Coming in from a month break.... Don't know where to even begin

Hello guys! I heard about DayZ about 3 months ago and played it for a good 2 months. But after not having anybody to play with and seeing all the hacking activity, i got fusterated and quit for awhile. Dayz is a really fun game, so I wan't to come back. But i don't even know what server to play on.

I fired up DayZ Commander, however every server seems to either have an infinite loading time, an unstable connection, or hackers up the wazoo. Now, after searching around there isn't really much I could find. I was breifly told about "Private Hive Servers" But after some searching, I couldent even find a way to connect to one.

Now i am not sure if this is the right place to be asking this. But are there any servers out there that have:

Little to no hackers

A generally stable server

A civil community

Global chat

Vehicles

I would appreciate any help here, im pretty lost and I barely manged to get past a loading screen. Thank you!

Also, if anyone could point me in the right direction to where I could find some people to play with (Who don't mind casual players) that would also be appreciated, this is my first post on the forums so i havent spent the longest time looking into stuff. again, thank you!

*A quick edit: The last time I played I remember there being visual glitches that used to cover the whole screen when looking in a direction, has this since been fixed? Also, is there any important things added to the game that I should know about? thanks!

Having a server with no hackers all the time is simply impossible. A civil community is also hit-or-miss, along with most other variables. Most private hives have global chat, and I found US 999 to be a pretty nice server, but again, there are none in existence that can match your criteria.

Thank you for your reply, I understand this now, however I'm just looking for a server that wont teleport everyone to the same place and instantly die while looking for assualt weapons. I assume every server has some sort of hacking, but I'm just looking for something that isn't completly out of control

Actually, now that I think about it, most private hives do seem to be what you are wanting to go after. Just try out a few random ones, if you die or something, no biggie (since they each have their own separate hives). People are also generally much nicer. In one instance, I've had a guy give me and my friend a free bus and some loot he got from NWAF. With the bus, we passed by another car and instead of trying to kill each other like we would have done in the main hive, we instead traded items and talked. Afterwards, they gave us extra gas as a farewell gift. Overall much more of a community, if a small one. The only problem is that if you are using it as your main character, there isn't really any other server to go to and private servers usually have low populations. Also, what map are you looking for? Chernarus or Lingor or...?

Chenarus, the only map I know.

Can you please explan to me the difference between hive servers and normal servers? And maybe how to go about connecting to one? This is all fresh to me. I really, really appreicate the help though!

Not only is that the best way to search and find servers, but also the easiest way to change your Arma2/DayZ versions and install the new maps.

The hackers will be everywhere. There are a lot of great private hives and communities, that kinda sounds like what you are looking for. Some decent active admins keeping an eye on the players more, still a lot of crappy power tripping ones. The nukes will still happen but the private hives can roll back.

The key is not just finding a private hive but finding one with good admins that know how to use the many tools available to them. if you can do that , you'll enjoy a hack free game.
