Servers without death messages

Recommended Posts

When was the last time you've been on a server without death messages? probably never. I wish more servers removed death messages because this would create more tactical opportunities and suspense.

I'd rather know who killed me than know who I killed.

Revenge!

I always know I kill, as how I always bury them.

I play private hive, so I never see any death messages.

And what's the talk of dieing? Haven't died in 2 weeks!

i almost exclusively play on a private hive with no death messages and it's annoying because of the current fucked up state of the debug monitor. last guy i killed was with the DMR at night and they were hiding in a tree. pretty sure i got them with the first shot, but i couldn't see them because they backed up into it as i shot and so i put a bunch more shots in there just to be sure. then i had to turn on the debug just to see if i had gotten the kill. i'm not about to leave the debug on, just for that and not be able to see my hunger and thirst.

This is exactly why death messages and the debug monitor should both be off. Not sure if you killed someone? Tough luck either walk over and check, taking the risk that he or his buddies are still alive, or live with the doubt.

Yes walk into a login trap by someone ghosting into a better position. Good idea.

I actually like name tags and kill messages, to me it creates a community. I like knowing who I killed and I wish they know who killed them, makes for better rivalries and revenge kills, stuff like that.

I don't like how imbalanced name tags are currently and if they fixed those I'd be very happy. Anonymous killing anonymous creates no community whatsoever. Which IMO is bad thing in the long run.

I mostly go up to my dead competitor with respect, acknowledging his attempt at killing me...

...then I hide his body and take off with a few things of his.

I used to play exclusively on an Expert level server with no 3rd person, death messages, kill counts, or any other lame ass assistance. But, now the only servers with people on them are regular/vet with all the cheese.

It can be beneficial not to know sometimes. Last night I came up to a firefight in progress. I flanked around and killed 3 players who were busy looking the otherway in a firefight. Turned out one of them was the admin. They accused the other players they were fighting with for using teleport hacks and banned them. I guess they could have banned me otherwise.
