  1. Unfortunately, Private servers are the only sure fire way to restrict hacker abuse, what with Battle-Eye being a pile of wank. I play on a private server with ZERO admin abuse, no banning for no reason, no spawning in vehicles/weapons, no nothing. I'd be quite happy with a restriction on admins, provided it happens AFTER the hacking issues are sorted (presumably then, after standalone release)
  2. search the north or the west of the map, you will find a lot of camps and maybe an entire float of vehicles..take with you some parts if you can because some people breaks their cars so it's harder to steal them
  3. I'd honestly say that your video is better than a LOT of others. You have a good personality for this kind of thing. One thing I'd suggest is to cut the video from running then to the chopper. That would be great, considering you ended up having to start singing to keep the mood from getting too dry. It was the bulk of the video, but it might be a bit necessary. the video overall wasn't too long, which is great. Some things you have to look for when posting videos are 1. what people want to get out the video they're watching, and then give it to them, and 2. how long is it. If the video is too long and doesn't capture your attention fully, a video showing first impressions should be under 10 minutes, or even 8. Before making the video, get your objective clear. If you say, want to show the community what the map is like, then you need to say things like "this place is flat" or some witty variant, followed by some effects of that, as in you could get shot very easily by anyone, and driving vehicles would be easier than anywhere else. If you want to show only your first impressions and don't really have a preference on the community, then you did great. I guess it comes down to whether you'd be a reviewer for others, a player for yourself, or both. Anyway, nice video, and pts for having a parrot (atleast it's not a freaking dog)! Also, where were the zombies? There seemed to be none on that video....

    you canceled your server because you couldn't find a chopper? wtf??? EDIT: back to topic however, try scouring the most western and northern fringes of the map, better chance of finding vehicles and camps up those ways
  5. Come on not this again...you clearly play on the wrong servers...On our server we fight we die we fight and get our stuff back. We don't even hoard vehicles because you can't protect them that well anyway. We don't even have our own camp. Not really...some tools are intended to control player behavious, if it is used that way it is abuse. But the way you say it every admin is abusive.
  6. Okay guys, i usually play on this server, nothing special. My group and I are now looking for a few vehicles. We had the chopper for an evening, at some point, but was lost due to hackers. What I am asking, we have been around the whole map in hopes of finding a few, any will do. We have not seen or heard the chopper since that day, but we found a few tractors and bikes. If you park them out of the map, that black bordewr that runs along the map, will they stay there? Because they are really gone. We do not want to hoard them all or anything, but the van is quite cool, and so is the white pickup. Can someone clarify?

    How are servers going to operate in standalone?

    So why is it ok to offload a % of the cost of making and running a multiplayer game onto the customer? I'm not a massive gamer, but I have never played a game whereby the customer base has to pay the cost of running the game, seems absolutely ridiculous to me! Machiavellian even. Why don't all game makers do this and save themselves the cost? Makes me wanna say 'facking cheap money grabbing bastids!' Also I bet that 80% of admins have most of the vehicles.
  8. I've been playing DayZ for about three months now and for about 95% of that time I've been on the official, public hive. I never experienced the DayZ that some people speak warmly about, before everyone started duping, hacking and killing each other on sight not only most of the time, but all the time. So after having fun but more or less accepting the random deaths via hostile teleportation, finding tents with ghillies, as50'ies, silenced m4 etc. pretty much everywhere it started to get to me. Everywhere I read that the game was "too easy". Well, the game isn't "too easy", the duping and hacking is making a completely different game - and I've just found the holy graal, SE9 and SE10 (zombies.nu). First of all you have to register to get access to the hive. That in and of itself removes a lot of hackers. Second of all, the hive is only running on two servers, meaning ghosting is pretty much nonexistent. Now, I realize that there are lots of private hives like this, but Tansien (who runs SE10 and 9) has improved upon the mod by adding features according to my needs, such as: * No more combat logging = your body stays in game for 30 seconds * No AS50 or L85 = no more noobstation snipers * No item duping = Tansien has made tents work properly (rocket should hire this guy tbqfh) * Weapons do full damage = Rifles are truly deadly, just like IRL, they are no longer nerfed like what was done in one of the beta patches (pistols are still the same) * Vehicles respawn properly = No more hiding the vehicles so no one can use them * Vehicles that are moved outside the map boundries explode etc. etc. This private hive is amazing. And playing on this hive is, bottom line, a completely different, better experience than on the public hive. No more hackers, no more combat logging, no more "everyone has a ghillie and an AS50 and a silenced M4/L85" because duping and tents/vehicles/backpacks is possible. There are some issues though: - Only one server (two iterations) - 54 slots that pretty much always are full - Lots of lag (in spite of great hardware) This can of course be improved upon by donating some cashdough to Tansien so he can improve upon the hive. Head over to his zombies.nu and read more about it, register and try DayZ at its potential.

