  1. Find a team, get vehicles and make a team.
  2. Go all out on a mass killing spree, if you die then just start again. I got bored of the game when I had a character alive for aver 3 weeks, nearly 5k zombie kills and not a lot to do. I just geared up went on the highest populated server I could join and turned to banditry. After I had gotten a ton of kills I finally died. I started fresh and have had so much fun since. Also I spend a lot of time fixing vehicles since they aren't saving correctly. That usually keeps me busy and going on an adventure to go find parts.

    Is it really worth it?

If it's on Vilayer,,, you have the option to set how many vehicles spawn, add side chat (Global chat) if you'd like, switch between chernarus and lingor, I'll get my friend who runs a server to add more when he's awake.

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

according to the guy who closed your thread - hive wipe does wipe vehicles and tents too I'd welcome a full wipe on every major update so people don't forget they are alpha testers (like that guy above whining about losing 'progress')
  5. Wiping hive completely will wipe tents and vehicles. Tents and vehicles and players on a non official hive will have no effect on playes playing on the official hive. Locked as I don't see fit for this thread to continue.

All players with vehicles are hackers?

Lmfao at all vehicles are hacked in, In the last 4 day's alone I have fully repaired and refueled 5 Helicopter's and flew them each for over five hour's. Granted I have a group of 4 people helping me but even with server restart's it takes us maybe 45 minutes to get a helicopter fully repaired and in the air. The key to it is, Once you have the vehicle up and running use it to stock up on parts for the next one. After about the second vehicle you will start having more part's than you know what to do with. There's a rhythm to repairing vehicles and unfortunately you just haven't found that rhythm yet. Many people have listed numerous step's to getting vehicles up and running. I have gotten god only know's how many vehicles up and running all by myself but no matter how prepared you are, You will never match the speed soloing it as you would with a group. Just my 2¢.
  7. I wouldnt give the Admin the rights to spawn stuff where they want , but the right to likely spawn new vehicles at random spots (restrictet number). And the building ability. And i want a fucking despawn/respawn random in the map all thats in the Debug plains Area Command

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

I'm all for it. I can't tell you how many M107s, AS50s, FNFALs, and L85 thermals I've been finding on people, vehicles, and tents in the last three weeks. A LOT, It's absolutely ridiculous! The CZ is actually rarer than the rarest sniper rifles :| . I remember this one dead jerk next to a tent. He had three coyotes with the exact same nice stuff in each of them. And besides, having everybody start out fresh would be fun! :beans: :emptycan: Not quite as related, but while I'm at it; can we have less heli crash spawns? I found three heli crashes in one day. That day ended with something like 3 night vision FNFALs, 2 MK48 Mod 0s, something like 3 Bizons, 2 DMR, 2 M14, and plenty of ammo. Not sure if I'm forgetting anything, I just thought "wow this is ridiculous, how are we going to carry any food?" edit. guy above,..............I know a guy who has lived a lot of days as well. It's because he hasn't logged in the game in over a month, so it's kind of hard to give a shit how long the game says you lived.
  9. it's not an official server, it'll be up only when we are on. Basically come and have some fun for a while. Massive playerbase with alot of vehicles/every weapon.
  10. Hi guys Once again with a lame question I was just wondering how to get a fresh Map to start on With no tents or saved vehicles starting fresh.. I have found that back on the 27/08 Some one by the name of "Jhavidian" Spawned in over "50 "TentStorage" 431:405 [13565,3304,51]" and "50 Sandbag1_DZ" 431:447 [13560,3317,53]" and has placed them all over the place and each time i do a restart they are still their ... so is it possible to get rid of them ? Cheers PainKiller

