What's up all, So I think now that 1.7.2.6 is released, and the tents/vehicles now save properly, we might start seeing more action in the north, as the current tents (Everyone knows about, the ones that reset all loot inside on each server restart) from 1.7.2.5 ~ start to get emptied and saved, provided all those servers update to the current dayz version.. these tents/camps will slowly start to dissapear, I mean I know people will still be able to spawn in items, but I don't think 90% of the players spawn their own items, I think like 10% of players have hacks/cheats and can spawn items, so we'll slowly see a lot of the AS50 TWS, and other hacked guns slowly dissapearing. as people die with them and they no longer just respawn back in the tents at which they were obtained from. Personally, this opens up a lot more of the game again, at least over time I think it will.. and I've grown pretty tired of roaming the hills around Elektro/Cherno & all other coastal cities, killing snipers, who are killing new spawns they disconnect after dying to come back 15 mins later, fully geared again, as the tents slowly get cleaned up of duplicated items or at least have had their ability of respawning all items on server restart removed, people will actually need to go north, to loot places like NWAF/Stary Sobor, and this means we might get to see some more pvp in these area's that before duping, were always a place you could go to have a little fun. granted not all duping is fixed, but a major part of it is. and for those players who enjoy roaming the wilderness looking for player camps looting/destroying them, that brings a whole new level of satisfaction back to the game, now that when we destroy or loot these camps, the people who made them, will now know about it, as their items won't just return the next time the server reboots. [not related to 1.7.2.6] -- As for the hackers/cheaters whatever you want to call them, I know from experience in many online games, this is something that takes a long time to get rid of, and you will probably never be able to get rid of it 100%, I know a lot of the issues can't be fixed without changing the arma 2 engine, and this is why you're working on the standalone, a lot of the script abusing that allows the cheaters to teleport everyone into a bus or something is part of the arma 2 engine being easily modded (legitimately by players who develop missions and such). once that ability is removed, hopefully in the standalone, the cheaters will really only be able to use the same kind of cheats 90% of us deal with in other online FPS type games, such as wallhacks &/or aimbots, and at least then, these players will still be forced to somewhat play the game, they can't just come into the server, and press a button, kill everyone on the server at one time.. So, on that note, I would just like to say thank you to Rocket and the rest of the Dev team, for this great mod, and keep up the good work, most of the community appreciates it.

Lingor Server W/ACE 1.9(1.7.2.5 / 96584)62 Vehicles Full Moons Every Night and city lights arizona DayZOahu.webs.com
enforcer1975 replied to caos901's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Upping Zeds won't make a difference imo. Even if you had 1 player running through 100 Zeds the other player would still try to shoot that "one player in there". I hope you have installed some countermeasures for the helo and the other vehicles...if that thing goes up there is no stopping it...but the fuel. -
All Our Vehicals have been taken while we were on or in them
shadow_moses replied to ubikPainKiller's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This happened to our server as well last night. Some how the hacker did not show up in the logs at all. I have a good idea who it is but I cannot ban them with out proof. After I restarted the server most of the vehicles went back to the last place they were saved but a few of them are still MIA. -
You totally missed what he's asking about. He wants to restart the server from a clean slate so all the vehicles will be at the original spawn location(like a brand new server). Different than a normal restart. Like others mentioned, the only way to do that is requesting a new instance ID. But I'm not sure they'd do that because the Heli is gone.

I never see people driving vehicles around at all they only get vehicles to use as mobile tents. It would be so much more interesting if people actually used the vehicles they hoard.

This game is fun again!
porkus_maximus replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All my tents across various servers get wiped with the update so all my LEGITIMATE back up gear is gone Respawned back on the coast with all my gear gone after logging off in a completely legitimate manner Killed on a night time server by some faggot with an as50 TWS jump server, respawn on coast, die in 30 seconds to some bush wookie emptying an entire L85 mag into me Can't find any vehicles becuase clans and server hosts are able to hoard them again Hacking still rampant But it's OK, because infected hunters now have a chance to spawn bear traps. -
Hey guys! We all know that many people get a car by hopping between servers at a vehicle spawn location. As these are easy to find with all the vehicle spawn maps on the internet most vehicles are already taken. So here's my suggestion : If there are ~200 different spawn points for every vehicle you can't just stay at one place and hop between servers. You need to search for a repairable vehicle by just walking around. That's just so much more realistic. Right now people know exactly where to search for a certain vehicle so that's pretty boring. With so many spawn points for a vehicle you could even spawn more of them as they're not found so easily. It just makes the game much more interesting and people would walk into each other more often. I hope you like the idea :) Please respond and share your thoughts with me!