    Saving tent + vehicle

    Tents sometimes save properly. Vehicles always save properly since the new patch in my experience. If items go in a tent or vehicle, they should be back upon server restart. Happy hunting!
  10. Civilian vehicles vs as50, vehicles which have no defences, no armor and no chances against this noob canon, yeah it's easy to why some people want this, but it does not belong in dayz.

    Favorite DayZ map?

    I want to like takistan but the endless desert runs really suck at certain spawns. Been playing fallujah all day and the vehicles are awesome (hummer with .50 Cal was epic, had three kills within 15 minutes with that beast) but I still can't decide how I feel about the place. I love Chernarus but it feels stale, so I give the edge to lingor but hope there is a new contender in the multiple maps that will be released.

    Your basically playing watered-down DayZ. If your servers only up when you want it too then your vehicles are always safe, wheres the fun in that? I breathe a sigh of relief when I log on and see my car still sitting there. DayZ creates an atmosphere that your missing out on when you play it like you are. Try actually playing the game as it was intended, you might get a suprise.
  13. I am looking to make a completely serious DayZ clan/team. I don't mean being absoltuely serious all the time, but when it comes to raiding somewhere popular (NW Airfiled, Stary Sobor, Electro) I want everyone to be serious. Not sure what we will call ourselves, but we can think of a name when we have enough people. I am looking for people that are not afraid to play in high populated servers, even with hackers (f***ing hate them all), and know what they are doing. And for people that are willing to play for long periods of time. Me and a couple friends that I played with before had an amazing camp. We had 6 tents, packed to the brim with RARE weapons. We had 4 vehicles, and 5 medic tents. Tools to spare, and more. Then a hacker comes along and think he is all cool. I don't think I need to say what happens. I myself have a Youtube channel that I use and try my best to upload regularly (haven't been doing much lately, been busy). I have 365 subscribers and going up little by little. I finally played some of the Arma2 campaign, and while I agree that assault rifles and especially exotic sniper rifles should be much less common, keep in mind that the area we operate in has just gone through a major war. I'm not 100% sure if DayZ is meant to proceed the conflict in Arma2. While running through the woods I attempt to piece together what's going on in this region. Almost every town is choked with the remains of military vehicles and there are roadblocks/military encampments all over. I kinda suspect that at some point somebody busted out a nasty bio weapon, and hence we now have a zombie problem. Given that DayZ is what happens after the war it would make sense that there are lots of military grade weapons lying around. That said, even if there were all out war followed by some sort of calamity, there wouldn't be so many high caliber sniper rifles available. M4s and AKs however would be everywhere, especially considering the scale of the military activity.
  15. Dear players, fyi the above server is available but is only started when an admin is in game, otherwise it remains off. This is to prevent people stealing all the vehicles when an admin is not present, vehicle stealing is permitted but running them all off map just for shits n giggles is unnaceptable. The server is up weekends & weekdays @ + 7pm GMT, it has multi vehicle spawns & 30 helicopters, allways set to GMT - 8 to give light in the evenings. Stopping & starting the server will not affect your position or that of any vehicles/tents, everything saves perfectly where you left it. Drop by & say hi!

