DayZ Breaking Point Mod : Now with new Lingor Map Integration!
DemonGroover replied to mr_seacucumber's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I think little things that add a little authenticity to the experience are vital. Drinking directly from a pond or lake, picking apples and pumpkins included. OK, so a can opener may not seem a big deal but have you ever really tried to open a can without one? Not all cans have pull tabs. Grab an axe, place a tin of beans on the ground and give it a whack - tell me what happens? Tin openers, like boxes of matches would definitely be one of the first things someone should grab. Have you seen Mad Max 2 - he has a can opener on his tool belt. Vital! To be honest i would also like it only be possible to fix vehicles if you had a toolbox. Please explain how you could change a tyre, fix an engine and install a rotor blade without one? -
Adding More Vehicles To Your Hive?
Allie (DayZ) replied to Ihasaaccount's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
In the database there should be a table with all the vehicles and there spawn points, just add some more to the table :) -

Not sure if you guys would ever have had a look at the navigator (Hope you havn't) but I've had people on my skype contacts watch a worrying amount of people go straight to spawned vehicles or other concealed players. More people use the navigator than I first thought, it's actually a bigger problem to me right now than the scripters. -

most bandits are people who play alone and therefore have not enough manpower to do large scale operations of hoarding, I'm sure you'll see everything differently if you join a so called "hoarders" clan, my personal experience is that you will end up with camps so big that if someone discovers it they will feel put off on stealing stuff or blowing everything up, because not only are there not enough satchel charges, there's also too much stuff to carry by a single person, and too many vehicles to dedicate yourself into driving them away, knowing that they will come back to take it from you. Not to count the fact these will be in low pop unadvertised servers with active admins -

Can't say I've had this experience you're talking about. My tents and vehicles have been fine so far but as I leave them in one spot, I know at some point someone will find them eventually - law of averages. Of course you could RELOCATE your base each day or two but that's too much work I guess. Ur also bitching about a game that allows hacking knowing that the SA will address this. Reading that u already play on private hives i'm wondering which ones since the ones i play on seem perfectly well admin'd -

Hi, don't forget you need to keep in mind people can only help you if they know what server you play on - unless you're willing to play on another server where they have a spare car for you to use. In which case, why not join one of the servers that runs with extra vehicles - I know one where I'm always running into them but I'm not really interested in vehicles so I don't bother with them. Edit, I see you did add the server details, well done. I think sticking with one server seems to be quite popular but I've never done it. I'm just glad to find any server that has a low enough ping for me to access it! But as I say, there are servers in the list that have in their title "extra vehicles" and I saw one with "100 vehicles". There isn't a trick. But if you play only one server then remember the admin knows exactly where all vehicles are and when the restarts will be. That means sadly, some of them take the vehicles. Good luck, friend! -
Ybm, I'm convinced the last dayz update was messed with by some intern because spawning has become unreliable and unpredictable. From day one, I can sometimes arrive in a town and find nothing but but empty cans and backpacks. However, I'd be interested in knowing how much, if any control server admins have over loot spawning - apart from freqency. You often see "server restarts every 6 hours" or similar messages but I know of servers where the loot simply doesn't respawn and the vehicles either. And in one instance I was told it was because the admin was busy is real life and had no time to restart the server, so no new stuff. I don't know if that's true but it's certainly a concern. I've gone back the following day and the same stuff is still on the ground in the fire station, for example, so no new weapons, for day after day. Does anyone know for a fact if that could be the problem? Second time today I have to say, I agree with Filas. There's a lot of hanging around waiting for respawns rather than actually playing. I find myself wondering if Rocket ever checks these things by spending an hour running the game anymore. It's the only way he'll ever understand what impact these issues have on how we play and what it makes us feel about the game.

Personally i do not agree with all of your ideas, but its all personal opinions, and i respect yours, like you hopefully respect mine. I dont like the idea of NPC,s. Just the knowlage that there is people on the map that will pontentionally help you takes away from the uncertainess of DayZ. The core part of the mod is human interaction. And if you have NPC,s where you know what their actions will be, it takes away from the feeling of having to trust or interact with other human beeings. I like the ideas of adding more random loot spawns (truck crashes, beached military boat, etc.), and i like the idea of more vehicles. I also you think you should be able to harvest parts from the broken down cars you see all over the roads. Loot is not as tight focused as you make it out to be. I have between 200-300 hours of playtime in DayZ and ive been to the airfield 2 times, Stary 2, Cherno 3 and Elektro 1. Anything needed to survive can be gotten in any supermarket and a deerstand. Anyone who goes to the airfield, Stary or Cherno/Elektro properly deserves to get shot :P