Vehicle spawns resetting every server restart
Netro replied to Netro's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You really should have read my whole post before posting. You're response was not helpful at all. -It has nothing to do with the vehicle inventory bug -The vehicles are resetting every restart, no matter what. This is not the case with every server -It has nothing to do with versions as I mentioned in the post that I've tried multiples -The HIVE files have been installed properly as it's simply a package that my host has provided, and no other servers are experiencing this issue -
Room for thought... a few ideas / suggestions
Oakatsura replied to Oakatsura's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No I meant Room for Thought, because I was talking about Buildings and Vehicles, which are technically a room, if I wanted to say Food For Thought I would probably post about new kinds of food, eating wild foods and berries, and talking about dealing with spoiled and bad food as well. Which would envevotably lead to me talking about getting sick, gagging noises, and bad gas as a result of eating improperly. But I'll leave that well enough alone. Im just a pun master. -
Lots of bad information already here. No, it isn't admin abuse, you should restart your server often anyways, it's an important part of server maintenance (I think people don't know that and think every time a server restarts it's because the admin is greedy and wants a helicopter. Those people are...simple). Doing it right after you're killed is one thing, doing it when a hacker hacks a vehicle of course isn't abuse. That is obvious to any adult. Venthos is way off, most tents will stay on a restart but your vehicles should all respawn.
-
Yep. That was a bug. Things are back to normal now where you are punished for getting into helicopters without first learning to fly them first via ARMA2's training missions/armory. You should learn to effectively drive vehicles/fly helicopters before spending the time to repair/use one in DayZ, as skipping the few minutes of training (and crashing) means you wait 7 days for that vehicle to come back.

Vehicle spawns resetting every server restart
venthos replied to Netro's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This is a bug in DayZ 1.7.2.5 that has existed for many weeks and is talked about ad nauseum in this forums. A simple search would've turned up many many multi-page threads about it. Please search next time. A fix was released just yesterday via DayZ 1.7.2.6 for tents/vehicles not saving. Simply update to DayZ 1.7.2.6 *AND* Hive 0.7.4 and you'll be golden. If you *are* on 1.7.2.6, you've either failed to update your Hive to 0.7.4 or have otherwise installed some portion of your update incorrectly. -
Friends and I launched a server wednesday night. We gathered a few cars and stashed them at our secret location. Logged off for the night. The next morning before I left for work i logged in to see if the vehicles where still their. The v3s was missing. So I ran for a few minutes to check the URal, it was also gone. So I ran to the atv's//motorbike, all gone. I went to work. When I got home I ran to the Ural spawn and it was sitting right at the spawn. after spending 2-3 hours collecting parts I assembled it and went back to all the spawns and every vehicle we saved were back at the spawn. We went through the process of fixing up an ATV/Ural/UAZ/Motorbike/2bikes. Stashed them all up north. Logged in this morning and of course all 6 vehicles which were all stashed away from each other were gone once again.. This is becoming rather frustrating. Defeats the purpose of paying for a server and playing this game. Is there a way to fix this? My friend says we can reset our hive and that should fix the issue with vehicles saving, but apparently it is against the Dayz rules to do so. Not sure why we they have put rules in place to prevent server owners from fixing known bugs. Sounds like some butt hurt Dev lost his vehicle after an admin reset on him and decided to implement a one sided rule.

All Our Vehicals have been taken while we were on or in them
spex replied to ubikPainKiller's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Happened on my server last night. All players and vehicles were teleported to the woods just north of Elektro. Luckily everyone on the server was in Teamspeak except 1 person. It made figuring out who did it much easier. -
Hello, I'm wondering how I could go about having a DEV take a look at our InstanceID or if there are any issues that may cause what is happening to us. We have a pretty new server, not even a week old. Battleye works, admin commands work great and there really are no issues except for the fact that EVERY TIME we restart the server (hard reset, battleye reset, doesn't matter) our vehicles reset back to the spawn. I can't confirm if tents are disappearing but it may be happening as well. It's my understanding that vehicle resets cannot be done by modifying files (I didn't even touch the config files anyways) and that it's controlled by the backend/HIVE. How do I go about troubleshooting this? Does my host need to contact its source at DayZ? EDIT: This happened on 1.7.2.5 BETA 9061 and the most recent 1.7.2.6 BETA 96584. Multiple server restarts do not bring the vehicles back. The inventory in the vehicle is reset and the vehicle is in it's original, broken state.

