As50 and M107 need to be replaced with M40 and L115A3, it makes absolute sense. I will keep saying this- There is no single threat in dayz great enough to justify these weapons being here, all Dayz vehicles are defenceless, vehicles are not a valid reason for having the AS50 unless Rocket is gonna add APC's and tanks which i doubt. Alt+F4 is not a reason either. These rifles are acceptable in a military sim, in Dayz they are OP noob crutches.

I spawn at my camp. Almost immediately a chopper comes and hovers over my position. I hide in the bushes. Mabye he saw the tent. Dunno. Then he sees me and start shooting. He misses as I'm behind some shrubbery. I shoot back, several shots. Hit. The chopper leaves, probably lands. I hear more shooting, so I get on my bike and leave. In front of me a bandit appears from nowhere, and shoots me in the back. --- Before I saw lots of vehicles piled on the field over Elektro, even boats. I'm not sure what's going on on DE 1144, but I'm not entirely sure it's legit.

Yep I saved it. I never got any sign of overloading either but that shouldn't matter? My Tractor had tons of stuff but reverted to the default: One can of food, one binoculars and one empty whiskey bottle. I am pretty far from any of my tents but some of them where fine yesterday atleast. Will the content dissapear only if the tent is saved? So I can keep "old" gear in the tents as long as I don't save the tents? Can overloading cause tents/vehicles to not save the content? I thought the only risk of overloading was losing the actual item you are trying to put in the tent/vehicle.

Things are always getting lost in tents/vehicles. I've made bases with tents, vehicles, rare weapons, etc. Every time I came back to check on my stuff either the tent was empty and the vehicle was gone, or the tent was empty but the vehicle still had things in it. It seems like it's dumb luck whether or not your stuff saves. It's fine until a server restart, but after that you just can't trust it.

Lets say I want to make some base of operation on some server, have a tent and 2 vehicles, how stable can it be server side, will i just log in and loose every gun i keep in tent? will vehicles despawn?

Why bother heading up north to gear up when you end up getting killed by some dipshit hacker? I used to hate this stupid cherno/elektro deathmatch and I still do but atm I don't want to waste my time gearing up so some kid can kill me. Graphic bugs, tents/vehicles not saving and hackers are the reasons more and more people stay in the south. I do want to head north like I used to, I really do, but atm there's just no point in doing so because in the end you WILL get killed by a hacker.

Make private hive server with custom scripts preventing against dumps, timer to avoid death, going out of bounds, that is leaving the map will result in your immediate death and destroy private vehicles and has no problems with hoppers obviously. -
Yesterday, "dreierkill" and I "McLovin" started to go on a hunt for cars. After a few servers with no vehicles to find at all, we found DE 1655 and, to our luck, we soon found our first cars. Dreierkill found a bus, which he used to drive to Stary where he found the red 4-seater, of course, completely wrecked. I made my way through the upper Airstrip to get there and help him repair the car. It took me a few hours but I found enough wheels to repair the 4-seater. So I was making my way to the Airfield, to help dreierkill while he luckily met a guy with some pretty good gear who got his legs broken through some zombies. Geared up and ready, we met and started looting for some weapons, ammunition and parts to repair vehicles we might find on our way. Our first stop was the Ural close to Skalka. On that way, we found everything to fully repair our 4-seater and have a safe trip up there. We arrived and found the Ural, repaired the broken wheels and logged out for the night. Today, we joined again, took our vehicles and went for some more loot-hunting. While we were driving, 3 of our friends joined and we met up with them. After that, we planned our way through Berezino down to the factoy. We found a lot of wheels, an engine, a few fuel tanks and some scrap metal, everything we needed to repair even more vehicles. Two of us found an Offroad Pickup Truck, repaired and the rest of us found the blue Van at the gas station, repaired its wheels and met up with the other two. Now having 4 vehicles, we were pretty damn happy about it and tried to fix them up as soon as possible. While we were standing around, waiting for one of us to get back into the car, we all got kicked for no reason. We tried to join again and all got banned. Since we still don't know why we got banned, we think it was out of jealousy since we found some vehicles and the admins didn't. Considering the loot and hours of playtime we left into those cars, we want them back. So, I'm coming to the forums to see what we can do about those bans and might get some explanation from the admins of this server. Our playernames: McLovin dreierkill Flummi steven pasco The mystery is solved. They tried to identify a cheater. The bans have been lifted.

