    Another noob on DayZ..Me

If you have already found a compass, you can stop there and assume you have "beaten the final boss". I have gone weeks without finding one of those bastards, and was tending to play on one of those servers that doesn't have the little blue YOU ARE HERE on the map. I avoid those now anyhow because I like to set waypoints. But since we're here to give 'tips', I will say: check the , and . keys (comma and period). Get on DIRECT CHANNEL, so you can have a possible chance of speaking with someone in the game if you were to come across one. Then hit the / to open the chat line. I will add you on Steam. Look for the eGO tag in front of my name in Steam notifications and you will know it's me. I have some stuff, and am BORED AS HELL since my favorite servers refuse to restart, so I can't use my vehicles or tents. So... whatever you need, it's yours.
  2. i have a similar problem ever since a scripter teleported all the vehicles into the ocean. Server only has ATV's, 2 Buses, 2 tractors and bikes, what can i do to fix this? (my player base needs some vehicle diversity :D)

What if the 50 cals were taken out of DayZ?

The reason why people don't always move inland is simply because it's just as high a threat of being sniped at with those lovely .50 cals, but with less places to hide from it. It's almost all farmland up there, and if you dare venture on the areas both east and west of NW airfield, you're bound to be sniper food. Then again, that goes for pretty much any sniper.. it's just that the .50 cals leave little to no chance of survival. I'm one of those who wouldn't want to see it out of the game, just altered. It should be a role based sniper in my opinion. You should feel that shooting players with it is a terrible waste of ammo and instead save it for vehicles and/or bigger groups of hostile players. But to give my opinion on the topic itself, I wouldn't cry if they were taken out. My playstyle is not to sit around and blast players in Elektro or Cherno with a fucking cannon.

How to spawn in vehicles as Admin?

do you mean how to increase the spawn rate of vehicles?

    Need friends or group

hey man come check us out at www.pc-gamers.net and you'll find plenty to group up with for exactly what you're looking for. we are transitioning our servers off the main hive to private hives for both lingor and chernarus in a clean, competitive, hack-free community! we've added more vehicles/choppers to the servers as well.

What if the 50 cals were taken out of DayZ?

Some people are more skilled than others when it comes to the art of sniping, but .50cals are essential for any group, taking out large targets ie trucks or choppers at a range so your squad doesn't become endangered. I'll stand by my argument that if there is vehicles, then there has to be .50cal
  7. Yea. You are right. He probably isn't working on it seeing as...it was stated 2.6% of players have NVG....meaning .6% have that rocket launcher. I'd imagine they are going to fix the bugs that affect the larger group of players before something like that. I agree you should be able to load a belt into the heli's guns. Again, you've got one maybe two heli's a server, most are not in working order, or being horded and not used often. And as far as the rocket launcher is concerned...you are much better off finding an AS 50 with NATO rounds for vehicles.

How to spawn in vehicles as Admin?

To my knowledge its against server policy for server owners / admins to spawn vehicles with the use of a script in hive controlled servers. In saying this I am not knowledgeable with private hive servers.
  9. are you pointing it at vehicles, being it heatseaking and all? and as for the M240 ammo? my MK48 loves chewing through the stuff!
  10. Hello everyone Im an admin on my friends server but we was wondering how do i spawn in a vehicle or two. what are the commands/scripts?
  11. From Elektro to the NW Airfield, no distance is too far for us! were you brutally murdered? or simply ran out of bandages and bled to death? Well we can offer you safe passage back to your location or to a new one! the only price we ask is rights to any loot found on the way. This includes vehicles, heli crashes, and dead players. However, we may typically turn down high yield loot oppurtunities if we feel you need it more than us. send us a PM if you're interested! (medical rescue service may be entailed)
  12. I love how people are complaining aout the 50 cals. They were once rare until duping and scripters came around. Hell I have a tws on me right now. I really wouldn't want to see 50 cals being removed. They're in the game for vehicles and most people like to use them on players which is fine by me. Now for the people complaining about it being OP.. It's a 50 cal what do you expect. Oh my god I died and he shot me in the foot wtf. Have you ever seen the power of a 50 cal on a human body? Blood and gore everywhere. The only thing I see as a temporary fix is doing a database wipe. That way we can all have a reason to go to the north again.

    man duck this ship

    - wasnt fun. it is what you make of it. - 90% of the time was running. Learn to find vehicles so that running isnt an option. - loot did not always appear in barns and other buildings. Loot doesnt appear in barns/buildings unless someone was in that area previous for it to spawn. if loot isnt in a barn run 100M away from the barn and it will spawn. - zombies end up running faster than you and hit you from 10 meters away. Zombies are much slower then survivors. I can crouch run away from zombies and not get it. Also getting hit 10 metres away? I would say this is caused by lag - you bleed, gotta bandage but the zombies run in zigzag and are hard to shoot due to 10-15 fps. best way to lose zombies is by going through houses with a back entrance or by exploiting pine trees. - stiff controls. Customize your controls. When I first started I had the hardest time getting past the controls,. after playing it for three months the controls are the least of my problems with this game. - stiff movements. ASk mom and dad to by you a modern computer. Decent rigs start from 700+ - lag. Have any torrents going? Maybe its time to look into a new ISP - low ass fps that i have NEVER had i any other game. What are you running for a CPU? This is most likely related to a lower end/older computer/

