When are you really gonna to stop OFF-MAP vehicle hoarders!!
ben_c replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm torn over taking things 'off map'. On one hand it's a pain in the arse if everything has been taken... On the other it's a good use of iniative I'd prefer a percentage chance of vehicles breaking (thus needing new parts from the map) if they are taken off the map over the 'I don't have one so just destroy it'. The bottom line is that these guys have got organised, claimed the vehicles and are protecting their stuff I suppose. **EDIT - For the record I have no stuff stashed off map, nor any transport other than my virtual feet. -
Was doing pretty amazing. Found some really incredible weapons, had a 16 slot backpack, had it full of meat and medicine and canteens... Found a tractor and thought oh this is cool let's see how this thing works! It blew up and killed me. No warning just boom. I'm depressed now :( Why don't they warn you that vehicles will make you die? I would have been happy without the tractor I thought hey it's a new aspect of the game I get to experience. Sad face.

Could be our group up in the NE. I do remember seeing your two names on the server. There is however another group up there storing vehicles off map, which we reckon is the [DZH] lot. I've killed a few of them at the dam area heading down South from the outside of the map, so that's why we think it could be them. Anyhow, if you guys know Evertos, talk with him and he'll pass on the message, and we'll talk about it in the group. Although our group at the moment when were all online is getting rather large so I guess we'll see. -

Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
ezay75 replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi. Am I the only one wondering about that stand alone project, when you can't play the alpha because of hackers ? I mean, it's everyday now. And I'm not talking about that cute and funny hacker that'll spawn some gear for his friends and himself and play the game, or the one that'll find vehicles with a radar. No, I'm talking about server wide grenade launcher nuking, killing everyone almost instantly (plus their vehicle), server wide teleporting in the air without parachute, and so on. Considering how long it takes to gather pieces to patch a chopper, how long it is to grab NV/L85 and so on, and how quick and often you'll get it wiped by a hacker, my question is: how the hell do you think you'll get a stand alone ? I really don't think that game will continue its growth without a serious anti-hack system.- 217 replies

simply contact the battleye support email with an email following their EXACT guidelines. Don't spin a yarn, don't talk about how you were on vacation or anything like that. Simply include your global ban id, and tell them what you were doing at the time (not a step by step, include whether you were playing for an extended period of time then were banned mid-play, or banned on login). This is a direct quote from the Battleye support page on their website. ! IMPORTANT WARNING REGARDING GLOBAL BANS ! If you are globally banned, read the following rules before sending in a support request. If you don't follow these rules your request/e-mail will be ignored! Otherwise your individual case will be carefully investigated. No one is banned for using non-hack programs (like Fraps, overlays, etc.), picking up or using hacked in-game items, weapons or vehicles, being on a server at the same time as a cheater, or other passive non-cheating activity. Therefore all requests mentioning these things as possible reasons for the global ban are ignored. A shared or stolen cd-key is no excuse. It's your own responsibility to ensure that no one else has access to it. Include your exact (!) global ban ID. The ID is shown in your global ban message ("Global Ban #ID"). If you don't include it your request will be ignored. Do not tell stories. Whatever you are saying about yourself or your situation won't matter. The only thing that matters is the evidence that is gathered for every global ban issued. Do not ask for the evidence behind your ban. No details about it will be revealed. Hackers would love to have access to this information. Do not beg for mercy. If you cheated you will have to live with the consequences. Global bans are permanent and no exceptions will be made. Questions regarding how exactly to get unbanned will be ignored. No support will be given on how to buy a new game or change your cd-key. Again, if you don't follow these rules your request will be ignored! Note that you will not receive a response if the evidence clearly indicates that you or someone else using your cd-key cheated. It doesn't matter if you only cheated on your own private server. Cheating on BE-enabled servers is forbidden, period.

I know but why would 2 of them run with an hacked item, this make no sense. For now im done. i ve searched for godmode-vehicles spawn-teleport. Did i miss something?
-
So basically, we've been playing there for awhile, and finally given up, the server keeps bugging your tents / vehicles so they disappear and will require a restart so they reappear, the server crashes every 15-20 minutes unless during night time, So if you're in a vehicle you will loose it after the restart because its RARELY works to save vehicles. So for those who actually want to enjoy the game, I advice you not to spend any time on this pathetic excuse of a server.

