Character Not Saving

No matter what I do my character doesn't save. Every time I connect to a server it tells me to select a gender even though it is supposed to be permanently locked to my CD key. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You are probably joining private servers/hives. Tick the hide unofficial box in DayZCommander if you only want to play on the public hive and have your character persist between servers.