We logged on this morning to all of our vehicles gone too. Could it be an issue in the backend possibly? I'd like to know how I can contact a DEV and see if they can view any issues with my instanceID. Is your server a new one? -

Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 200 players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved. If you're interested check out or website @ www.bsbnetwork.com and try to hop on our Teamspeak 3 server and say "hi!" 212.187.246.58:9140 We have about 25 players online playing Day Z right now -
Welcome one welcome all, to the Mujahideen! The Mujahideen are a clan of predominantly Muslim DayZ players, specifically bandits. Non Muslims are welcome, but the clan is religious in founding, so keep that in mind. Overall, the clan is welcoming and friendly to all new or potential members, if you have any questions please PM me and I will answer them to the best of my ability. This is, by the way, my first time making a clan on just about any game, so please cut me some slack if this is a bit sloppy. In short, the Mujahideen seek to establish a stronghold and operate out of it, gathering vehicles, tents, supplies, and building barricades in the stronghold, wherever it may be. So yes, we will be settling down in one server, which is still to be decided. Once the stronghold is secured and set up all loot will be brought back to it and stored in any of the numerous tents, at which point and member of the clan may enter and take what he or she needs, this goes for vehicles as well. As for rules of the clan there are a few simple ones, starting with the obligatory 3 rules below. 1: Do not discriminate, in any way shape or form, against other members of the clan. 2: Do not insult ANY religious belief of ANY member, this also applies to the non-religious beliefs of atheists 3: Never kill another member of the clan for any reason, if you are killed by a fellow clan member and it is not an accident report it immediately and he will be kicked after an investigation. 4: Never kill unarmed players or players running along the coastline 5: Never endanger the lives of your fellow Mujahideen willingly. 6: Snipers are to hunt selectively in high traffic areas, specifically targeting heros first, survivors second, and other bandits third. If you are a sniper then it is your job to provide overwatch during raids as well, preferably with a partner 7: During raids the clan is to be orderly and efficient, like a well oiled machine. Leave no survivors alive if you encounter them (unless they are unarmed) and always be sure to keep the interests of the clan in need when looting, for instance, if we are running low on food, prioritize shopping malls and gather all of the food you can, then move on to military spawns for equipment. These are all of the rules, I hope to see applications to join very soon. Application Form Name: (Both your DayZ forum name and your real name, first name only.) Age: Religious affiliation: What role you would best be assigned to in the clan: (Sniper, Rifleman, Machine Gunner, etc.) How long you've played DayZ: How long you have been a bandit: (How long you've actively hunted other players.) Skill level in PvP combat: (Can you hold your own against multiple players or can you just take one at a time?) Can you use a sniper rifle effectively in DayZ: (Do you know the mil-dot system and/or the dragunov's ranging system?) Are you a good driver: (More than just can you navigate a road, can you get in and out of a city quickly to pick up fellow Mujahideen after a raid?) Your preferred weapon: If I sneeze, what do you say? Barakallah my friends, I look forward to seeing you soon.