attrition, to fight the loot inflation

Have the hive detect hacked weapons and kill all characters carrying them. Turn deer stands down a tier. Prevent loot farming. Fix or remove tents. Delete tent/vehicles out of bounds. Wipe hive.
  12. Hello fellow survivors, as most of you are aware vehicles have been resetting all over the place on most 1.7.2.5 servers and that's been quite an annoyance for me and my clan who lost both our cars. Anyway, i was wondering if either vehicles could be reset back to their positions in 1.7.2.4 or all the vehicles just be reset when 1.7.3 is released or if they dayz team can tell, reset the vehicles that have been glitched. I know people probably think 'OMG you obviously hoard vehicles and ruin everyone's fun!' well, both of our vehicles we've randomly come across and we only kept as many as we need (2 cars being that they're 5 of us :)). I understand that this is an alpha and things do happen i mean i've lost all my gear about what.. 6 times to debugging. I also know a lot of people will get annoyed if this does happen but the vehicles have majorly glitched, i've even heard of cars turning into buses and bicycles after a restart >.< Madness! I also want to know if anyone has been able to keep their vehicles from 1.7.2.4? Because so far from what i've read it seems to have affected most people but if it's only just a few then i guess never mind

attrition, to fight the loot inflation

Pointless at this stage of the game, there are a 1000+ more pressing issues. Weapons are useless without ammo. There is already loss built into the game because you are rather limited in what you can carry, vehicles are massive targets and get destroyed (so their cargo is destroyed), and you can hide bodies. I'm not saying the hacking isn't rampant, but you don't need to be a hacker to create an unlimited supplies of gear with the tent & hive issues. So there is no good reason to hack in gear that is part of the game. You just need 1 of them and some patience. Since "everyone" puts camps in similar locations, you can just keep stealing from each other and the loot spirals out of control. A solution to this problem "right now" would be frequent hive wipes until tent-duping can be fixed or remove tents from the game. Since this is Alpha and not a supported game that we pay for, they should not do any extra work that deviates them in the slightest from reaching Beta then Gold.

    Skill System

There are ways to dramatically change the meta-game in the right direction that would probably require less effort than adding and balancing dogs. For instance, adding skills to survivors that give minor bonuses, such as medical skills (maybe it takes less time to transfuse, bandage, morphine, and epi, and there's a chance that the item is not consumed when used), or engineering skills (same deal but for repairing vehicles). I actually have a whole set of ideas for skills that could be developed with very little work. These accomplish many of the goals of improving meta-game in meaningful ways; you may not want to kill someone if they're a good doctor or mechanic because their skills can be valuable to you as well if you team up. This encourages player interaction and provides a great reason to avoid death other than having to gear up again. There should be 2 kinds of skill ranks for each skill; theoretical and practical. Theoretical skill ranks would unlock new actions, such as applying morphine and transfusing, while practical skill ranks would improve the ability to perform those actions (quickness of action, chance of not consuming item used, and reduction in critical failure chance, for example). This would come with the addition of new items to the game: skillbooks. Reading skillbooks would increase theoretical skill, allowing players to gain access to new actions easily and quickly by obtaining and reading skillbooks, or being taught by players who already have the theoretical skill level (new player interaction, nice?). For balance reasons, skill books might need to be consumed upon use (otherwise you could just stockpile 1 of each and skill out at a tent). Practical skill levels will be gained by performing the actions, and will be given skill-gain bonuses if supervised by an already skilled player. This fixes a lot of problems I believe many players are having with the meta-game; not much meaning to survival, little player interaction besides shooting/healing each other, very little reason to think before shooting another player, general boredom once geared, etc. Potential Skills: Hunting - alters use of bear traps or other potential traps you could set, in adition to allowing more meat from gutting animals, also possible tracking skill. Medical - alters use of medical items and gives a chance to not consume medical items upon use. Also, if infection from wounds is added, could alter treatment of or prevention of infections. Engineering - alters amount of parts required to fix vehicles, and allows repairing in the first place. If scavenging is introduced, will increase amount of scavenged material from cars and whatnot. Aerobics - slightly increases run speed and ability to run without getting tired (very slightly). Swimming - slightly increases swim speed (should up swim speed anyway, it's preposteriously slow). I also will propose a crafting system to swing us away from simply looting powerful guns and going and killing people with them (making the game basically a deathmatch) and towards small arms, ammo management, and need to scavenge for parts to create weapons and ammo. This will be in another thread. Obviously, skills related to crafting would be added for that as well, and should follow a similar overall design. I also suggest weapon durabilities with an additional repair or maintainance skill, but I will save those for the crafting thread.