Lots of beans to you, and welcome to dayz. Sounds like you've had a successful start to the game. Dayzwiki is very good for essential information, and I recommend using it for information on weapons, vehicles, well just everything.
  15. I am pretty sure most people on this thread only want makarovs and double barrel shotguns. What type of game community makes non stop calls for removing everything in the game and not adding anything? That is right the anti game community that thinks everything under the sun is cheap. Even though I am not a fan of the .50 cals I could care less if they stay or go, these threads are getting a tad old though. Lets remove vehicles, lets remove third person, remove blood bags, remove morphine, etc, what would be left with if we listened to everyones opinion on what should be removed in the game, that is right makarovs and double barrel shotguns, end game status would be a sweet crossbow.

    Looking for :

I am looking for a new server to call home and i've been reading over servers that have these short lists of rules but give no information about their server so here's what i'm gonna do. I will give you a list there Mr. Admin and if my list sounds like something your server can offer me then let me know here. 1. Adult Admins : Mature in other words, don't show favoritism to one group or another and give everyone a good server to play on. 2. Admins don't cheat : Don't spawn equipment for yourself because you feel you are obligated to it because it's your server. Don't lay claim to vehicles and heli's, you play here so play fair. 3. Maybe a few weapons that aren't original: I can overlook this one simply because I know it's hard to get into a server but please at least consider putting in some low grade weapons in the future. (AK-74 with grenade launcher, the Russian version of the NATO weapon). 4. No 24 hour day cycle : This is the most important one I require. Don't come here and tell me to join your server if your server is constantly day. I want a changing day/night cycle that allows me to play different depending on the time of day. Also don't shorten the night simply so you can play in the day time. 5. Server is up 24 hours a day unless down for maintenance: Don't drop the server because you went to school and are scared people will raid your camp. That's admin abuse, play fair, you don't guard my camp when i'm not online, so stop playing the server in your favor. 6. Admin dies, bans player: If you can't take dieing, then don't bother asking me to join your server. If I kill you, fucking die, don't rollback the server to get your gear back. Don't ban me because you walked into an ambush, just die and accept the loss. Everyone else does, why shouldn't you? 7. Active admins: Either set up restarts or do it yourself. Be active! Fix the server if shits broken! Ban hackers! 8. Side chat is text only: There is nothing more annoying then some kid screaming at you in side chat about how you stole his coyote backpack off his lifeless twitching corpse at the NW airfield because he was checking hangers with a flare in his hand. Leave that shit off, text is fine to find hackers but voice? Why would you need that? To make groups? What the hell is this World of Warcraft? They invented Skype, Mumble and Teamspeak for a reason. 9. 3rd Person : On, CH : Off / On (either) Waypoints : On, Player dots on a map: Off 10. US based or at least I get decent ping for your server from the US. That's it, if your server fits this, then yeah i'll happily join up. I made a long list because I am sick of jumping servers over stupid shit like side chat voice being on for whatever the fuck reason then hearing stupid people whine about things like their camp being raided. I don't like hearing myself, hell I don't wanna hear half of you people much less myself.

    Cars still disappearing?

before we switched our server from Cherno to Lingor we used to have this problem. Server would do its scheduled restart and all vehicles and tents wouldnt be where they were left. After another restart the vehicles/tents would appear back in the spot they were left. We found the easiest way for us to ensure that both returned after a restart was to schedule a second restart after the first one. That way tents and vehicles would reappear and our player base wouldnt have to wait for an admin to come on and notice that all was missing. after switching our server over to to a private hive and being able to use modified files that were prohibited by the Dayz server enforcement douches we havent had this problem at all. I'd suggest ditching the main hive and playing on a more stable/better supported second party hive.
  18. Only thing the AS50 is truly any use for in game is to stop vehicles or for ensuring a kill at 700m+ but very few people use it for those purposes because ammo for it is way to easy to come by with the current state of the game, I'll stick with my L85 for night time security and CCO SD at all other times.
  19. I would love to see them be more rare.. right now it appears SVD camos are more rare than 50 cals. Found a heli crash site last night with 2 as50s and an L85. Pretty neat stuff, not the first time I've got double 50 cals either. Also another thing I notice with the AS50 is it just has a strange bullet hit box.. I can shoot away from a person and still hit them even though I see the impact hit the ground. I don't know if its lag, but it just seems so easy! Especially with vehicles, all I have to do is shoot towards the vehicle and someone will drop out dead.