De 125 - Worst server out there.
Max Planck replied to Dudeh93's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I've been playing on DE 125 for a number of weeks and I had a completely different experience. I had a bicycle which was always where I left it for about two weeks (who took it? I'll find you!), and I have only experienced a single server crash. As for disappearing tents and vehicles, I might have something to do with that... So far I've pinched an ATV and a UAZ, and heroically liberated a bicycle which I used to run over a whole bunch of tents that were standing in the way of progress. -

I'd like to see more vehicles added to DayZ
Lillo replied to braaienator's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No no no no. The increased number of vehicles would make this game easier and less thrilling. This is DayZ and you have to survive, this is not Need for Speed. I would remove even helicopters, because they don't have sense: a survivor that finds a helicopter would escape from the island. No offence, but everytime I read these kind of posts, they make me think that the main problem is that this mod attracted too much casual gamers. -
What does script restriction #55 mean actually?
crazyairborne replied to pvtjelo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
error 55 happens to me and my clan all the time, regardless of what we are doing, vehicle or not. its def not just related to vehicles. putting the Battleye files back into the folder has fixed it for us on occassion, but it still pops up almost everyday. no hacking or scripting here. -
I don´t think it would work. It would just be another high yield military loot location. Vehicles would be taken within 10 minutes and anything else would just be looted like anything else on the map. Staying there and trying to make it groups base would be suicide. Once it became to public knowledge that a clan or group was keeping it as their own they would perish soon to one of the following: -snipers -server hoppers -hackers.

Yea, we honestly thought someone was just trying to hide the ural itself out there thinking no one would check so far out. My friend stayed in the game and noticed someone who was already in the game for a little while get banned after this incident ocurred which makes me think it was that person but eh, who knows. Just gotta start over again, which i dont mind since i had all the gear I could have ever wanted already, so all i was really doing was just looking for vehicles.

SNOW So, First things first. I will explain why this is a good addition to the game and then I will go into the juicy ideas. I think Snow should be added because it adds another thing to tackle in Survival aspects as it adds endless possibilities for Dying or Surviving. More items could be added to help survive in these conditions. Heatpacks would be used so much more and getting the cold would be more common. Snow suits Snow suits are used in harsh blistering conditions to avoid catching the cold. They are 1 full suit not containing a bottom half or top half, just a full suit. These would obviously keep you from catching the cold, but not infections. You would not need to use a heat-pack aslong as you have a snow suit. You can have a chance to find a Snow Ghillie Suit which works the same way as the Snow Suit but is white and you are almost undetectable by players and zombies in prone. If you have your face facing into the ground, you will be able to blend in with the snow, but if you want to shoot a player, your gun might give away your position because of the opposite colours. An SVD Camo could be found with a Snow Camo also. And if that's not enough for the suits, You can also find a Snow 'Camo' suit. Not so different to the ghillie, but you are less camouflage and are more likely to get shot. I don't know about this, but maybe adding in a Snow Camo pack also? Or having the chance to Camo your pack with the suit. Not too sure what you think about that. Post feedback about the packs Vehicles Vehicles will definatily be effected and 1 new vehicle will be added. Vehice's Tires will slide if braking too fast at a high speed which will result in a crash. Some cars will begin to loose grip of the road aswell when driving. Very Rarely the car's engine will freeze and the car will remain stationary and paralyzed. Not for too long though. Undecided about if you can sort the engine to make it unfreeze and able to start the car again. 1 new vehicle will be added : The Snowmobile. Is the same as the ATV and takes the same parts and is as rare as the ATV. General Survival Of course you need to have water and food in the Winter Weather, but it's so scarse in all the Frost and coldness. So, finding foods going to be hard, but water is going to be fairly easy. Make sure you have either tin cans or whiskey bottles and some wood with matches. Fill up a Tin can or Whiskey bottle with snow and start making a fire. You can melt the Snow and purify it to make it safe to drink. If you make a fire, it will go out at any moment after 1 minute. If you want to keep the fire going you will need to add more wood to the fire. Animals such as the Snow Hare's, Foxes & Snow Deer can provide the player with different amounts of meat. The Hare will give 2 meat steaks, Foxes will give 4 and the Deer will give 6 meat steaks. Thank you for reading this post. I am going to be adding so much more in the future when I research more to do with Winter Survival. Leave any feedback, Bad or Good. Check out my other post on Fishing for my thoughts on that.