Thanks for the answer! I always thought its only related to the inventory not to the vehicles themself :( we lost like 6 cars and the helicopter... -

You have to understand that its a double edged knife. The only reason you cant password your server is it gives an unfair advantage to gear/vehicle acquisition. If they let people lock / PW the rooms only friends would get in (to some servers) and they would just stand at NW airfiled w 500 tents around hording massive amounts of gear. Then you go get 10 or more vehicles and drive that shit down to the coast and set the tents up in every major spawn w a shit load of gear. Then people would server hop over to any non locked server and start pvping. Normally this isnt a problem but with a method to obtain their end game gear almost instantly back they have no quams with dying and are able to take much higher risks then the average player. This is bad for everyone and because of the way the game works you unfortunately cannot do it. However there is a work around. A server that is non-hive / private hive, CAN lock its doors and ban players at will. The reason is it does not have these same implication we are talking about. Even if on a non hive you stock gear when you go back to standard hive you have a different character. I mentioned in my other post that this can also stop ghosters if there is only 1 server per hive. TLDR go private hive. its safer and more stable. -
v1.7.2.5 alll vehicles reset to respawn on server restarts. Most admin controlled servers have tents with all heli parts near heli spawns so they monopolize the bird. Fucking pretty lame imo. Do not expect to own a vehicle for any portion of time other then the night you have it.

It is one thing to make a horde in the editor and another thing entirely to do so on a 50 slot server connected to the Hive. Unless you don't care about lag which, I can assure you, people do. Same thing goes for vehicles, it is not as easy as adjusting a number. You fix something, something else breaks. As for the flares, maybe it is not high on the list of priorities? The barbed wire was put in to test how much it would strain the server. I do think your post was funny but the "show-this-list-to-Rocket-omg-he-never-thought-of-this" comments are just silly. Again, why should he refuse to fix a problem if it was easy to do? -
Darn it! Kept stashing stuff in my vehicle, just as if they would stay. Lost a few hours of collecting that stuff. <_< Any word from Rocket on fixing this? Or are tents and vehicles basically useless for storage now?

I'm guessing you were the one who killed me at the Ural as I was driving it through the woods? The Ural that was taken from our camp along with the heli and the pickup truck and atv a while ago? lol no biggie. It's a hassel to worry about vehicles while offline. It was kind of satisfying to find my ural again though. along with the 4 tents they distributed the loot from the ural in. I've found your dead body twice. once it was by a newly spawned UAZ and once was beside my tent in the old camp. I hope you don't still have the g36 I destroyed the one on your first body i found. catch ya later, Admin Sivok -

This has happend to me over the last 2 days or so. - Put on ghillie suit, lost all stats (log out to try and fix it) - Login, tents are empty and vehicles are gone - Login, tents are gone - Login, spawn in debug area with nothing but a back pack I blame the goats... -

Vehicles and tents are not saving properly, at least most of the times. We'll have to wait for a fix, but in the meantime don't put much hope on your camp.

