    Sadly since at least 0.59 no weapons can be found at heli crash sites. The M4 can be found at military locations (green containers, tents, quonset huts, etc.) and this one was found at Tisy. There was 2 of them.

    Can't wait till weapons come back in heli crash site loot tables. They said it was related to dynamic events, but I don't really understand why they couldn't just apply the same system as the police cars dynamic spawn system, as they spawn weapons without any problems, and both are dynamic events. Anyway...

    Been hunting for crash sites a lot in 0.62 and plate carriers, the pouches and pistol holster as well as SMERSH vests/backpacks seem to be missing from the lot tables.

  2. Found an FN FAL a few days ago on Stable 0.62 and as you can see, the character is wearing gloves. I've been finding gloves in garages, sheds, or any industrial spawns really. All my characters are wearing them.

    As for the VSS, haven't found any mags or ammo for it at crash sites, and usually Tisy guard towers have the weapon, but haven't seen one in 0.62

    - wind sometimes sounds to me, like it's not properly loaded or not in a high quality. Like I was watching a 240p youtube video :D

    One annoying bug is still in place. Objects are rendered in full quality really late or never. Hope this gets fixed soon.

    BONUS:

    Got the chance to drive a sedan for a while. Here are 4 Minutes of insane driving skills, inc. zombie roadkill! Vehicles are great, even after stepping out of the car, no fps drops.

     

    How come you have the debug monitor? It's been off for the past 2 patches on experimental??

  4. Brilliant Status Report!! So much to chew on!! Looking forward to 0.63, but it seems it'll be a totally different experience from what we've played all those years! (I wish there was a way to have the current version as a single player backup software, for prosperity and nostalgia... I'd play that in 10 or 15 years!)

  6. Small update : There is still bird ambient sounds, just not during the day. It was very early in the morning, sun wasn't risen yet, and there was all the usual sound effects, but during the day it gets much more quiet. 

    I logged in AUS-02 and got a lada to start making my way to Grishino and Kamensk. I think the updates were only for trees and bushes placements, as I didn't notice any changes to the layout of the buildings, roads are anything else.

    Visually it's still stunning.

  7. Wow...   o_0  I'm shocked. I knew some people were annoyed by the new sound effects, mainly the birds, but to remove them all?? That's pretty radical. Looking at the screenshot below, isn't it a beautiful day? Well, going from Rogovo to Kamensk, there was 0 bird sound effects. Just a few crickets.

    Now DayZ sounds dead, while it sounded great in the first few 0.62 experimental patches. 

    Going back to stable to enjoy the new sounds a bit more before they get lost...

    Also, as you can tell, even though it's the experimental branch, the debug monitor has been removed for now.

    Edit: P.S. I know, it's still a work in progress, but still, personally I didn't see any progress removing all the bird sound effects. Just like loot distribution, it's bound to be tweaked and changed again, at least, I hope.

  8. I really don't understand why people were so annoyed by sounds because they didn't "see" their origin. Personally, I had 0 problems with the ambiant sound effects as they were.

    It's a video game people!! I played literally hundreds of video games that had bird sound effects without having models and textures of birds directly linked to the sound effects.

    There had always been bird and insect sound effects in ArmA2, ArmA3 and DayZ stand alone, yet no one ever complained until they made an updated, more dynamic and varied version of the ambient sound effects. Since they update, I've read many times people complaining about sound effects linked to "invisible" animals or insects. 

    I hate to do this but I have to: In real life, do you go to great lengths to visually confirm to position of the dog you heard barking? The cricket you heard or the bird who sang?? Probably not, so it's not that important in a game...

    P.S.: I just came back from experimental. There's still plenty of the non-directional/positional sound effects. Like crickets, birds or the "left" owl at night. They removed some, but there's still many there. Not sure what was the purpose of the selective removal.

    Quick question. I had mentioned this on the first 0.62 thread, but no one seemed to care. 

    I really love the makeover of the map with the new foliage, trees, and behavior based on the weather, but what happened to certain towns?

    I know the dev had said that the Tulga sky slopes (chairlift and all) were going to move, but they just seem removed completely.

    And for some reason, Rogovo was downgraded and changed back to it's pre 0.61 self. Why? Is this a bug or intentional??

  10. New player controller in 0.63 comes with new animations. Tweaks will come with it too. We'll see how it goes from there.

    Right now the player character in DayZ runs way too fast, and without any impact from the weight and items he carries.

    The new stamina system will introduce various states of running, and the weight of your gear will have impact too.
     


  11. Adding a few shots for prosperity. 

    In an online game like DayZ, or any competitive multiplayer game, changing gamma or brightness shouldn't be available, to a certain extent. I remember playing an online game, similar to DayZ, with some players using other means or third party softwares to "enhance" night time and make it brighter. These were offences that lead you straight on the ban list, if caught. I wish it was similar with DayZ....  :(   

    But honestly I doubt we'll ever see a solution to gamma exploit, or 3PP-see-over-walls-and-corners exploit...

