North East Airfield

Despite it is an airfield, so with military loot, vehicle spawns (chooper, uaz) and the really close krasnostav has a deerstand, a market, high grade industrial building and a couple of barns..it seems to me not dangerous at all. i place my camp in the north and go there often to hunt a cow on the airstrip and loot the market and the control tower. i once stalked a guy and once i had a firefight against a group (they had a close camp with a hoard of vehicles and many tents) and died. all the rest of the time i felt almost like home. it's not far from berezino, where there is a good hospital and a lot of stuff. why anyone goes there? i camped the airstrip many times to see someone coming but nothing happened even it the most crowded server.

Well, there are certain things about those locations:

Stary is easy too overlook, you can see zombies if there is anyone, and if someone camps the hill, zombies are walking there, too, so you can avoid getting killed there

NEAF is VERY good to snipe, yet most people just dont care going there because Berezino tents have just as much military spawn as the f-ing airfield there

NWAF is of course dangerous because of the good loot spots and the big open fields, also many zombies, but you can see snipers easily before they see you, and the only three good sniping spots i know of have zombie indicators

Zelenogorsk? seriously? its travelled a lot by player freshly spawned at kamenka, but you can see zombie indicators on EVERY sniping spot, and its pretty hard to snipe there, too

Berezino is way more dangerous and not even on the list

i chose Stary, because there are many people that either dont have the balls to get to the NWAF, yet want military grade loot, so on a full server stary is always camped or looted at, if not both

Most of people are spawning around Cherno/Elektro, they get medical and food supplies, then they head to the NW airfield (most likely) to get some good weapons. I, personally have my camp in the north-west part of the map, and I feel like home too, as I didn't see any player there since almost two weeks.

The military loot spawns are low value and every other spawn site can be found elsewhere on the map. It is very far away from what most players view as good placed to go (personally have not been to stary in months and the only reason I go to Cherno or Elektro is when I am a new spawn trying to grab some basic loot). I love Berezino and when I am hunting for vehicles or parts that is my first stop, but it is a ghost town and if you want to PvP it is not a great location. The NEAF is a lost cause since it has almost nothing of value and is such a long trip without a vehicle. The standalone will hopefully encourage people to spread out on the map by giving places like the NEAF some decent loot, otherwise people will go off to the NWAF and stary.

I voted Stary because military loot is out in the open for a couple of hills, that large warehouse (not really sure what that building is called tbh), or can be camped in one of the buildings in the town. When people were just camping the hill north of the military tents it was easy to clear out, but the last couple of times I went there I was sniped from a far off hill, the warehouse, and my overwatch caught a guy running up from a house right after I had to drop a zombie.

i didn't put berezino in the poll because it was not inland, but knowing that it is a endgame players location i added it. polana has that supermarket but as you said here above is the general location which is dangerous...

Inland spots are nothing compared to the newbie deathmatch going on the coast. I know this, since I have been murdered on the coast only 2 times and inland about 5 times. I went in North-West Airfield once and I looted the North barracks with no sign of other players. While at Stary, I meet a bandit almost every time.

NWAF is just the second most dangerous place in DayZ. I have seen much action revolving around small towns like polana or even Msta. Really dangerous places, even if they are remote.

I travel to the NWAF all the time, I NEVER see anyone else there. There's no point when you can get better gear from heli crashes... This needs to be changed, the chopper crash loot and barracks loot should be the other way around.

But in all honesty, the NEAF has been full of action lately. People think its safer than the NWAF so they all go there instead.

In the last 1.5 months I must've bumped in to people at the NEAF at least 5-6 times and only 1 time I come out second best and that is when my UAZ full of high tier weapons got stolen

Most other good spots don't have good line of sight on the tents themselves. Perhaps the best place to snipe the tents is the rusted out building, but you are very vulnerable up there.

You are doing it wrong, if you want to die you stay on the Norther Hill, if you want to snipe people stay on the Western Hill (granted you will need a .50 cal to pull off sniping at this range).

yeah i've noticed this to by myself, the tents are difficult to watch, and you cannot disengage towards north west due to the hill behind the large field

Staroye and Dolina (toward the factory on the north side) for some reason if you ever see another person there, he's always got a few buddies in tow.

tbh I don't think there is anywhere on the map that I haven't been killed at some stage. Last night I was way up North reconnoitering a few clicks west of that huge big Dam, way out in the wilderness. Next thing I hear the report of a shot, and I instinctly drop and roll under a conifer, mind racing i'm fully expecting to be nailed thinking that someone had teleported to my position, but I rationalise it out thinking: a - the shot is infront of me (in my experience they always teleport in behind you) and, b - I didn't hear any subsonic crack of the bullet.

So i'm lying there, heart racing and another couple of shots are fired. Definately not in my direction. Now here's the kicker there is only me and this other guy on the server - lets call him "Elmer". Things go quiet for a while and I slowly start to move in the direction of the gun fire. Suddenly a few more shots ring out, really close to me & I locate him, banging away happy as larry with an M24 shooting at either bore / rabbit. I call out in game "Hey! Elmer Fud keep it down pal * & shoot him in the head. There is a moral to that story in there somewhere, oh yeah.. you are safe no where in Chernarus..

Everyone's to piss scared to go near military zones, aside from Balota. Most PvP goes on in Cherno or Elektro. But thats what I get on my private hive, I'm not sure what public is like now with the hackers and such, but I'm guessing it's similar.

You don't even need a sniper to be a marksman in there. Check out the hill behind the supermarket. A silent weapon and you are set.

I'd say the airfields are the most dangerous to go to if there are snipers lurking.

It's wide open view and perfect sniping positions make it very hard to come even close to without having to dodge .50 calibre rounds.

Stary Sobor is my favourite looting area. Much places to hide from snipers, close combat. I think it's boring to be killed by people who aren't even near you at all.

Since I usually camp out in the north east and north mid of the map, Berezino is my favourite vacation city. NOBODY goes there. Seriously.

For looting this city sucks as it is widely spread. But whenever I need supplies and I'm near there it's just a shopping trip with some zeds annoying you. It's seriously a cake walk there.

I always use a pistol or x-bow for killing animals. If a pistol, I gut and run. Anyone who thinks that the only other guy on the server is never going to see them is kidding themselves.

I used to think I was safe in Berezino too. One day I had looted both supermarkets, the hospital (which had the motorcycle up) and the military tents. I was checking the final tent when I noticed it had a double-barrel shotgun in it. This discovery did not trigger the level of alert it should have and I wandered back outside and got gunned down by an AKM.

I learned that lesson the hard way.