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

Some suggestions from me. 1) Loot in general. Food should be more scarce. It's the main resource, so world quickly runs out of it. Everything else in generic loot should stay the same. About weapons. The spawn rate and the spawns should not be changed. But let's think about ammo. It should be more scarce, both for civilian and military weapons. People fought zeds while evacuating, so thats logical. And weapons are all that remained from survivors eaten up... Some of the weapons should spawn without ammo, just like they were abandoned. Sniper rifles are the only thing to change. They should be rarer than nvg's. DMR and CZ should be left the same, as they have no such power. AS 50 noobkillers should be totally destroyed. I think everyone had found military ammo in garages, sometimes even grenades. So I think that is wrong. Garages should only have industrial and trash loot. Sometimes generic. And that will be all right. 2) Melee combat system. There should be a normal melee combat. No, I'm not gonna say that ya can beat a zed to death with your fists and legs. I would even say that such attacks should provide no damage. But they should give you some tactical opportunities, for example, a kick can make a zed fall down, giving you a few secs to retreat. Or if a zed is standing in a corridor, and there is something you want to get behing him, you can grab him and throw out of the window. That should be a minigame (ya press buttons when necessary). If you fail, you'll get bit. Also there should be some more melee weapons, for example knives, machetes, shovels, bats, police batons etc. All should have their own effects, for example shovel has a high chance to knock you down, and a machete will definitely cause bleeding. 3) Bases and trading. I don't agree that ammo should be the currency. I think that direct exchange is the best here. Because such currency takes up a lot of inventory space which is equal to gold in DayZ. And if it will be so, everyone will be in the barracks and stary, looking for money. About bases: people should be able to make their own bases on the ground and under it. I suppose that Chernarus should be modified, and some severs/bunkers should be added into it. People can modify those into bases, dig additional tunnels, make entrances with barricades, etc. Containers (crates, tents) can be placed in there. Bases above ground should be fortified with sandbags and wire fencing. Maybe you should be able to get some building materials from the factories, and build some advanced fortifications. Petrol generators should be added - that would give you more abilities, for example territory lighting, permanent radio chatter, cooking without wood etc. I think about two types: self-made from some parts met at the factories or before-apocalypse time generators, that should be transported by cars. First should be less effective than the second, of course. Petrol is another aspect of the bases. Petrol stations, small and big, should be claimable. You just come and press "Claim". But everyone wants petrol. Smb will trade for it, and smb will just try to reclaim the station. You may build fortifications using the same wires, bags and hedgehogs. Also, you may bring in a generator - and you shall have the ability to get petrol from underground. Because the fueltanks can run out of fuel. If they come and kill you all - they get the statiompn with all the items you store there and the fortifications. If zeds do this - the station just becames ruined (as usual). Fortif's disappear, the generator remains. 4)Suggestions about cars. Repair. There should be 4 types of wheels: bikes (ATV, Yamaha, bicycle), civilian cars (GAZ, Skoda etc.), light military (UAZ, etc.), trucks (V3S, Ural). Engines should also differ, for example 3 types: light (bikes, cars), trucks, helis. Same about fueltanks, but bikes should be a separate category. Hull repairment: Military vehicles, cars and trucks should have additional armor, that improves the hull's capability. It will be the Armor indicator (AMR/ARM), repaired with Armor lists. You'll need a toolbox. And about toolboxes: they should spawn a little more often, and IMO you should need it for every repairment except the glasses. About the spawns. There should be + 2-3 more light civilan cars, just as Gaz and Hilux. +2 bikes or atvs. Bicycles deserve another conversation. There should be about 10 bicycles about the map. 2-3 of them, as now, is just stupid. IRL there is as minimum 1-2 bicycles in every village. But they should be nerfed. You will tire when driving a bic (1,5 times faster than when running), so you will drive slower and need rest. Players should be able to shoot from the car, using the secondary weapons. Certainly, accuracy will be rather low. 5) Zombies. They should be able to grab you and attack, until you break the grab/someone kills the zombie. They should be able to damage cars and hit you sometimes (~30% from the dmg). Also, if on a bike, they are able to throw you off. If in car, they can break glasses, sometimes (rare) pop tires and damage hull. After reading the first post, I have nothing more to say. Edit: I found some simular suggestions, sorry guys I didnt stole your ideas. I just havent read the theme before posting. -

