So did I. The mod lives on with the faithful. As far as the creator goes, he's not worthy of it any more. I wish he'd leave the standalone now instead of at the end of the year. I honestly think he's just dead PR weight at this point.

Sure would make more sense to call them fire rings. I have a fireplace in my living room. I don't build one in the forest.

Things will come when they come. What I take umbrage with is the usage of the word "fireplace" for camp fire rings. It's weird. -

New 1:1 Mouse Controls are not good for the game

This is a good one. So they've finally just said "fuck it" and done something that makes it more of a game and less of a sim. A step away from "authentic feeling" (I hesitate to say "realism"). To me, I understand the idea. Gamers expect this kind of thing. Instantly being able to alter their perspective to react to perceived threats. I would say, however, that this really was a mistake. When will the animations for eating, backpacks, switching weapons and so forth be taken out? Slippery slope to exactly what a lot of the crustier corners of the community are afraid of.. The "COD"ing of Dayz. It's kind of interesting actually. Larger game companies have to bend with the wind all the time or their games could wither. "Dumbing down" games is a constant bitching post for the "hardcore" in any community. It's also how you sell to more people and support your business. So, this is an interesting turn of events. I assumed that there would be some kind of adjustability put in, but this is rather surprising. It's hard not to think slippery slope while at the same time liking the fact that the dev team are recognizing that- despite all of the outlandish claims of the community- oh yeah- they're making a game, not something even remotely realistic. Just something with certain hallmarks of authenticity that are appreciated to varying degrees by the player base. I don't remember this discussion ever coming up in the mod, but maybe my memory is poor here. -
Welcome to the internet. Yes, the game runs only in the 32 bit space. I usually recommend more RAM if you can afford it. You may see some increase as things built to actually run in 64 bit MIGHT start using addresses above the 32 bit range and free up some RAM for DayZ. From the feedback I see from other technically minded users, though, I would not count on it. I wonder if they've considered optimizing for 64 bit multicores? That just might be a good idea...

Crawl. If you make it great. Otherwise, respawn and kick ass. -
Jump in, run like crazy, try to dodge and keep buildings between you and them. It will be exhilarating or you will get to start over. Either way, revel in the experience and keep going.

Shrug. I don't see any reason to play something inferior. I may stay with dayz or I may move on. This is the danger for bonhemia if there is real competition. I think there will be. Isn't the sony game going to early access which for them is the equivalent of beta soon? Or would that be the equivalent of alpha. My feeling is that the forgelight engine is basically going to beat the arma engine hands down.

Ok I can't help. I will let other people make suggestions.
