No vehicles spawning on new server.

i might be off-topic but it's still vehicle related, i don't want to take your time by asking if you would please search the forums with tags like helicopter doesn't spawn etc. etc. but i can tell you that i've done it and i share the grief of many players & server admins who are on the hunt for choppers ever since they were reintroduced with the 1.7.2.4 (yes they were added but once destroyed/crashed/stuck) they are left 4 dead lol, simply, they doesn't spawn even after 7 days of servers activity, or even after more. so would you kindly answer if the chopper respawn timer is the same as all the other vehicles & if any server restart will reset the 7 days timer? i think i'm speaking for everyone here. thanks and sorry for the long post a concerned citizen of Chernogorsk -

tents not saving is a new bug once again but bugs are what happens when you have an arma patch and dayz patch with in a few days it happens, but as far as vehicles go my first server took over a week to get them to spawn and on top of that not every spawn does spawn one there are 4 off road truck spawns that i know of and on the day that vehicles did show up only 1 even spawned one so dont go around thinking you should have like 20 of them on your server you will be lucky if you have 1-2 of each. also to add my first server is over a month old so its not a new thing for them to take there time to spawn. -

Yeah I too got my server from defcon. It has been over a week and still no vehicles. I feel your pain general. -

This is extremely frustrating to just say that this is only a problem with servers that are less than a week old. I have had my server since 7/26/12 and there are others who have had servers longer and still dont have vehicles. Vehicles did show up on my server for 2 or 3 days and then disappeared. I can understand if yall are having problems but to say its only with new servers make people like me who have been playing on our own servers for more than three weeks hear that its only a problem with servers that are few days running is really discouraging because Ive been waiting patiently for a solution by reading forums everyday and trying things with my server hoping to get it fix only to hear that we (admins that have servers more than a week) dont have a problem. I really thought it was my server provider (defcon) was at fault and was gonna switch but now I fear getting a new server and waiting all over again to have the same problems will just make me quit this game altogether. I hate to sound so negative, if yall would have said this problem is shared by various admins then I woudn't have posted anything I would have just waited but to hear that early servers are the only ones who have problems made me write this -

Before the ridiculous stores of spare loot can be addressed, the means by which they were acquired need to be addressed first. The various duping methods, script creation and server hopping make it far, far easier to get the so-called "rare" items in the first place. If those items were appropriately rare, there wouldn't be enough of them to allow the luxury of storage. Anyone who found them would put them into use immediately. My sense of the intended way of things is that someone might have a pair of NVGs after a few days, or a sniper rifle, or a ghille suit. Not all three. While a complete hive wipe needs to happen in a bad way, clearing all characters and removing all tents and vehicles from all servers, without addressing the other issues first we'd just be in the same situation in a couple of months again. Hoarding is the best way to take all of the drama and tension out of the game, but people will continue to do it as long as the activity is more gratifying than some other activity in the game. At the moment, there's really nothing else to do except wander the countryside looking for loot and vehicles. It's natural that people will want to hold on to the things they find - even if they never actually use them. The number of vehicles hidden away in some dark corner of the forest which are never actually driven is staggering. People find them and, recognizing the scarcity, stash them away for fear of losing them. This negates the whole purpose of vehicles, and at the same time denies them to the people who actually would put them to use, break them, blow them up and put them back into circulation at the next server reboot. Implementing a punishment for blatant server hopping (such as spawning the hopper back on the coast after x+3 server joins within 15 minutes) is a solid way to make server hopping both risky and not worth the time it takes to hoof it all the way back to the NWAF - this alone dramatically cuts down how much "rare" loot a person can turn up in a night and encourages them to maybe spend their time doing something else. Introducing a way by which gear is actually removed from the server is also crucial. Whether it's some form of 'durability' which eventually makes items useless through use, or a simpler mechanic that merely deletes items randomly from a player's corpse on death, every faucet needs a corresponding drain or the sink overflows. We're drowning in loot. -