THE GOOD Now there are some ideas that have been suggested that I really like and I think will make the game better. These things increase the human element, increase the realism and in some ways the difficulty. These haven't all be suggested by me, and some are apparently going in anyway, I'll update those as they happen. Great news about the standalone being announced. These suggestions apply both to the mod and the standalone at this stage , until we get to a public build of the new game. 1: Removing global chat (IN on good servers anyway). I'd also like to see whisper, talk and shout modes the latter two which would up the range of your voice but also risk alerting infected. Also more hand signals, someone also suggested a whistle which I quite liked. Direct chat needs to be very reliable and there need to be quick clear ways of signalling. Death comes fast in Dayz to help reduce KOS communication has to be unequivocally clear. 2: Radios. To allow long range communication, radios, walkie talkies. Here's a thread on it http://dayzmod.com/f...walkie-talkies/ 3: Exposure. Weather , warmth / cold survival elements. IN and improving with each patch by the looks of it. 4: Player journals. I love extra human element this will add. Id like them to just be something you can read on a corpse and not take with you. Here's the thread http://dayzmod.com/f...ge__hl__journal . Support this idea! 5: Occasional (VERY rare) zombie wanderers in the wilds. Not enough to make the wilderness stressful, just enough to make sure you couldn't feel totally safe. (Later suggestion 21 addresses this better I think). Or possibly the odd bear or wolf http://dayzmod.com/f...ars-and-wolfes/ 6: Better hunting, wild animals that spook and are harder to kill. Also zombies killing animals. I'd like the feeling of a ravaged eco system you would get from seeing scared animals. And also seeing the Zs chasing down and eating livestock etc. That could at times also provide a valuable distraction... http://dayzmod.com/f...re-challenging/ 7: Possibly a more involved crafting cooking system. Foraging, cooking recipes. The hatchet is a start towards this sort of thing I think. Still not 100% on this one, seen alot of threads about foraging, fishing and farming. All ideas that have potential. 8: Daynight cycle 1.5 x speed. So you get more variety, might stop servers cheating and resetting server time. And allow players to experience both day and night if they can play only at certain times. Don't get me wrong I love night time! However I read a post by Rocket that said that this isn't possible currently. An alternative I came up with is locking CD keys to a timezone : http://dayzmod.com/f...synced-to-time/ I'm re-assessing this problem and also think that removing NVG / Thermal from the game would improve the game. The nigh-time gameplay dynamic is great, the light versus risk problem. But NVG and thermal really ruin this. I know this is a divisive issue but think the game would be better for it and people would be less worried about playing at night because the playing field was a bit more even. 9: checking / refilling magazines. Please god! An inventory filled with clips with 2 bullets in is a killers! IN! Checking is in and at least some ammo types can be converted. A nice start. 10: Less predictable loot locations. The loot zoning is ok. But having the best loot spawn in the same place in the same building every time is too predictable for my liking. Possibly less predictable vehicle locations as well to prevent out of game maps plotting the spawns. 11: Repairable refuel able emergency generators. I wasn't sure about this idea but think it could work. I'd prefer to see smaller generators rather than full power stations myself so that teams could light up small areas. Could tie in with the radios idea as well. Here's the thread. hhttp://dayzmod.com/f...enerators-v-33/ 12: Remove radar from helicopters. To stop people being able to hoover up all the vehicles as soon as they have a chopper. DONE! 13: Camo netting. I'm sure this had been suggested before. But some camo webbing to hide vehicles would be fantastic! 14: Traps (already on the way apparently). Beartraps are in but horribly bugged. 15: Non lethal weapons. Something to incapacitate people and rob them without killing them. Tranq darts etc would be nice. One shot = slower movement blurry vision etc. Two shots = slow down until you pass out. The gun could be a slow loading one shot weapon so there is no one hit kill mechanic introduced with these weapons. More options for people is a good thing. 16: Shooting people damaging equipment. Discussion thread here http://dayzmod.com/f...age-by-gunfire/ 17: Throwing anim quicker or not stop you moving. Smoke grenades for instance are a life saver, or should be right now you stand and get mauled before you can get the smoke away. 18: Curious Z's. Loud sounds outside their agro range draw zeds to wander roughly in that direction. So a grenade blast in the distance, a sniper shot a car. If not close enough to draw direct agro causes them to gravitate. See no 21 for an extension of this. 19: Sprains. Small falls instead of shattering your legs cause sprains that stop you running but not walking. Painkillers cure the sprain. Zombies can be more likely to do this than break your legs as well. (1.72. will reduce zombie legs breaks which is a nice start). 