody is shooting them - all it takes is to find another server, get to the location where they were fired from and server hop back to the initial server to get a free kill. This really plague's dayz's pvp. My idea is this - whenever you join a diffrent server your spawning point gets reset. Here's an example: If a player logged out with his gear inside Chernogorsk in a server A and he joins server B, he doesn't spawn/log back to his initial location(for this example thats Chernogorsk), but he spawns with his full gear in one of the many coastal locations where people respawn after death. Let's say the player reaches Electro, logs out and joins back to server A. The player then doesn't spawn back inside Chernogorsk(where he first left of in server A) or Electro ( where he left server B ), but he spawns again on the coast with his full gear. Pretty much, every time you join a diffrent server - your spawn location gets reset, but you dont lose gear. Also, to avoid confusion, if you leave server A in Chernogorsk with your gear and after a while get back to server A, you spawn back in Chernogorsk with your full gear. Personally, i think this feature can fix the hopping server exploit, because most of the people are already pretty static when it comes to servers due to the things like finding a closest server to you, your tents and vehicles you share with your friends save only in one of the servers. Yes, this will make people a little bit more static when it comes to servers, but not by much - people constantly move around the map, not staying inside one location for too long, so resetted spawning location feature won't damage the game.
-
It seems, that since weapons are eventually saved to the server, that Rocket could inspect everything saved in backpacks, tents and vehicles, and eliminate non-Dayz weapons, whatever. But - no; that seems to easy - plus, I'm sure he's too busy shuttling back and forth to the bank.
-
not sure why everyone is so cheesed about the graphics bug it only affects a small portion of the maps, stary and the nw arent the only fun places, my buddies and i have crazy gear but we cant go north so we just havin a blast on the coast, doin smash and grabs in cherno, fighting bandit snipers, doin bus missions just try some new gameplay down south in other news ive been noticing wierd shit with vehicles, sometimes from taking minor damage they will exploded, without killing the drivers who get kicked from the server, then after a reset they appear where they blew up full of thier old gear, anyone getting this? Anyways pumped for the patch, wanna find me a heli and take some guys on thier first stary raid :)

my battleye server scripts shows hacks
tandwan replied to Roy0441's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
On the server we put up we have plans to put all those into the script.txt but we want to know something else. There has been a recent outbreak of people who use the bug of where the game doesn't load trees/plants/ grass and then go around killing other players / raiding camps / stealing vehicles. Is there a way we as admins can combat this? A way to have battle.eye or the game check to see if those files are loading? -
TO ADMIN OF DE 804 and his squad of douchebags
hazedaze replied to hazedaze's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I probably dont give a damn after smoke some joint tonite but I had to get it out. plus these things need to be posted here. nice theory but no smartguy. I had 70ping and my buddy had 15ping (he's from NL). we got kicked 10 times just after getting into lobby. They were stacking vehicles, and we had no business at all with vehicles. We just wanted to travel from A to B in a night server. Maybe he banned us Idk. I'll give it a try soon. -
Basically I'd like some input from other server admins and anyone who has had to deal with similar situations. There is a clan that frequents our server who we, as well as others on the server, have suspected of cheating / foul play for a while now. Their ability to find our vehicle locations almost instantly after relocating them is second to none, as well as seeming to know where we are. Twice they've waited for us to leave different camp locations to kill us. Both locations were opposite ends of the map. One of the times they had parked their ATV (which was ours, hidden in a completely different place that they managed finding before making their way to us) about 500 metres or so away whilst scoping out our camp with an AS50. Bearing in mind our camp was located beyond the peak of a hill meaning they had no sight of it from where they were, yet they knew we were there. Anyway, each time they've raided our camp and vehicles we've managed to find them again due to them hiding them in obvious places (along the top of the map) and us having a good amount of man power. Their very first camp we raided must have been there a while with 15 tents or so full of what appeared to be duped guns, ammo, supplies and coyote backpacks. Amongst these duped guns were 7 holographic suppressed M4s, which are not in the game as far as we're aware. So today after all of the suspicion I decided to take a look at the logs to see if there was anything else they were guilty of. I wouldn't say I was surprised when I saw 2 of their members both had the thermal AS50s as well as silenced PDWs. Fair enough if one of them had killed someone who had scripted them in, but both of them having the same loadout leads me to believe they actually do it themselves. I realise the first points I've mentioned are purely hearsay and don't really have any concrete evidence but I believe the scripted and duplicate weapons are surely solid enough to give me a reason to get rid of them.

Hacker spotted, FI3 (SCREENSHOT PROOF)
[email protected] replied to kitta's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This is correct. It exists in the game files but has ZERO chance of spawning. Doesn't mean his spawned it himself though, but only an idiot would wear it. Just save the heli and reset the server, if it disappears it's because it's been scripted in since hacked vehicles don't get saved. -
The vehicle kill is hard to get Im upto 1 Death and 1 wounded so far with vehicles 1 Clean Roadkill with V3S and the other i clipped him with a Quad and put him down bleeding but i left him to repair and moved on
-
We have buyed a Server and want to build a camp but every time we repair a vehicle the vehicle is despawned at the next Server restart to the Spawnpoint of the Vehicle or the Vehicle transforms into a another Vehicle like the Bus transforms to a Bycicle or the Boat to a ATV. We dont know why this happend but we try it ervery day but the Vehicles are always gone. And the only Answer from the Support is: "A simple server restart should bring them back. Sometimes they don't load properly if you're experiencing connections issues." But this cant be because we try it since the server started and it happens every time. The only Problem can be at the Hive not the Server because the Hive manage all the Spawns. I hope anyone can help us. Sry for my English im from Germany :)