Well its past Day 7 and still no vehicles so you are right both of my tickets were pointless. I did not know the issue was so widespread before posting to the devs. The part that annoys me so much is where a hacker can come in at any time and have a vehicle.. but the Devs can't make it work??? I am being patient.. I have pretty much given up at this point to be honest.. if it comes it comes. I am just happy I don't have to waste time looking for cars cause I know they are not there. Again I am happy that Dayz was created. I respect the Devs and think highly of them. Aside from (Mason) I did not find my 2 tickets to be inpatient. Thanks for your input. I really like the child part. That was clever ;) -
Alright, came back after a month of absence, and boom. Every server I go into there are hax0rs - everywhere. Hacked tents, vehicles, skins, invis, godmode, teleports, thunderdome, ammo boxes... I shit you not, there have been at least 2 hackers in every server I've played in. In one server there were 5 tent cities, 20+ tents each, all haxed weapons, on another there were 5 flying hueys in the server... Seriously, everyone is getting geared from the hacked tents and just sniping in Elektro. What little encouragement there was to explore the map is gone. Tent duping, infinite food/water bug, ammo glitch still works... Sorry, but right now I cannot play this anymore, this game is probably a ton of fun with hacks, but without them I cannot be bothered - seriously. Gear is now meaningless - oh you've found an AS50? Remember how happy you were to find one of those rare fuckers in 1.7.1.5? Now it's just "oh I found ANOTHER AS50, guys...". I really wanna give DayZ a chance still - I love the idea and the gameplay that was offered in 1.7.1.5 - I even think helis should stay out of the game - I did not see one hacker in 200 hours in 1.7.1.5, now I see them on hourly basis - if they are playing stealthy there might be even more. :(

Vehicles would go largely unharmed in a zombie apocalypse situation. I'm all for having more vehicles. OP is 12, though.

this is the vehicles, guns, grenades, and features i think they should add and please be positive so they really get added there are alot of vehicles but i just think that they would be useful and good for roleplay vehicles, HMMWV [uS], HMMWV Utility [uS], HMMWV (Ambulance) [uS], HMMWV Terminal [uS], HMMWV SOV [uS], HMMWV GPK (M2) [uS], HMMWV CROWS (M2) [uS], Military Offroad (M2) [Takistan Army], MTVR (Ammo) [uS], MTVR (Repair) [uS], Supply Truck [uS] , MTVR (Fuel) [uS], BTR-40 (DshKM) [Takistan Militia], Stryker ICV (M2) [uS], Offroad (DShKM) [Takistan Local], Pickup (PK) [Takistan Locals], UH-60M [uS], MH-6J [uS], An-2 [Takistan Army], Merlin HC3 [bAF], AH-6X [uS], guns i dont have many ideas but here they are, flaregun, flamethrower, object spawner that spawns things from a list of stuff like small walls or working doors, M32, Mk16 CQC Holo, AKS-74 Goshawk, Sa-58P, Revolver gold, M60E4, static mounted guns, DSHkM Minitripod, KORD Minitripod, Searchlight, grenades, molotov cocktail, shrapnel grenade, features, raiding or repairing destroyed vehicles around the city, more vehicle spawns, vehicle customization for example, spikes, plow, armored plating, armored windows, spiked tires, reinforced bumbers, mounted guns, light rack, headlamps, stuff like that, remember plz be positive so the creators see that you like it and maybe even really add it all or atleast some of it so there you have it EDIT: and what i mean by more vehicle spawns is that there should be more i mean almost every vehicle in the world is blown up in a apocalypse that is nearly impossible yeah alot would be damaged or in phone poles but no they are all blown to hell with nothing left

I was thinking and wondering about tents tonight as a hacker is currently satchel charging our clans camp, and probably destroying our vehicles, (thanks for that).. First of all, when will tents get fixed so that any action taken on them pushes a save, preventing tent dupeing, I admit that when the server resets and my stuff pops back I dont complain but I look forward to the day that tents work the way their supposed to, it will reduce the number of people constantly running around with AS50's and CCO's. Also I was wondering and offering a suggestion that each player, should be able to find and use 1 unique tent that has a padlock and can only be accessed by that given player, a tent they can pack up and move, when needed and one that cant be opened by others. I also think this one tent should only be able to hold 3 guns, 5 tools and say 20 items, so less than a normal tent a sacrifice for it being a locked tent. People, clans will still need to use a load of normal tents to store lots of tools and guns and ammo, but if the worst happens, and their camp is raided, they will at least have a very small amount of stuff to fall back on if they have stuff in their tent that is. anyway.. just asking :)