    Yes, absolutely. It was. Until they started building it on their own. Battleground followed the "battle royal" hype and moved from their mod status to a stand alone game, without any major changes. While DayZ seem to have started the "zombie survival" hype, when so many other companies tried to cash in on the DayZ hype. (WarZ (horrible), 7 Days to Die (pretty good), The Dead Linger (canceled), The Whitering (dead??), Dying Lights/Dead Island series (big titles, not much content...), Nether (canceled), Survival : Post apocalypse now (terrible), Survive the Nights (looks promising), etc.)

    DayZ stands pretty much on it's own. I tried all of these titles. I tried Battleground too. I have ArmA2 and 3. It's interesting all in all, but DayZ is the bean king on top of the hill non-the-less.

    Back on topic: Played for about 4 hours yesterday making a full ghillie. I don't really see the changes made to it. Even when painted green or mossy. Maybe just a few color tweaks, but textures looks exactly the same to me.

    Hmm, not sure if you're trolling or being honest about your experience. 

    I've been here since day 1 (Or Day Zero if you want.) and your stuttering and lags are probably do to your old corrupted config files. I have a 4 year old system, that I updated the GPU and that's it, and it runs between 60 and 80 fps without issues, with everything at very high...

    I play on 30 ping servers as well as 300 ping ones and I don't see any issues with lag and players teleporting all over the place like they used to do in 0.47 or the horrible 0.53 so I'm not sure if it's your connection or bad circumstances...

    "Player Unknown : Battlegrounds" is not even a game man... try comparing it with something similar would be better. Battle grounds (calling Player Unknown might not be ideal, as it's the creator's name.) is a mod for ArmA3 at best, nothing more... Even if 8 million people stream it on twitch and it's the most hyped thing of the hour, it's a simple mod (wannabe full game) that uses assets already out there, nothing original or complicated here.

    Now comparing it Star Citizen, ish.... It was initially built on Cry Engine 3, and then moved to Amazon Lumberyard, both engines being already done so the devs only needed to create their models, textures, and mechanics. The DayZ devs had to create their own engine almost from scratch, and then get rid of the Legacy systems left by ArmA2. 

    Star Citizen was scheduled for a 2014 release, and was pushed back even though they made the most money Kickstarter had seen. As of May 2017, they made it past $150 million.

    DayZ barely made it past $2 million, so I don't know why you would compare both titles, as it's like comparing a Lada to a Lamborghini. They both start with La, but in the end are completely different...

    The lighting was updated, but the lightning strikes are still the placeholders from ArmA2, and the thunder sounds have been removed completely for now. Saw a few big storms and lightning strikes in 0.62, but it's the old lightning...

    Just to add some details too. 2390 hours in. Still remember my first kill. It was January 10th 2014. I was at the NEAF and was looking for a vest, back then it was a military area. I heard some footsteps and saw a guy outside the window. Started talking to him, asking him his intentions, and telling him I wasn't hostile or looking for trouble. Sadly he started aiming at the door, crouched and walked slowly towards me without saying any words. Tried in vain to persuade him not to be foolish, but it was too late. Shot him in the face after the final warning... 

    As of today I probably have under 20 kills, as I'm not looking for "pvp" in DayZ. But I've met a few hundred players still. I usually look the same way, or try to, since day 1. 

    If you ever see me, just say hi!

  16. You usually just have to right click and select "turn on". You can switch channels using the same technique. You also need to change your voip selection from "Direct communication" to "radio" using "." and "," or the keys you have bound for this. You should check what keys are bound with your setup.

    I never had any issues using the walkie-talkies.

    Exactly. I think people are overthinking about the density of forests. I've been around and the forests are varied and feel much more immersive than they ever were. With the new mechanics like digging a hole and hiding a stash or with the new camo nettings we'll have no problems making "camps". 

    Let's not forget that hiding big camps in the forests will be a thing of the past when we get base building. Groups will make their camps like this.

    Personally I've always used 1 barrel, max, and maybe a few protective cases here and there, but I never wanted to make camps like groups, clans or others do...

    I tried to get a lightning strike shot yesterday without success. Small bug or missing file right now : thunder sound effects.
    Of course this is totally normal as many other sound effects are missing too. Can't wait to see the new storms with updated lighting and thunder!!

  18. This is my adventure from yesterday. Really enjoy the new ambient sounds and forests visuals. I don't seem to have any problems with the sound being too loud, for me it's just perfect. Also, I have rain sound effects, unlike many who claims rain don't make sounds anymore. I didn't encounter any crashes for my 3-4 hours play session.

    Spawned at the small summer camp north of Berezhki, all the way north and made my way west towards the new castle. Encountered 2 packs of wolves, and survived. (Should have posted before, seems like people were looking for them...) And then  started making my way south to check the changes on the west side. Made it back down to Cherno. Great time overall.

    Some shots of the said adventure. I found vehicles, didn't have problems with them. Was pretty fun. 

    The only thing that really bothers me is that the new Rogovo is gone. (Bug for sure.) Rogovo has been changed back to it's former self somehow.

    Can't, wait for new sound effects for fishing, streams and rivers (only the ocean has water flowing sound effects), camp fire sounds, etc.