All players with vehicles are hackers?

There's two type of players I hate. People who steal the vehicles I've painstakingly repaired and hidden in a bush out of the way. And People who hide vehicles out of the way and leave them there. Heck, even worse are the people who hold not one, but MANY vehicles. Even the frikkin' bikes are hidden in bushes. Now, if there was a few bikes per townlet, it would be okay. But you can forget about ever finding one. Only once did I find a vehicle in a "legitimate" way. it was the car that had been stolen from me a day prior (all of my stuff was still in it). It was hidden, badly, in a bush near the road west of where I had been killed. Surely enough, I found the camp a north-east from the UAZ. There was a quad, a bus and a bike. Damaged the quad's engine, stole the bike (and dropped it a bit further south in a bush) and placed my three bear-traps around the bus, one directly near the entry-door. Illegitimately, I've asked around for the cords of old bicycles a few times. I prefer ridding a bike. Really, I'd up the bike spawn rate by a few factor and have them respawn every few server restarts so new players actually have a chance of finding one.
  16. Heyas, I been playing for almost 2 weeks now, still getting used to DayZ but I feel a bit more comfortable now. My ingame name is HeronGuard (reference to an old game called Myth made by Bungie before Microsoft bought them^^) I am now looking for people that are close to my mindset, as it has been extremely tedious - in fact impossible - to make contact with anyone ingame through ptt. People either freak out and run away or start trying to find out where I am from the direction of the voice to just gun me down. I'll just give you my type of game logic I am having. 1) I'm a terrible target to shoot at, as there is nothing rare to loot on me. Given where you might find me, you are much likely to have "better" things already on you. Besides, seeing a hatchet/crossbow while he does not see you won't be much of a threat. Left mouse button is the most simple solution. Do as you wish, whatever the endgoal of pressing it, or simply don't and observe me for a bit, or approach me and give clear signs and ingame ways to convince me you are friendly. I won't flee but keep ways to avoid upclose contact with you if possible. It takes radical means to kill people. It also does to gain people's trust. 2) I won't shoot others and rather help; need blood? I never carry bloodbags, but I can provide you cooked meat and hunt animals in the surroundings until you're back on foot. Looking for something in particular? Since I scour the places a lot I do tend to remember where you could find what you're looking for if I saw them. I could go and help you, or if you rather go alone/only with your mates, I will just give you the directions. I won't lie to you as I don't see the point and even warn you if spotted or suspected hostile activity were near the area. 3) You/a buddy needs morphine? I might have one or two at best, if not, none ever. In either case, even if I have only one morphine shot, I'll give it to you. I've gotten used to crawl for hours when I'm unlucky and get mike tison'ed by a zed. Why? By moving slowly I actually found out that it helps me a lot to memorize the areas a lot faster, in details. Anything of slight interest for the modest wandering scavenger, outsider looking for water sources, likeliness of animals to hunt in given areas, I get to crank those in my head better. The crawling struggles simply ended up being the most efficient way