Thinking about buying the game buuuut...

Recommended Posts

It sounds super awesome and all.

Then I keep reading these threads about how everyone hacks, it's all lame, don't even bother playing.

I don't mind loosing to people better than me... however I just won't play if I constantly "loose" to cheaters.

How can I minimize encountring these problems?

Are there good serers with good admins out there?

How do I find them?

Please advise, thanks!

The Game is a lot of fun.No doubt about that.

However,Like you said,There are A LOT of hackers. Pretty much every server.

Even on private hives. I recommend waiting 2 months for the standalone.

Wait for the stand-alone or take your chance in a private hive. Public Hives are way to packed with hackers. Therefore, if you do buy it. My server as 2 admins on everyday banning hackers. There will be a rollback installed also so hackers will be useless. lmao.

@ Pyro, ur wrong. Sorry mate but if you find a private hive server with good admins then hacking really isn't an issue any more. The key words here are "good admins"! Just finding a private hive isn't enough, it needs admins that know what they are doing, many don't. I haven't seen a hacker for weeks.

How do I find a server with good admins and minimal hacking? I won't pretend to think it will never happen but the idea is to minimize it.

While right now, i do really wannna play and i payed a meer 15 dollars for a used copy with an already banned key... I will be waiting for the standalone i suppose. Might pick up WarZ in the meantime, but definitely both to compare. DayZ's experience seems to trump WarZ tho.

Reasonable request, and, aside from starting your own server and opening it only to your friends, there isn't really much you CAN do about it atm. If it's that big of a risk on 30 bucks, then I'd say wait.

At the moment the people who are hosting the server I own are upgrading something. Message me if you like to join though.

Even when standalone releases there will still be hacks. Guarantee it. And there aren't hackers in EVERY server. Its just like playing Russian Roulette really. If you end up playing with hackers, leave and go on to the next server. That's what I do. Haven't ran into a hacker in two days.

Hi,

I made almost the same thread a couple weeks ago:

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/95594-how-bad-is-the-hacking-in-this-game/

I went all in and got the games and DLC's, and had an absolute blast. I haven't even played on private severs, just low-pop public ones and I haven't had one incident of hacking to date (knock on wood). I'm not looking for a PvP experience, rater a survivalist type experience, so I stay out of the 30-40 person servers which are more prone to be hacked (more bang for their buck so to speak).

The standalone is coming before the end of the year, and should have much more hacker protection, but as I say, they haven't been a problem for me at all. The game is really an awesome, unique experience and even after the standalone comes out, you can either stick with the free mod, or move to the standalone. That said, the Arma games themselves are a pretty cool military sim, so if that is your bag, then I suggest you pull the trigger as you'll be able to play them sans DayZ if you move on to the standalone.

Penny Sue, I've never met a hacker in game and I've been playing for about five months! I have come across a couple of people who told me they were scripter-kids, and I've been transported once but if you play on lower population servers, they tend to stay away because they can't have a big impact. Plus Battleye (the game's anti-hacker software) has really pulled up its socks and is kicking players the second they break a rule.

You still "lose" to other players, as you die when they kill you but that's part of the game. I was here yesterday saying how sad I was having been shot in the back. That's what you do, you come here and say oh boy this happened... you let off steam and then you get back in there are have some more fun. It's the best game I've ever played, and I've played hundreds. But it's a challenge as some players find it too hard.

Do a search on BLISS servers, they're good fun.