20: This ground mist on occasion for added spookiness. http://dayzmod.com/f...136-heavy-mist/ looks very atmospheric. 21: Zombies spawning much further from players. Might be possible with 1.7.2 optimisations and in standalone certainly. Here is a more in depth reasoning http://dayzmod.com/f...ns-and-zombies/ 22: Less ammo , military weapons. Combined with fixing the ammo bug (below). I still think the good weapons should be in the game just much much rarer. Along with ammo in general. I like the thrill of finding something good. But as it stands it's way too easy to find military hardware. Remove military spawns from all civilian places. Lower the spawn rates in all others including deerstands. Primary source should be crashed choppers I think, but even then much rarer. This has been suggested in many places and is an important step to making Dayz less KOS and more about survival. http://dayzmod.com/f...tality-of-dayz/ THE BAD Ok instead of repeating myself in lots of different places I thought I'd just write my thoughts on Gameplay etc in one place, then you can all tear it to shreds lol. 1st: The first thing that makes Dayz great is the human element. The interactions that occur between players. These interactions are defined by fear, mistrust and uncertainty. 2nd : The second thing that makes Dayz great is the realism, and the difficulty. Everything is difficult in this game. This makes the reward all the greater. People keep suggesting mechanics, like Safe Zones. Spawn on friends. Factions. No friendly fire. Easier Vehicles, more powerful Makarov, building safe houses, etc. No no! Missing the point! DONT MAKE IT EASIER! Sometimes the game can be frustrating but making it easier, making these things more convenient will kill what makes the game so compelling. When I've achieved something I hate dying, but when I re-spawn I learn from my mistakes and am driven to not make them again. People also keep suggesting skill systems. But I don't think acquiring skills as a game mechanic is the way to go in Dayz. It's what you find and what YOU do with it. You can approach problems in the game in a real world way, you can navigate without a compass. And the more you play the better you get. You are developing the skills yourself. Its frustrating enough losing all the gear you've found without losing the ability to do things within the game. I also often see a desire for human NPCs. But WE are the survivors :) People keep suggesting sanity meters etc. Another thing this game really doesn't need. I don't need my character to shake any more or the screen to blur (happens enough when i'm hurt and cold) , or hallucinations. When the game scares me i'm scared! Probably more so than any other game I've ever played. I've been scared by rabbits, by my own shadow, by bushes, by other players even occasionally by zombies :P Artificially trying to tell me that im scared just isn't necessary. THE UGLY (bugs) Obviously there are plenty of bugs / issues in the game, as the mod is being developed in conjunction with the standalone I will leave these here: pistols not holstering, losing gear in the sea - FEATURE not bug :) Backpacks eating gear. Zombies coming through walls / doors. (Coming Soon!) Zombies following you literally forever even when you get miles from them. (FIXED) Amusingly Zombies are too easy to escape now :) Zombies hearing / seeing you through walls (FIXED) Player names showing up through buildings etc so you can see where people are on non hardcore mode. Bleeding icon out not obvious enough. Logging out cheat. (5 second logout timer added then removed for technical reasons, and coming back again soon ?). Tents not placeable / nearly impossible but not quite. (FIXED!) Tents / vehicles losing stored loot on server restarts. (DEF NOT FIXED!) But id rather this than duplication. Swapping guns on floor losing dropped gun. Crawling up stairs killing you or breaking your legs. HACKING - getting incredibly common. (FIXED apparently! or not....) Vehicles biting you. Sometimes when you stand close to one it suddenly hurts you, even breaks your bones. Slight slopes and objects making you stand up! Rearming at vehicles/ tents can delete your primary weapon! Tent pitching can end in many tents appearing. Zombies still attacking through walls. No storage total display for tents / vehicles. Regenerating Ammo! (Fix on the way). Temp Duplication! My major gripe atm. Infinite gear is really ruining things right now. Bear trap bugs. Invisible beartraps and despawning with server shut down. But this game is in ALPHA if I was developing that game I would be well aware of these problem already and planning to fix them so I'm sure Rocket is. Everyone should also have a good read of this thread: http://dayzmod.com/f...ed-updated-722/ Get an idea of Rockets vision, what he will and wont do.