This is a well known problem with 1.7.2.5, if you want vehicles to save then rollback to 1.7.2.4 its the only way to make it work. -
For some reason I ended up in Elektro. Maybe i was looking for that homely feeling. Maybe I just wanted the feeling of small town shopping before the shit hit the fan. Nah! I just came from Cherno where I lobbed a 'nade at someone who thought he could shoot me. Sounded like automatic fire, possibly an M16. I dodged it and went into the brick wall jungle. Stayed there for a while after after the dust settled, trying to make contact, but I neither saw or heard anyone. A 'nade has that effect on people... So since it amounted to nothing, I headed further East. That was the real reason. I wasn't really looking for trouble, as much as I was looking for excitement. I wasn't really going to Elektro either. My stop was further away, but as long as I went past it, I thought I might as well stock up on a few items. The place was deserted, except for some eerie bodies in the street. It looked like there had been a war there. A body was sprawled in front of the office building. Another inside. They both had all their equipment intact. Flies buzzing all around. I remember thinking to myself, "WTF happened here?" In the middle of the street was another body. This one a bandit, face down. He also had his equipment intact, but I had no interest in any of it. Next to him was an unusable bike, probably shot to pieces during the battle. The feeling of foreboding slowly crept into me. When I tried for the bar, I really jumped when I turned the corner to go up the stairs. A bandit was laying there all mangled, staring straight at me with his dead eyes. All these dead bodies in such close proximity to each other was giving me the willies. Then I noticed something out of the window of the flat. All over the hill above the store, vehicles were strewn. ATV's, bikes, motorbikes - even boats! Again I go, "WTF!" and I think to myself that something crazy must have gone down here. After pondering wether it was a trap, I finally got on my way to check it out. I pass over the street to the store first, just to be safe. That is when I see him. He's running straight for me with a train of zeds after him. I'm not prepared at all. I'm standing in the middle of the street, and it seems like he's headed straight for cover. Got no time to think. It's pretty clear he's got some kind of semi automatic weapon, so I just lift my CZ 550 hunting rifle to my shoulders, take aim, and fire when I see him lined up in my cross hairs. I only get off a single shot in his direction. He immediately dodges it and veers to my left and fires off a few paniced shots in my direction before moving on. I don't know if I might have wounded him, but despite having an inferiour weapon I take up the hunt, running parallel with a block of houses between us. At any time I could run right into him, and with a hunting rifle I'd be sorely outgunned, so I stop for a moment to pull out my revolver. Not like that would help much against his weapon, but it was better than nothing. Once I got out on the other side I couldn't see anything. But then I hear a sound over at the church, so I head over there. And there he was! He spots me too, and goes prone behind some rubble, but it doesn't help as I'm too close. For some reason he does not get time to fire his weapon. Instead of waiting for him, I take aim and fire three shots at him while charging. The first shot must have hit him in the head, because he immedately goes limp on the church floor. Sacrilege... When I get up to him, blood is still slowly pumping out his forehead. I check out his loot and I see he's got an M16 and lots of ammo. Apparently this was no noob. His dog tags say "Hankatten97". After I've calmed down a bit, and placed a ceremonial soda can at his head, I head up to the car pool. There I grab a bike and head on North. Ring, ring! Illustration paths are approximations only.

So the problem is simple after a server restart all vehicles are back to their respawn point. We just spend 2 hours repairing a car and brought it back to our camp and saved it after one hour we had to restart the server and the cars was gone again and I just found it at the same spot we repaired it... broken again... kinda makes our server useless :( anyone? -
Kill them, loot them, shoot the vehicles with your thermal AS50 and hop to the next server

Im guessing this is one of those normal players that "licked the dumbstick". If you're bored maybe you are playing the wrong game? Call of Duty, ive heard its more action in there. Go try it out. Great place for kids to get together in :thumbsup: If you're bored then like i said, its not your type of game. You have no patience, so you spawn the items. Clearly says you arent here for the experience of dayz, but for the pvp since you removed the whole experience of making your way up in items. Love that you gave your money and recived very little from it. I can agree with one thing. I would too love to repair up a vehicle, not just to steal one. Thing is that you who has clans. You guys farm the vehicles.. to what use? Let them stand in the forrest/your camp without making use of them? Wouldnt it be beter to have some sort of car chases instead of watching it rust away everyday when you spawn in? Nah, cant be.