for me to learn the map ^^ But hey. That doesn't mean you can shoot me in the leg after I give you my only morphine for you or your buddy :3 4) Things I will not tell: spotted military grade weaponry under any form. I do not want to help people who wish to gear up in the aims of being able to use such weapons, as they are clearly designed to gun down other players in a much more efficient manner. They are what KoS players wish to use more than any other type of weapon. I will however, should you wish to go to a designated area that will spawn these types of weapons, tell you if I saw/suspect player activity in the area you are wishing to go to. That's as far as I'll help on that department. 5) If I find tents/vehicles that have military weapons inside it, I will destroy it, or dish out the gear that I consider ill-purposed and save state it. Not joking. The less warfare available, the safer my travels are. 6) If you are a bandit/survivor/camo/gullie: If you try to shoot me and I see you, I will retreat at all costs. If I am forced to shoot back, I will. If I am fortunate in retaliation and happen to get you unconscious, I will unarm you if possible before you go unconscious. Yes, I will have room in my backpack to do this. This should furthermore tell you how little there is to loot from me. "What are you gonna do about those weapons then, keep 'em for yourself?" That's on 7). 7) If I want to opt for optimal cautiousness, I might even try to take out a zed nearby, transfer your weaponry to its body and I will hide the zed's body. It is possible that I use other kinds of tricks to make sure that you cannot be hazardous to my health once you wake up. I will not kill you however - if you are a survivor/camo/gullie, that is. If you are a bandit, you'll get what you give: death. I wish to keep my heroskin as it benefits my explorer style, running faster, so the only person I *might* kill is just the bandit that opened fire on me. I'm friendly but there is a line to draw. "But not all bandits are what they seem they are!" Idd it is true, KoS policy from better safe than sorry, shoot first ask questions later is, in a sense, an understandable way of thinking in DayZ. However once you have a bandit skin from this logic, you are forcing people to apply that rule onto you. I will not shoot you unless you drop your weapon, walk away from it and look at an opposite direction than onto me and your weapon. It is my only possible way to interact with you if you really intend no harm to me. If I see you doing a switch weapon motion and/or start running, you're might end up with a few primitive consumables called arrows in your body. You can giggle if you want, but it's actually a good weapon to knock people unconscious in but one hit and I got used to shooting the crossbow since I begun to play, it's been almost the only weapon I have been using since I started playing this game ^^ I think that sums up my behavior in game. Remember, a dead body gives you loot for sure. A dead body also does not drag you to cover and patch you up while you are unconscious and defenseless. Just saying... In a nutshell, I'm starting to do what a friendly would do with some common sense of keeping cautiousness a priority, without systematically using the left mouse button. I am fluent in both french, english and live in EU. If some peeps want to tag along with a player like this, send me a pm. I wouldn't mind joining a private server, hive-connected or not as well. Heck, maybe even join some clan that have similar wishes to play the game like I do ^^