What if the 50 cals were taken out of DayZ?

I keep saying everytime i see one of these threads, There are vehicles in DayZ therefor a need for .50cal Anti-Material Rifle. Just not so many.
  21. I know that in one way or another this has been discussed in varying degrees. This is suggested more for the standalone project likely as I don't know if it would be possible in the mod. But I know Rocket is trying to figure out a way to build underground shelters and the like for players. What I was thinking was a way of securing area's so that the Zeds stop respawing or pushing the respawn outside of that stronghold. Something that ties in with the idea of the wirefencing and sandbagging idea that allows for a player to attempt to horde more goodies. This could be dependent on more tasks that become available in the game of course, The more things we can do as solo or clan players, the more things we'll need to find to survive and achieve. I get that this game is about Survival, but after a certain level of surviving and attaining rare weapons and gear, a player wants to start limiting the risks and think about striving. In my case I've found the M107 sniper rifle with enough ammo to keep me busy, but my options are limited now as to what I can do in game that serve my own interests, so now I've turned to hunting players as I have all the tools that allow me to carebear in the wilderness. I play with a very limited number of other trusted players and we do what other clans do, try to find rarer stuff, but when solo, I've run out of things to achieve and shoot other players trying to get ahead just for shits and giggles. Not cool I know. So, my idea is to provide ways to secure campsites, houses, towns even. As part of the terrain when coming into a town players see roads that have been fortified with junk. What about making the "junk" a tool in the game, (like the tank traps). Pile enough junk around an area and it becomes a safe zone. Zombies spawns will be pushed out of those secured areas. Add Nails and hammers, saws, welding equipment to the game as tools used to reinforce houses and buildings or campsites in the wilderness. I was even imagining a way to build a sort of surveillance system in the game, like a CCT surveillance with a gas genie that needs constant refueling. These can be deployed and somehow tie it to a smart phone app that lets you know when your base is being infiltrated by other players. This way your loot stays available in game to other players but ads to the paranoia of gamers offline. Not sure if that can even be done these days as I'm not a programmer, But maybe this app could provide a countermeasure that deploys a trap that can only be activated once until you reload it in game. A large clan could easily secure a small town depending on the amount of junk scavenged from across the wasteland. Turning scrap vehicles into steel sheathing requires a welding torch and a vehicle to carry it. A gate can be built that can only be opened from the inside. Add ladders to the game to climb the walls or use your hatchet with nails and hammer to build a ladder. Various simple and complex countermeasures can be deployed from say; "empty tin cans and string" to "beartraps tied to shotguns" to "m240's tied in with closed circuit TV run on a gas generator" each allowing a player with a smart phone to know if their stronghold is being compromised whether in game or not. Anyway. Just brainstorming. I love the game and the concept of the minecraft model, develop as you go. I look forward to the possiblilty of being able to do some of these things in game. Best, Sled.

    Cars still disappearing?