I mostly play on private hives, including some of the whitelisted ones that I won't name, but Im sure you know the ones I am takling about. Even in the whitelisted ones, there are players clearly using navigator/ESP hacks and teleporting. These are the two main threats to tents. Ive had a few times where I have walked away from a full tent and returned 30 minutes later after one loot run and found the tent empty. And yet another person completely misses the point. This isn't about me. Its an experience everyone has. There is no point in working towards this stuff because its just going to be stolen/destroyed when you cannot protect it. There are reasons why there are so many bandits in this game. This is a major reason for it. People could occupy their time by completing these tasks like repairing vehicles, but theres no point. The current setup of tents and vehicles where you have to be online 24/7 to protect them just isn't going to cut it in standalone. I apologize, but Im going to say the W word. WarZ is implementing a system called "stronghold" where you can store stuff whilst your offline. It can be set to private or public. If its private players can only get access to this area if invited. If its public, anyone can access it. I really am hoping that this underground system that Rocket is talking about in DayZ will be the same. With more content that isn't griefed overnight players won't be so aggressive and KOS so often. Because there will be more worthwhile things to do than kill other players. -
don't care about npcs but i like the more vehicles idea and i feel the same..when playing solo once i'm geared i don't know what to do..i have simple needs..an assault rifle makes me happy and i use fearlessly flares and chemlights in the night...navigation is one of my favourite things and i like making sniping ranges with the map too..so i don't need nvgs, rangefinder or gps. i don't need an as50. i wonder around in barns and corner shops aiming to find a tent or a czz and that's all.

Frop replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We've had a fair amount of tents and vehicles which went unnoticed for weeks at a time, despite having 10-20 players on during peak hours. Apart from a bunch of teleporting hackers last weekend I don't think anything was found illegitimately. Actually most of our compromised tents were at the borders of the map, any tents in the middle of the map remained hidden far longer (in fact this was the case on more than one server). -

sostronk replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't really care. Its limiting the gameplay. I want to branch out into things other than raping scrubs in this game. Turns out theres no point. Its easier to keeping my shit up by griefing others than it is to play nicely. I really don't see how people aren't seeing this. And really please stop giving me tips on how to hide tents. For real, Ive fucking placed them all over the map and lost them everywhere on the map. I didn't start playing this game yesterday. If Rocket doesn't implement a system in standalone where you don't have to be online 24 hours a day 7 days a week, all this game will ever be is bandits killing survivors. And yeah I went on a killing spree this afternoon. Had more fun doing that. Almost died once to a ghoster who logged after I killed his mate and then relogged while I was looting his mates body. One more hit and I was gone but I got that bitch and enjoyed it more than the 20 hours of loot farming to repair up vehicles on the weekend. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

Quite some nice ideas there RyanK. I agree with most of your ideas, and yes, you should definitely be able to change weapons while moving. AND YES YES YES, Passengers should be able to shoot in vehicles. Also, I'd like to add, that you are not allowed to take stuff out of someone if they are already using it - e.g. gun. Also, another thing I like to add is detection, if you try to open another player's bag it may send a warning to the other player, (sort of like thievery in skyrim) so the more you do this the better you get, but this is how I think it should be somewhere about - 35% detection for new players stealing other new players items. Veteran players will have a heightened sense, and will increase the detection warning making it harder to steal from, and players who do this a lot have a less chance of being detected, but please note: Stealing from friends will only work once - as in, you can only get better from stealing from the same person once, AND ONLY ONCE - until they are killed that is. And with the birds, I've said this already, you should be able to shoot birds as well as loot them for meat, and your pet dog can be a retriever for you. Also I totally agree with the fact that snipers need to take in wind magnitude direction, bullet drop as well as the Coriolis effect http://www.youtube.c...?v=9P9XKbYa--g. Well, maybe not the last one (since that is a bit complicated) The only thing I disagree with, is the flame arrows really, I think its because of the consequences it has. 1. Its a bit rpg like which is not what dayz is about 2. what happens if you miss? You set the trees and house on fire 3. what happens if you hit? The person/zombie gets set ablaze (gives your position away) so it might not be worth putting fire on arrows. And to add an idea on with the arrows, there should be shoddy arrows which you can craft from wood cut with a wood-chopping axe, sharp tip, and you should be able to add arrowhead tips if your skilled enough. Theres also several types of bows: Hunting, Shoddy crafted one, Marksman - used in sport. But yeah, many good suggestions, some which have already been suggested, and the only I really disagree with is the flaming arrows. -
Looking for SVD - doesn't need mags. Also up for other trades.

Yeah unfortunately I lost all the gear I traded you for due to my tractor exploding because of dayz beautiful bugs of vehicles getting stuck in objects and exploding :L just wasn't a good day for me yesterday -

honestly all you idiots saying hide your stuff better have no clue just how rampent that Navigator hack is and how inept the anti cheat is at detecting it. We recently did a test, we took 10 tents, put them up in the middle of no where literally right at the edge of the map right in one of the corners, we also moved 4 cars there, tents and cars were all empty we left the engines running, we sat for a few hours, you would not beleive the number of people who literally logged in, or spawned and then ran in a direct line right all the camp and all its vehicles, and not one of them got detected by battle eye or anti cheat gotcha thing. its staggering the number of people you play with every day and simply have no idea just how many of them are actually cheating. SO NO!.. Until that shit gets fixed, or detected you can say to him, hide your stuff better, what you could suggest is that he hide his stuff as far north as possible, the only benefit to this is that he can hope some other noob has hidden his stuff closer to the hacker, we all know their lazy bastards and will take what ever is closest, also NEVER take high value cars, flatbeds, urals, leave them alone the hackers will ALWAYs go for them. I find sticking to the littl blue van, and bikes to be best. -

Dude, if you worked so hard to get to that point, you should have hidden your vehicles and tents FAR better than it seems you did. I you did hide them REALLY REALLY well and someone else found them, then so they should go for a joy ride. I would. -
Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 200 players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved. If you're interested check out or website @ www.bsbnetwork.com and try to hop on our Teamspeak 3 server and say "hi!"