As a 30 year old child adult you should know how to be patient. Vehicles were said to arrive at day 7 in the first place and you started to whine earlier about it while the customer support was actually very clear about the subject. Now it appears that there also is a problem with syncing the new servers and vehicles to the hive, but you should prepare or at least expect problems with an ALPHA STATUS MODIFICATION. You're server is about as unique as sand on a beach: be glad that the support team spent so much time in your two pointless tickets in the first place and just await until vehicles get added to your server, nothing will help accelerating this. -

Same thing is happening to my server. People keep stealing the vehicles from my camp, and after the server restarts they are all magically teleported back to the camp. It happens every time. Also, I had all the tires on the V3S and a little while ago after a server restart it magically needed two tires. Now even if I put the two tires on they will disappear after a server restart. Even if I tell the vehicles to save multiple times. -

Other people who use your tents can pitch their own tents and keep their stuff in them. There is no end-game in DayZ, unless you count dying and starting over. Permanent stockpiles of gear that persist for weeks or months after the owner is dead and duplicate their contents accidentally are not core gameplay. Dying, respawning and retaining 95% of your assets through the process is not core gameplay. When you die, it ceases to be your tent, and it ceases to be your stuff, and you cease to be you. You respawn as a new survivor, and it's unfortunate that you wash up on the beach with special knowledge of where a recently dead guy parked his car. What passes for an end-game in DayZ--The loot stockpiling, the barracks farming, the warring over helicopters and the newb griefing--all arise from the flawed mechanics of the current state of the mod. They are not sacred and need not be defended. I know it's fun to have infinite guns and food and ghillie suits and night vision goggles waiting for you when you spawn, and it's fun to be able to die and be back to 100% combat effectiveness in under an hour, but it's not the way the game is supposed to feel. You should care about staying alive, but people don't, because there's nothing to lose. You should lose your stuff when you die, even the stuff that you hid in the trunk of a car a mile north of Gvozdno. Persistent storage and the play styles that it enables are errors in the game, problems with the system. It's why people only go to high-value loot spawns to either deathmatch or to murder the newbs who don't know how to "win" at DayZ. It's why vehicles are just mobile camps. Fixing the item storage will go a long way to making DayZ into the kickass zombie survival roguelike that so many people want it to be. The problem is that the current state of the project has chased away the target audience for the finished project, and filled the community to bursting with FPS enthusiasts who like it best just the way it is. When the standalone game is in beta and DayZ players start offering feedback, there will be enormous pressure to build a game that continues to cater to the current mindset and style of play. The game is too easy for you, and it's easy because of persistent storage. Harden up, and leave your shantytown behind. -
More vehicles would be dumb. Nowadays you feel very very very very very lucky if you find some vehicle, even luckier if it is not fully destroyed. This is exactly the feeling you would suggest a zombie apocalypse survivor to have. It wont be anything special if you find vehicles everywhere.

Step one fix storage/bugs that allow duping of items. IE tents/vehicles save automatically on server restart, this eliminates the easiest way of duping gear. Step two: Real scarcity, this is accomplished by fixing spawn rates to possession rates. If this isn't enabled people will always be able to farm equipment and nothing will ever be rare, only require you to farm away for hours. If a dmr exhists in only .09% of items it should spawn at that rate until it is possessed at that rate, ie in a tent/vehicle/inventory. Once it reaches that rate it does not spawn again, the hive tracks all of the items on your person and tents/vehicles are on the sever so sync these rates and you have the possesion rate. In standalone this would be easier as Rocket as inidicated the end goal is EVE type servers, so they will have all of the data. -

I agree, with as many tickets they keep getting I'm sure it is frustrating to have me open a 2nd ticket. What I should have done was kept the first ticket open and just been able to put a reply in. I was trying to be nice as I work in support and its annoying to have open tickets to questions that have been answered. Now my second ticket I put in was on Day 7 when I SHOULD get my vehicles. That is why I waited until then to put the second ticket in. anyway thanks for your input. Who does this lame comment help? -

I've seen several people suggest poison. How about sugar. We could eat it to replenish blood or add it to a vehicles fuel tank to disable it. Or put it in a jerry can and leave it laying around for someone to find. -
Yup absolutly sure, i went to the motorcycle, used the mouse scroll menu to pick something like "Refill Motorcycle" (not sure what exactly it was) - then ive receiver a white message as confirmation "Bla bla 20 litres filled" and my jerry cans were empty. I guess thats buggy then? Or might the tank be broken and leaking? Ive really dodged vehicles untill now, so excuse me.