As of right now we have updated to the most recent patch and we are fairly confident that it has 'fixed' the tents and vehicles on the server. We have done one restart so far and it looks like it's actually working. Please feel free to let us know if it's not working correctly so we can look further into it. steam - ledesimus skype - ledesimus1

    Bus O Doom

Maybe a hacker? I heard of hackers who don't show on player list. Or as Novac suggested, it was a very, very small piece of rock or rubble. Vehicles are super bugged.
  20. Honestly. I'm tired of this shit. This happens once daily for me. And you can guess it just happened a few minutes ago as well. I gather all my gear so meticulously and tediously only to lose it all the next time I log in. Not exaggerating, this happens to 20% of the servers I join. I have to cross my fingers every time. I hop servers sometimes to avoid lag (which is another issue in itself), and even on my favorite servers this happens. I'm officially quitting this poor excuse of a game until all of these countless game-breaking glitches are repaired (the tents and vehicles too. what a joke. no wonder everyone dm's) which is probably not for a long while as their efforts are now diverted to developing the standalone game. I feel like a total sucker for buying arma just for dayz, and believe me I am. Don't get me wrong this game was fun when I was actually playing with my friends and not staring at the loading screen, but when it daily takes away the fruits of hours of scavenging, I feel compelled to flip my shit by the fifth time I spawn dead in a week. I've lost all patience. I know this game's in alpha but at least have some functionality that's promised in the damn game description. by the way I did not have a ghillie suit Also the funny thing is that all of my deaths in the past week are due to this issue. It's almost like it's a feature of the game, having a chance to spawn dead for added difficulty. Besides all the other absolutely ridiculous ways to kill yourself with menial tasks like opening a gate, standing on a rock, or walking around in narrow spaces. Actually getting shot and killed seems so alien to me now. The objective of this game should be: "see how long you can survive until you randomly lose all your shit. then start over."
  21. This is the only server I will play on. Excellent load times(15-30 seconds maximum) As a US user I usually range from 20-70 ping, with never having ever seen a yellow or red chain. Full daylight so I can play whenever I want, and great spawn times on vehicles. I am so sold.
  22. Every weekend the same thing. I survive all week, walking/driving all the map on servers 5+ players everyday. Comes weekend, BAM! Killed by script kiddies. Now, go and try to report them on the forum. What do you get? People laughing of your ruin. Asking for video proof, saying that otherwise it didn't happen. You know why? So they can laugh harder at your disgrace on youtube. I went through a lot of cheat report posts and all of them had people making jokes. Is that our community, really? Everybody is waiting for the stand alone to come and save us all from peril, like a divine intervention to free us from the glitches, sploits and "hackers". Despite of my huge hope in this game, I'm a bit skeptical about all these promises. Personally I believe the stand alone will have much of the problems we are having now because people who play DayZ don't take hacking seriously enough. This weekend I was playing with a group of people and all of them had hacked weapons. Not the usual ones, the ones that are not in the game, like the thermal scoped sniper rifles and such. I saw people asking favor from hackers and praising them by their awesomeness in spawning ammo crates and vehicles. Just to be killed the next moment by them. Maybe the game is too difficult to the average player. Maybe they are just bored with the lack of updates/new stuff. But nothing justify the silence of the good part of the community. I know there are real players out there, who plays it because it's a challenge. I've met many online several times. But they are slowly giving up and I can understand them. Look the case of the DayZ stars Frankie and Sacriel. They can't record a session without being interrupted by "hackers". I don't know if someone agrees with me, but we should take some action against this filth that took our game. I made a promise to myself to report all hacker activity I can, and I pretend to record it on video as well, despite of it being an optional piece of information. I encourage people to do the same. Battleye is not handling so many scripters, but we can help get to them by policing ourselves.

All players with vehicles are hackers?

You are playing the wrong patch. Vehicles are working and saving just fine on 1.7.2.4. Why everyone is still using (and bitching about) Hotfix 1.7.2.5 when it broke vehicles and did not even fix the glitches it was released to address is beyond me. 1.7.2.4 is the only way to go until we can see how much 1.7.3 breaks.

All players with vehicles are hackers?

Lol all vehicle owners are hackers. . . . Im a solo player and most of my game time is to find a vehicles fix them and hide them in my camp sites. I remember at one point I had 5 bicycles, 1 bus, 1 pbx, 2 offroad pickup, 3 atv, and a Ural spread out in 3 camps in case one gets raided. Ive found choppers too but I usually just blow them up since I dont know how to pilot them. I play on a mid pop server where on day time there's 20-30 people online. I do agree finding parts can be time consuming but you dont have to fully repair a vehicle to drive it. All you need is to do is put the missing tires and a jerry can to fuel it then you drive it to your secured camp. From there, you can take your time finding the other parts. The new version 1.7.2.5 is a bit broken atm since vehicles tend to respawn where it was last found broken so if your really fixated on finding a vehicle and keeping it long term i would suggest playing on 1.7.2.4 or older servers.
  25. Server: AU50 Time 11:05PM AUST EST I was making my way from the NE Airfield to the NW airfield, had about 4500m to go in a trailbike, just got teleported to some forest area surrounded by alot of other vehicles. I herd music playing, stupidly got off and looked around. Was a player named slender in a ghillie suit, he started shooting at me, I fired back and must have pumped half a clip of MP5 into him. did nothing. No idea where I teleported to. Please look at the logs and ban Slender. Coincidentally, I saw a ton of vehicles including boats, Not far from bolta airfield. Id suspect slender also spawned these too.
