Question about admins?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if admins can see you in their server? Can they track you as you move around? Or where you place tents?

On public hive, hosted servers, you can see things like saving a tent, throwing grenades, anything you put in the system to track, you can see. And it gives coordinates, but it's not like the coordinates on the GPS. It's like this:

07.10.2012 14:14:07: NAME GUID STUFF - #0 "GrenadeHandTimedWest" 7:376 7:11 [7016,7687,295] [0,18,2]

They can't track your every move just off the logs and such, though there has been an rcon made with a map system to be able to do just that, with the intent of watching teleporters. Privately owned public servers, or public hive servers that have full access to everything, can install programs that could track you, but I personally don't know any. There's been quite a bit of debate about how much SHOULD admins have power to do, and it always comes back to having to trust your admins. You're always going to find bad people who use hosting the server to their own advantage, but there's a lot of server owners who are owners because they are sick and tired of hackers and try to have all the tools that they can to monitor their server.

So long story short, most public hives cannot track your every move. And find a server where you can trust the admins.

Yeah on a public server i find it almost impossible to keep track of everyone, just too much going on in the logs etc for me to keep up. though on a private server there are so many more options to take that allow myself or any other admin to track players and what...

Some servers use this well, some abuse it and some have no idea it exists... But do try to pick servers with good admins, good admins don't need to know where you are to run a good server.