  17. This first post is now OUT OF DATE. Please see this thread for more details and another video! So, today I started a project. That project being modifying DayZ to include bug fixes for the current DayZ version as well as custom mechanics/features that I think could be interesting. Since my current DayZ server's hostname is "dayz.dieinafire.com", I'm lovingly calling this mod "DayZ DIAF" to indicate its origins. There's a lot to do still before I would consider it workable to start having people play on it. But, with the massive volume of DayZ servers out there I'm not even sure if people care about something like this. So I want to see what interest (if any) is out there. Should there be interest, this would be a whitelist only server when it's put online. Thanks goes to ayan4m1, as I'm utilizing his Private-DayZ dayz_server.pbo code and Hive system as a base for the server-side stuff. The end goal is to hopefully create a near hack-free, absolutely dupe-free and douche-free server environment with some various tweaks to mechanics. I by no means am presenting this as "this is how DayZ should be. I'm right, Rocket is wrong!". I'm just damn curious how things in DayZ's gameplay changes if I spin some dials and pull on some levers. This mod will be a living entity and core mechanics will likely change based on in-game testing and feedback. But, I need people interested in this to even possibly have the chance at some fun. If you have ideas or want to play on the box once I have an initial baseline up and running, let me know. I'd love to have this thing capped out and running a full community at some point. But, this thread could also slip into the ether because everyone thinks I'm an idiot for doing this. Let's find out, shall we? If you fire at somebody or have someone firing bullets near you (they don't have to hit you) then both such players go into "Combat". For testing, this duration is 30 seconds and has an indicator. The "Abort" option is blocked while in combat. If you disconnect for ANY reason while in combat (such as ALT-F4) I can have the server retaliate. Potential plans is to insta-kill the player and spawn a corpse with their loot in their place. This should eliminate combat logging entirely. [ Vehicle Changes ] + MH-6J (Littlebird) added as a pure transport helicopter (Can't wait for these to be buzzing around!). [ Backpack Changes ] - Backpacks are no longer capable of holding any weapons. This attempts to force squads to form and individuals to take on speicalized roles with their weapon choice vs. carrying weapons for all situations on every person. [ Starter Items ] - No longer start with any backpack. Not only does this force you to stay near towns a bit longer, but it makes that little 4 slot vest pouch actually something people might pick up and use! [ Up in the air considerations ] * It sounds hilariously cruel to spawn a blackhawk (either with or without weapons.. not sure) as a single spawn point right in the middle of NWAF's runway. Wouldn't that be a bitch to repair successfully and take? I'd also force its respawn at some interval regardless of its use so the "Blackhawk at NWAF" is always a looming reward. * Thinking of adding some sort of "Crashed Heli" equivalent for newbies on the coast. Either crashed vans or something like that exclusively along the south coast which contains a high chance of low quality gear (ALICE packs, tools, other low-end stuff) (I'll update the list as I remember more... it's late)

    Hackers everywhere!

    Hello i just bought arma 2 to play DayZ and what's my surprise? On EVERY server i've joined there's atleast 4 people with the sniper set spawning items, vehicles, teleporting, etc. This needs to be fixed someway, asap.

    Helicopter Spawn Bug

    In an incredible turn of events and much thanks to the collaborative effort from a group of regular players on my server, we managed to save the helicopter from an eternal loop of exploding into oblivion with each server restart. We located another bus on the server, moved it all the way across the map and brought it to the heli spawn / destruction site. I replayed the videos I've captured over and over of the previous attempts at saving the helicopter to pinpoint exactly where I thought it should go to give us the best shot at cushioning the helicopters drop. I decided on setting up the second bus in a "plus" layout with the original bus and aligning it so that it would be lined up at the same angle lengthwise to the helicopter's orientation. As you can see in the video, I got really lucky and the bus managed to break the fall of the helicopter enough to avoid explosion. In addition to this, after confirming we could repair / refuel the helicopter we moved the remaining bus and the helicopter and then performed another sever restart. Once back up again, we confirmed that the original bus was able to spawn again without any interference so we lost none of the vehicles in the end. Enjoy the video. It's a sight to see.