@stonecold350 - 1) The reloads are done at 1am, 8am and 4pm Brisbane time. All of which is explained in the MOTD. 2) Whatever base you raided wasn't ours. There's only two admins and we don't actually have that many vehicles. Those we do have are legit along with our gear. 3) It sounds like you didn't save the vehicles. They are only saved when manually selected from the drop-down. The same goes for tents. 4) If you tried to store them in the Debug area they will be removed periodically from the game. 5) We really don't appreciate being called cheats especially when we provide a server for you to play on for free which we pay for out of our own pockets. Have some respect.

Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
JamesButlin replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Hehe, auto cucumber. I pretty much follow what everyone else is saying, remove thermal, maybe keep a (verrry) rare anti-material rifle for taking vehicles down. -
So I was just thinking of something that would make water vehicles a little more useful, maybe if they added a hovercraft vehicle similar to the PBX size holding 2-4 people with an open top, it could also hold some gear, but not too much since the land water versatility of the vehicle is already really nice, the vehicle wouldn't be too quick and would be really hard to master turning n such, since there is so much drift on turns with hovercrafts. This would make island bases more accessible and usable, giving islands a little more use than they have right now, it would be a great vehicle to raid any of the coastal towns, and if you are really daring you could use it further inland too, but it wouldnt be as useful. making the vehicle hard to navigate with would counter act its seemingly OPness. please leave your thoughts comments and concerns :) thank you

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
RyanK (DayZ) replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
some of these may have been mentioned but heres a few i thought of: -the ability to change weapons while running. -different tent styles, not just the old tent (theres a round tent in arma already, why cant we have those too?) -ablity to take parts from one vehicle to fix another -empty mags remain in inventory, make loose ammo to refill magazines. -"take all" button for picking up loot -hats, pants, shirts, jackets, shoes, and maybe other accessories, all changeable or you can just wear underwear. will help differentiate between players and people will just be happier. different hairstyles for men and women too -ability to climb ledges or over some chain-link fences (climb trees?) and climb into and out of windows -able to post signs or just paint on side of buildings and billboards. to either warn people, trap them, or claim territory -ability to hang people, or just tie them up and drag them from a car or horse. cages for prisoners? -extend map beyond current borders (new towns? bigger mountains? a river?) -if map is extended maybe add a cesna? -passengers can shoot from vehicle -windows break when shot -can light cars, houses, and parts of the forest on fire (maybe they can reset back to normal a few days after burning) -dice and/or dartboard for downtime? people have to keep track of their own scores. dont cheat ;) -useable chairs. portable chairs and tables too? for bases or camps. on top of that, the ability to place items on a table rather than just on the floor. -ability to search pockets so you dont have to kill someone to see what they have on them. mostly used for prisoners -ability to holster sidearm, and sidearm visible in holster when equipped but not in use -different tactical gear and you have to find it before being able to use it, example: gun holsters and leg pouches. finding these allow you too carry a little more and otherwise your pistol is held in your waistband when not in use and takes a second longer to pull out. -variety of interchangeable weapon attachments (scopes, flash/sound suppressors, flashlights) -high caliber, semi auto sniper rifles less common. maybe bolt action high caliber rifles? -more civilian type choppers and repairable humvees. copilot can take control of chopper if passed off or if pilot lags out -trailers for towing or storage, campers/RVs (players can walk inside campers, if possible) -car doors open when getting in, same for trunk when transferring gear and hood when fixing engine. need car jack to change tires, maybe even to do work on motor -animations for fixing vehicles should take longer, as should eating, bandaging, setting up tents, and cooking. able to cancel animations and pick up where you left off, say u can eat half a can of beans and finish the rest later. open cans may smell and attract zombies after a while if still food left inside goes uneaten. eating this rotten food gives 25% chance of getting sick. also can start fixing a car motor and have to stop because of zombies or another player, then you can come back and finish fixing. or after the other player kills you, he can start where you left off -sniper aiming similar to ACE where you have to take wind into account as well as distance and can adjust scope depending on conditions (regular weapons also have to factor in wind conditions at long range but still effective and close to medium range) -add flare gun -add molotov cocktail and ability to make them (jerry can + empty whiskey bottles + rags + matches. 1 jerry can could fill 4 bottles, lets say) -actual birds that fly, land, and can be shot maybe they sit on telephone wire sometimes and can be found pecking at dead players bodies. flocks of birds near cities where there are lots of dead and undead -tripwire to make traps like doorway grenade traps or noisemakers and flare traps, nets or even punji traps (punji + poo = nasty infection on top of horrible pain) -bows and arrows (flame arrows too)