Nope, in BF3 you can Teleport everyone in front of your Crosshair with or without vehicles. You can get invisible, you can give unl. ammo, you can fly, you can teleport yourself, and of course - GODMODE.. So pretty same things as in dayz, just not spawn weapons/vehicles as far as i know. COD.. wallhack, aimbot, invisible, godmode -> more than enough to destroy a game.

This might be long, but here's a post about why BE's bans are not likely to be false positives. It seems to me that a lot of you people have no idea how neither Arma nor BE works. Arma has a very open platform and complex missions consists of considerable scripts. Mods, like Dayz, consists of several functions, modules, models, etc. There are also add-ons that can be added to the game. Some of the missions scripts are executed server side and some are executed on the client side. Now with the last entry here, this is what opens up for hackers. BE has been fighting this for some years but there are some things where it cannot stop hackers as that would either cause false positives because of a poorly made mission (or mod) or it would seriously limit mission makers and mods (i.e. why BE has to be careful and why you still see hackers running around). Now to the bans, there are some commands that the client never-ever should run. Like creating weapons, vehicles, etc. In a mission you're testing you might want to be able to teleport from one location to another, this is done in the mission and the script that executes this is ran by the server, not the client. You can run scripts on the client that has serverside effects which is what the hackers are doing. What commands you're allowed to do, and what you're not - I have no idea about but if you can do it in a mission, BE will allow it. I haven't bothered looking at how the hacks work as I play on passworded servers in A2 where hacking was rapant earlier. I do know that BE is checking these commands and it only triggers on commands that you're never ever supposed to send. This means that changing your config-file is never ever the reason for a ban. Nor is changing your skin. Also, BE doesn't care about mods/addons, which means BE can't ban based on "hacked items" because BE doesn't know what items a mod allows/disallows. However, it will ban when you try to inject a code instructing the server to give you or someone else, or simply place it on the ground. If someone hacks an item in your backpack, BE doesn't care about you - it cares about who sent the commands. Also I do believe that BE scans your script-folders for unique strings in illegal scripts which means that if you downloaded a hack to "see what it was", "see how it works because it will make me a better admin" or "learn how to fight it" you might be in trouble but this is PURE SPECULATION on my part. If you've DLed some "tools" or "maps" for A2 that was a program, you might "unknowingly" have download some cheats. Or maybe "your friend" did. For those of you worried that a hacker may have injected harmful scripts to your client, don't worry as that's impossible. The hacker would have to change the mission/mod itself and compile it with the malicious script and then make the mission run the script from your PC which I find very, very strange. The downloading of the malicious script can only be done when joining (from lobby, you click ok and get the receiving mission file on a few kB) and not on the fly - and as I just said - only from a server that's running a malicious mission/mod. Those who worry about the latest beta's - don't. They're already tested and approved by BE and they don't do anything except the server not allowing/listening to certain commands that there's no reason for running on client-side (but still allowed by BE as old and new server and client versions are supposed to work with each others on the beta stage). And finally those rumors about injecting scripts to get rcon password and GUIDs doesn't mean you lose you're CD-key. That's why they're using GUIDs - it's a one-way hash that's can't be reverted back to your CD-key. There's a neglible chance that a key generator made your key, and BE bans double keys, but that is very tiny. If that is the case they'll see that the second key came from a completly different ISP and possible country and you might be heard. TL;DR: * BE bans on commands your sending to the server that you never ever will as a legit user * BE can't catch the really clever hackers (now) due to the open structure of Arma * Changing config or skins will not cause a ban * Using the latest beta won't cause a ban * Using hacked items won't cause a ban * Being molested by a hacker won't cause a ban * Hackers getting your GUID doesn't give him your CD-key * BE MIGHT ban if you have 3rd party hacker software on your machine but not using it Now to all you "But what if / about X!" sayers replying - think about this. Very, very few Arma2 players are running vanilla A2. They're running atleast one mod, usually multiple at the same time. BE doesn't care (or know) about mods/add-ons - it's just Arma2 to it. A2 players are running add-ons that give them rifles, vehicles, items, skins, modules, enhanced AI, functions, code that don't exist in the original game on mods that might significantly alter the game/gameplay, they use modified sound, skins, models - you name it, it's been made and used. And none of them has been caught by the latest BE update or complaining on the BIS forum. PS! I can't say 100% that you're guilty, I find it very likely, but regardless - send a mail to BE with your ID and if they have false positives - they will correct it. I assume - as it hasn't happened so far... Edit: I forgot to say that BE is working with the devs about some bigger changes that will make BE a lot more powerful and effective to catch hackers, so it will get even worse for hackers.

It is not about updating the hive, it is a bug. Even if i update it again to the latest version, it won't help... Some reboots just lack some tents/vehicles. Sincerely. Fuck off, from a admin.
-
But an insane amount of servers don't keep track of vehicles (and tents) when restarting, probably because of ignorant admins not updating the hive. It is extremely annoying.
-
Can anyone provide a link to reliable map with spawn locations? I dont think all the vehicles have been taken on my server yet as I have only seen 1 pickup truck tye vehicle and never again seen anything else... no chopper or nothing! :\ Just getting a bit bored of walking EVERYWHERE!

What do you need to get a vehicle working? Does it differ between vehicles?
