How do you deal with the preasure of...

Recommended Posts

Being a newb, only a few days into the game but having a character with some fairly solid gear and knowing you'll die soon enough.

I managed to get enough supplies to run up to the NW air strip where I found a M4A1 CCO, a Glock with torch on the end plus plenty of ammo for both and the biggest backpack. I then backed out and down to Vybor and Pustoshka picking up bits and pieces along the way including a silenced pistol from a dead body. Lucky me for a new player but I know I'm going to die soon and I'm feeling the preasure, I'm so nervous when I log back in. Living up north I'm told is a lot safer but I'm hooked on the air field loot and I know it'll be the death of me soon.

How did it feel when you had your first good/well geared character die?

Should I start looking for a tent to colect gear for when my death comes?

Get over your fear of dying. You'll die so much that you'll realize gear isn't a huge deal. You'll find gear anywhere. And tents don't really matter, they're all either too far up that they take too long to get to after dying, or too far south where people find them and they're near nothing good.

First rule of DayZ, don't get attached to your gear.

Take risks, don't be scared to die. You will have more fun. Took me so long to figure it out, use to be scared all the time.

I don't care anymore, and i have more fun in gunfights with people and being shot at while I'm running for my life.

Actually I watched a video explaining this to me too, and just took the information and put it to use.

But I would suggest getting a buddy or a nice small group, unless you are one of the lone wolfs out there, no idea how you do that. TOO BORING.

I'd would rather run into trouble with my friend, trying to bandage him or some shit, then just run around "surviving" alone.

I'm going to go the other way and say, BE SCARED, GET ATTACHED, trust me, when that feeling goes away, the game can get a bit boring.

Tents. multiple.

Several tents, several servers.

Dying was upsetting and disappointing, but It's not as bad as loosing 3 tents full of high end gear when you favorite server goes dead forever, but It does teach you to be prepared for the inevitable.

The gear you mentioned was what I call "good" - as in I'm comfortable with it, it's good enough to use effectively, and it's all easily replaced:

Alice packs - not the largest but an easy find in a grocery store

G17 - my favorite - It's essentially a hand held sniper rifle for Zeds and ammo is prevalent (G17, M9, M9SD mags)

AK47 Kobra is more accurate, but CCO takes Stanags / Stanag SD - both easily found.

Play smart and don't be so sure you're going to die - I'm on Day 22. My best run yet. B)

Embrace the fear, let the pressure mold you. Don't let life become cheap, not other's and especially not your own.

As long as you aren't to scared to log in you are doing just fine.

I've bordered on that at times lol.

But seriously, don't forsake what makes this game difference from the rest, it's why we're all here.

My best geared character had everything, nvg's you name it all I lacked was a decent gun, I accidentally ran into two douchebag snipers on the hilltop of elektro, they instructed me at gunpoint to "get the f*ck away" from them (SCORE) but then I went looking for a gun to kill them for their gear (one guy had a silenced rifle with a scope and torch) I found a CZ sniper rifle in a barn and I went on my hunt, little did I know they moved along the side of the hill towards me while I was gone and they shot me while I was sprinting. Oh well. Why is the most difficult thing for me to find is a map?? /:

Just loot one of the supermarkets in Elektro/Cherno/Zelenegorsk/Stary or Berezino.