    Hey, looking for someone serious that wants to work on getting vehicles/setting up a camp on an up-to-date server. I have found it very difficult to find people that are not extremely arrogant, terrible when it comes to strategy, or use hacks. You must be a legit player and modest in whatever voip system we use. I'm not interested if you're a cocky, annoying, and arrogant fool. Also no children, must be at least 19+. No offense to younger players, but statistically speaking, I probably don't want to play with you :P. I'm 23, live in Canada (Eastern), and I have a vent server we can use. I have Skype, but prefer push-to-talk clients far more. I also play SC2 primarily, and a bit of WoW when I am extremely bored. My skype: lukaws1989. I got bored with trying to be the 'nice guy', running around with meds and food waving the white flag to anyone I saw only to get a bullet to the face when I turned to leave What I'm looking for is a mature, only bandit clan, very organized with teamspeak or something along those lines. Preferably with vehicles, a large stash of loot, all that jazz. A private server would be icing on the cake. Currently I'm armed to the teeth, NVGs, Rangefinder, AS50, M9 SD, and an M4A1 CCO SD. Only thing missing is a Coyote backpack. Here's the kicker, I'm not going to set up a meeting with any idiot who comes in here. Took me a hell of a long time to get all this gear, I'm not going to hand it out to someone pretending to have an awesome clan. A website, something, I don't care, would be great. [Changed] Industrial loot will yield much less valuable items ie car parts ,Rotor assemblies and Jerry cans. [Changed] Number of Zeds spawning per player. This will create a "horde" feeling especially in cities and small towns. [Changed] Zeds can now damage vehicles. This should reduce the exploit of hiding inside a vehicle to avoid harm. Also is added to create a feel of urgency as if zeds were breaking windows and causing vehicle damage by being run over. [Changed] All vehicles will spawn in good condition. After initial fill of vehicles on server, settings will BE changed so that if a vehicle is destroyed they will respawn with heavy damage and no fuel. [Changed] Types of weapons that spawn in varied locations ie.Residential, Military, Industrial. Many weapons have now been moved to locations that actually makes sense. For instance AK's, and AR's will not be found in deer stands or a fire station. [Changed] Loot piles overflowing with useful items. Much more trash and rubish litters the map now giving the game a feeling of more desperation and scarcity. [Changed] Crash sites will no longer be an instant jackpot of the best end-game gear. [Changed] Starting load out has removed patrol pack. This allows vest pouches to be put into play. [Changed] Pack sizes have now been reduced. Patrol: 4, Vest: 6, ACU: 10, Czech: 13, Alice: 16, Coyote: 19. This should make team play more tactical since you won't be able to carry two primaries as efficiently. [Changed] All packs now have dedicated spawn locations.For instance patrol packs will be common in residential areas, where as higher capacity packs like the Alice will be more rare and spawn only in military. [Changed] Animal Meat yields. Goat: 2, Boar: 3, Sheep: 3, Cow: 4. Seeing as meat doesn't spoil this should add to scarcity. [Added] Brand new building class "Old Camp". Here you will find loot that would typically be found inside another persons camp. Small arms, low end AR's, ammo,food, survival gear. [Added] Chloroform (rare) to be used in pvp. This will allow for kidnapped/ransome scenarios to play out as it knocks out a victim for 3.5mins. [Added] "Flip Vehicle" action to allow players to do just that when they overturn their transportation. [Added] "Combat Logger" to eliminate combat logging. Once a person engages/is engaged in combat a 30second timer appears and disables "log out". Should also insta-kill anyone who tries to log by alt-f4 or kill process before the timer runs out (still to be tested). [Removed] All OP weapons, including L85, AS50, Fal NVG, M107, SVD, DMR and All SD weapons excluding M9 and MP5 SD.

    Hi! I just found this post and I've jumped into the server for a quick run around. I was told that the server may go private? If it does does that mean your going to password protect it? If so how do we get permission to join the server or do you have a web site that will require registering first? I run a Clan and we are all friendly (till shot at) non hacking!!!!!! group. And we need a server with excellent admin scrutiny. Absolutely sick of our vehicles we find being hacked to the other side of the map. (Atleast thats where I think they go)
  24. Map is terrible. vehicles with mounted weapons all over the place, serious lack of lootable buildings and poor setting that doesn't match DayZ at all. Vilayer failed again in porting DayZ. Everyone's thinking it would be epic with a urban map but the truth is the map doesn't fit dayZ at all and has some serious drawbacks. Only good thing about it is the performance was much better then expected. I wish Vilayer got their head straight and actually worked on porting maps to DayZ that fit the setting and are balanced and not Arma 2 with zombies as a side dish. If i want to ride a HMMWV with a machinegun on top of it i go to play regular arma, not dayZ. Stop the madness. Bring back survival.
