A Pessimist's View of the Standalone

So we have the suggestions forums with some brilliant ideas coming through but I feel somehow convinced none of them would ever end up in the standalone. He has said there would eventually be mods for the standalone so I'm guessing what we have right now and a few other titbits of what has been mentioned would end up in the standalone. Some of what has been mentioned to be in the works are:

Dogs

Zombie Pathing

Medical System

Underground bunkers

But most of all I feel what would undergo an overhaul would be the UI and the sound with minor gameplay enhancements in other words polishing the game. So apart from the features mentioned do you think the DayZ would be a massive upgrade from the existing Alpha or would it be a more polished version of the Alpha with the addition of minor gameplay mechanics while leaving the community to do the upgrades. Which gameplay mechanics/features do you reckon will end up in the standalone bearing in mind a pessimist's viewpoint.

It will probably be a VERY long time before DayZ will play well, but the standalone will probably just be better. Not sure exactly how much. I mean, Arma 2 never worked well; the vehicle combat is downright hilarious, i commonly find myself staring at vehicles for 10s after i shoot them to see them pop into dead mode. Same thing with staring at zombies

It would be at least a bit more believable if you could present facts to justify your point. It would be foolish to think there would be surprises while being in the shoes of a pessimist.

I think a dedicated DAYZ game will be a better performer. Less overhead.... more zombies.

If you read the one line thread and the q and a thread you will have some idea of what the standalone will feature. For starters a totally redone loot spawn system, chernarus+ map with a fuckton more enterable buildings and redone interiors by the bi artists, total ui overhaul, new animations etc. Do yourself a favour and check out the threads :)

I would also be very surprised if Rocket does not throw a few curve balls in ;)

...Rocket himself stated that there would be plenty more features added. The whole injury system will be redone. The diary idea by itself is fresh and new for DayZ. I don't need to go on.

If the standalone ends up being the exact same game as the mod but without the glitches, bugs and hackers it'll be worth the money.

Rocket has said that things will be added as time passes so the game will always be improving, but for the initial release surely we can do without some of the new ideas if we gat a solid stable game.

I'm not expecting miracles on the day of release, but I'm looking forward to seeing what has been improved upon from the Mod we currently enjoy. And it can only get better from there.

New content expected by January/February? These guys aren't just porting the mod to a new engine. They're working like crazy to give us the best DayZ experience they can.

I'll just be happy if the hackers are gone, anything else is just gravy.

Not looking forward to packs of dogs and stuff in the woods, but will have to work around it.