First of all, sorry my PM sent 4 or 5 times, I did it from my phone and it tends to mess about like that! Now, just a bit of background, I'm a 21 year old male from London, UK... I tend to play as a survivor, we have a group of 6 people that regularly play together and we go all over the map scavenging and just generally having a laugh! Here are the answers to your questions; .How long you have been playing? I've been playing for about a week now! .How often do you play? I play for a few hours practically every day (I've been off work for the past week so have been playing for at least 7 hours a day!!) .Why you have chosen that lifestyle? I like teamwork and find I work very well with other people! I have to work in a team for my job, which probably explains why I like being round people in the game. .What drives you to play like that? Interaction makes the game funner! I can't imagine running round for 8 or 9 hours on my own with no one to talk too! .A normal session in DayZ for you... I sign into our teams server on Mumble and find out where the guys are, travel to meet them (we have a couple of vehicles now) and try to find jerry cans to fuel up our chopper! .Has this game affected aspects of your real life? Nope, I already go on Survival Camps and am pretty fit so nothings really changed. .What made you choose DayZ? My mate recommended it to me when we were working a night shift. We both play ARMA, so I thought I'd give it a go, and I loved it! .Why you play DayZ? Its captured what so many zombie games haven't managed too! It actually feels like a struggle to survive and you can do what you want, when you want! That is why I play and I also find this freedom makes me feel genuinely guilty when I kill another player! .How you feel the team has done with the game? Hi, so following template: * Server this happened on: DE 201 (can be seen at the end of the video) Just south of Prigorodky. * Time that it happened including your timezone: Around 2230 CEST 2012/08/14 * What happened during the incident. We met with friend than from nowhere guy in ghillie suit appears and starts spawning wehicles and chopper, zombies just die around him, we try to use chopper to destroy vehicles. Other guys with chopper land and star investigating, even shooting at hacker, but he is invincible. Than he spawns another chopper and we left. Bottom line is he is a cheater. If you MUST know what you were banned for it was "teleporting". I am sure you are running ESP etc... as well. And yes, we do have proof in our logs of you doing this. This was the reason you were briefly unbanned last night so we could catch the cheat string from your exploit to add it to our scripts.txt file. You may think we were all born yesterday, but honestly most of us have very extensive backgrounds in the Gaming/IT world. You can't whine your way out of this one. I would really love to see you post in the admin abuse section about this ban so you will be globally banned when and if it is investigated. To everyone watching this thread: US 1037 invites all players, skilled and unskilled to join us. We are a friendly group that enjoys gaming. We DO NOT ban anyone that plays fair. If you kill us then so be it. If you raid our tents or vehicles then good for you! However... if you cheat then you get the boot! Just a warning though. We do shoot people on site 99% of the time since you can't trust anyone in DayZ :) I myself die on average about 20+ times a night for being a noob. I respawn and start again. It is all part of the game... Do we have tents with serious firepower? Of course we do. We have been playing on the same server for months now as a group. We have tents and vehicles spread across the map which we can pull from as I am sure many other people that frequent our server do as well. Play fair, DON'T cheat and have some fun!

I agree with the duping issue although I'm not sure it can actually be fixed in the mod. You might have to wait until the standalone which won't be long! I don't like the idea of magical lockable tents though. That's the risk you run setting up a camp. I've never understood why groups stash everything including vehicles in one place, your just making it too easy for people to find. Your also giving them the means to empty your tents and drive off into the sunset loaded with all of your gear. I never put more than one tent in a camp and I stash vehicles away from the tents. At least the thieving bastards will have to work for my stuff. I also like to put a bear trap or two near my vehicles if I have them. -

You're completely right, there has to be an incentive for players to want to go out of their way to get; the reward has to match the risk. Perhaps in high areas of zombie population would spawn higher valued items, weapons or vehicles. Also, clearing zombies in these cities may increase humanity. Whilst humanity currently gives you the hero skin, in the future it may lead to say... being able to give a transfusion slightly quicker, bandaging quicker etc. The benefits can't be too overpowered, but worth the good deed. Without turning this into WoW, having areas that simply can't be looted by new players would result in more teamwork between serious players, and end game content. -