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.6 Rolling Update
Falconrockateer_ replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Gotta give props that this update looks like a winner! I can now play again (couldn't get onto servers since 1.7.2.4) and loading up was very fast for me. Vehicles and tents saving too, looks like we're headed in the right direction. IMO rocket should take his time on 1.7.3 and release that when its ready, not worry about any more hotfixes unless this latest update creates some unknown bug -
I know one of the "Major Upgrades" that is still up in the air is underground construction / bases set by rocket. Have you ever thought that maybe you should develop things like underground parking lots, utility basements, utility tunnels, sewers, storm systems, that have a set number of zombies that appear every 48 - 72 hours within a specified area that need to be cleared out, and once their dead their respawn timer begins ticking down from 48 - 72 hours. This way they can develop a base within the underground bunker away from the spawning areas, but still need to defend it against both players and zombies on a timing basis, and doesn't interfere with the normal zombie population. If you think about it, there is just as much cities above ground as there is under the ground of it. Its more believable using things like Utility Tunnels / Basements, Underground Parking Structures, and Stormdrains then making completely unique bases from scratch. This would inturn give players more than just a surface base extraction route, if they are taking fire from bandits within a city, and also give more options to move into a city, but at the same time allow for a more dangerous route if it is plugged with zombies that hadn't been cleared out prior to exploration. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one is probably gonna get me a lot of downward thumbs, but I believe vehicles need more parts... not a sense that we need a transmission, differentials, catalytic converters or alike, but a variety of engines that provide different kinds of performance, maybe better gripping tires, racing slicks, and off-road tires which allow vehicles to perform better in different kinds of scenarios. Lets face it no one likes driving in the middle of the night, while its raining with tires that already feel like racing slicks. Bullet-resistant glass, bullet-proof glass, and standard glass. Different kinds of scrap metal that add different layers of resistance from damage, or add speed to do weight. And I need to add this just to get some thumbs up. Give us Nitro! It can work on so many more levels then just vehicle performance. and just for craps and giggles I'll give a basic idea of the parts. Tents in 1.7.2.5 only work in their "first save state" meaning the first time you save it, that is what it will contain. There is a unoffcial fix, that not all servers have installed. In 1.7.2.6, tents and vehicles are supposedly fixed again (i haven't tested, since my server provider is being slow to update)

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
Johnny_Pfosten replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The weather/climatic system and how it should impact your health condition I thought about different climatic areas and how they could effect your health condition. Of course the map would need a proper size and not to much different climatic areas so it won't become unrealistic. The basic idea is that the map transitions from a moderate climate to polar region as the game is settled in a post-soviet state. On the south coast and parts of the south-east coast a more moderate climate (temperateness) would occur. The weather would consist of more rain and sometimes storms with greater waves on the ocean and from time to time bright sunshine. This climate should not effect your health condition to much but you would have to take care of too much rain/storms and the temperature at night. High waves will get dangerous for boats. Also in this climatic area more vegetation and (dangerous) animals would appear. If you travel up north into the inland and parts of the east coast it will get slowly colder and vegetation/animals gets more and more less on your way so you have climatic transition (subarctic climate/tundra). In this area it rains from time to time and sometimes heavy winds occur. To stay here for a longer time will slowly take you temperature down and at night the coldness can become mortal danger. So you would have to find cover/fire from time to time or some thermal clothing. The north and north-east coast would be a winter landscape/polar region full of snow and ice. Less but therefore more dangerous animals (e.g. ice bears) would appear. The climate in this area would be a hostile to life with a lot of snowing, blizzards from time to time and ice floes on the north-east coast. You can't stay long alive in this area without having the right survival skills and gear otherwise you become hypothermic very fast. Thermo clothing would be the basic gear to survive here, blizzards can kill you easily when you don't find (or maybe build?) some kind of cover/shelter and wild animals could kill you when you don't pay enough attention. Of course the weather/climatic condition needs to impact on a lot of other things: flight characteristics of bullets driveability of vehicles damage taken of tents/vehicles zombie behavior ... This way the environment would become a lot more dangerous (as it is way to easy at the moment) and it would require a lot more skill to go up north for looting/raiding/surviving. Maybe even team play benefits from that as surviving on your own would be much more difficult. -
Why is everybody so satisfied with ARMA2 Engine?
Lupin-III replied to EndEffeKt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Codemaster's EGO engine for the newer Operation Flashpoint games could easily do a better job at this game. It's still got the bullet physics, the large play areas, better hit location, damage physics, has the wide variety of guns, far more building interiors, superior graphics, and still manages to run at a higher framerate. It's still a simulator engine, but it's more polished and better experience than the aging Real Virtuality system. I do prefer ARMA 2's aircraft and helicopter handling though and overall variety of vehicles. I've got Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, ARMA, ARMA2 (obviously), Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, and Operation Flashpoint: Red River... I've pretty much experienced everything both engines have to offer up to this point. The Real Virtuality system has not evolved much, and is barely a visual upgrade from what it looked like in Cold War Crisis. The X-Ray engine from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. would also be a fantastic choice for a zombie apocalypse game.