I've had cars disappear on me, only to be in the last place I left it. I've also had vehicles that would have zero fuel after a restart (even though the tank was full before)
  23. Here's some ideas that I've had over the month or so I've been playing DayZ: Bodies – when I come across a body I want to be able to study the body and find out exactly how that person died. “There are small gunshot wounds in his torso”, “He appears to have been hit in the head by some sort of large caliber rifle”, “blunt force trauma”, “he appears to have been shredded and partially eaten (in the case of zombies)”, “there are no external causes of death visible”, etc. I’d also like to know how long the body has been dead with something like “the body is still warm/cold/etc.” These things will give the perceptive and patient player an edge helping to know which towns to avoid, if there are snipers in the area, etc. All of these things could possibly be done visually as well – perhaps showing the wounds depending on how the person was killed, perhaps a pool of blood that slowly dries/evaporates as time goes on so you can see if the person just died recently and stuff like that. I also think the same could apply to fires – you could see if they were still warm or doused by checking on them, etc. Trash – When you use a bandage, blood bag, drop an empty magazine, etc. I’d like to see the remains of these items remain persistently on the ground – at least for a time. They could be picked up and/or moved by players but if not could leave a “trail of events” for the next experienced survivor that comes by. For example you walk in to a town, and upon exploring a barn you see an expended magazine, several dead zombies that died of gunshot wounds, and an empty blood bag outside on the ground – you now know that there was recently a cooperating group in the area with at least one military grade weapon. Had they been more careful in hiding their tracks they may have forever been unnoticed. This would add a huge element of excitement for the surveil and survive style of player - the careless would leave a trail. Sniping – in my opinion sniping needs to be re-worked simply because it’s so damn effective. First thing to change needs to be grass and underbrush disappearing after 100 meters or so which makes it virtually impossible not to be spotted (this would also help with tents being more easily hidable). After that, extremely long range guns such as the AS 50 should not be able to be fired farther than a few hundred meters unless prone on the ground, and certainly not from standing. I think that the AS 50 in particular should have to be set down on the ground and then utilized as an emplaced weapon to make longer range shots, so that the player can’t just switch to “run and gun” mode the second he sees somebody closely attacking him. He should have to rely on other players helping him for closer range support, or a backup gun. Anybody who’s ever held a .50 caliber rifle knows that the gun would be completely ineffective from a standing position. Birds – I’d like to see smaller birds take off in startled flight and and/or animals run when loud shots are suddenly fired. If you’re in a city and you hear a sniper shot you can look to the treeline and try to see if there are any startled birds flying in to the sky to get a fix on roughly which direction the guy is in, etc. Vehicle Repair – In a real life situation you can “reserve” your vehicle for you just by taking out the spark plugs. I’d like to see something similar in Dayz since vehicles remain when you get off the server and are a lot harder to hide. Maybe not spark plugs but I’d like to see players at least able to take off a wheel or two and hide it in a remote tent (the same way you put on a wheel) before they log off so that somebody who finds your vehicle hideout at least has to work a little bit for it. Rare encounters – possibility of roving military patrols that will go from one area of a map to another with orders to “clear the quarantine area” meaning KOS. It would take a coordinated ambush and a lot of risk to take them down but would be well worth it in gear/ammo if you could do it. They could travel at walking speed through the map on roads maybe with a truck or two driving slowly so that once spotted you could have time to run ahead/set up an ambush with some fellow survivors if you knew which way they were going. Plants/Gardens – ability to plant plants that would persist on the server and grow and provide food after a few days that you could plant in a forest or field depending on the seed. Would make more fun things to do “at the camp”. Hunting – add deer/elk/bears. They will get spooked and run if you don’t kill them with one shot or get too close (no more hunting with a Makarov or hatchet). Make hunting things other than livestock (which are near towns and thus a little bit dangerous to hunt) a little more challenging and require use of a larger caliber bullet and risk of noise. Burying bodies/loot/trash – should take longer and the ground be slightly changed afterwards so a curious player could dig up the grave and see what’s there. If players want to bury bodies (or loot) they should have to drag or bring it to an obscure spot if they want to ensure nobody finds it. Character classes – mind you, not your typical “engineer, support, recon” or any of that. Choose between a few character types with slight differences and maybe give one additional starting item depending on which you chose – here’s a few ideas: Soldier: Maybe start with an M9 or camo clothing. Slightly faster runner and more physically in shape so he can have slightly more health and a better chance to survive short falls. (more likely to spawn at airstrip or military blockade?) Civilian townsman – Start with toolbox or local map. (More likely to spawn in small town?) Good at gardening to get more produce than average (see above plants entry), cars take slightly less damage while he is driving them due to being “used to driving in the area”. Local Hunter: Could start with a hatchet/hunting knife. Ability to get more meat from animals, better ability to creep silently and an run faster up/down hills due to hiking boots. (More likely to spawn in wilderness or outside of a town?) Businessman/medical professional – Could start with a few extra medical supplies. Could make a splint using harvested wood (acts as morphene), and revive unconscious players by using CPR (acts as epi pen). (More likely to spawn in big city near hospital or near military hospital area) Survivalist/Alex Jones fan – Could start with a compass and/or personal map indicating a stash of “preperedness gear” somewhere on the map that would have some supplies and possibly a rile and some ammo if he found it. Slightly better at shooting assault rifles and pistols accurately due to preperedness practice. Maybe able to assemble a tent/firearm with other items due to survivalist knowledge (Likely to spawn in towns, cities, or outskirts of town).-
  24. I’m still somewhat of a new player and have only been playing for a month or so, but I’ve realize that Dayz is the kind of game I have been looking for for a long, long time. Finally a game that lets me CHOOSE what to do instead of telling my what to do and forcing me to grind for points, levels, etc. I have come up with a number of ideas as I’ve been playing with my friends to improve the immersion and “adventure” feel of the game. I’ll list them here: Bodies – when I come across a body I want to be able to study the body and find out exactly how that person died. He should have to rely on other players helping him for closer range support, or a backup gun. Anybody who’s ever held a .50 caliber rifle knows that the gun would be completely ineffective from a standing position. This should relegate the .50 caliber sniper rifle to a true "special purpose" rifle rather than a "yay time to go snipe noobz" gun. (Likely to spawn in towns, cities, or outskirts of town) I’m sure there’s plenty of other ideas that could be explored along those lines. The point would not to make any of these “defined roles” meaning that you are forced to play a certain way, but give each one ever so slight differences or abilities that could encourage a little bit of teamwork. This is a few of my ideas for now, I’ll add more as I come up with them or remember them.
