Why do most clans require 18+ players

Ill you a story. we had a 13 year old join our clan.

He proceeded to break our rules 20 times in the month we had him, most of which we didnt find out until other people mentioned him doing stuff.

From what I remember he did the following:

Got clan members killed on multiple occasions by logging out when they needed help

Killed members of our clan when their backs were turned for thrills and said it was a bandit (2 confirmed times and a couple of suspected times)

Revealed the location of our main camp to 2 of his real life friends who proceeded to take everything, save the tents, steal our verchiles and crash our helicopter into the camp itself.

On a second occasion the group of now 3 went to the camp again, destroyed our second helicopter (it was face down in the ground destroyed and wiped out most of our tents in the crash)

They lied saying they were in trouble for a free pickup in the verchile even though our other group were under fire somewhere and the 13 year old wasnt.

So we kicked them from the clan, locked and loaded and waited in ambush at our main camp. (which had been moved to another server, we just left empty saved tents there)

Lo and behold 3 hours of waiting (we saw them on the server list and knew they were coming)

I run into the open as a distraction, they look my way to fire.

BAM BAM.

2 swift AS50 shots from one of our snipers and they are down

We still accept any aged people, as the ones we have in our clan now are well behaved and mature for their age. But I can see why other clans wont let them in, the 3 we had encounters with caused us a lot of trouble and took away our focus from playing

All I'm seeing is people explaining why they don't prefer to play with younger players, and some people relating experiences as examples.

I haven't seen anything that could be construed as adults being immature, or anything that could be considered kids being immature, either.

Maturity isn't by age, but by the one that is speaking on the mic. I might pop in to add a bit of humor into the mix, but I will try to get a steady head and get the job done...

Sorry, I was referring to all the vague generalizations and stereotypes about being a "child" with no actual discussion as to why 18+ is a rule and not "mature members only" is a valid replacement to that rule.

Honestly being 18 isn't any different than 17 or even sometimes 16. It really depends on the person.

A mature 16 year old is going to be less annoying than an immature 19 year old.

You don't magically become an a mature adult at 18.

I said adults, no one in my group is younger than 25. I can still play games on the internet because I am able to pick and choose who I wish to play with. I don't have to tolerate children, because there are other groups that will. I am the one who organizes my group, so I get to decide who rolls with us or not. Children do not roll out with us. Period.

However, generally speaking most people have some life experience by the time they are 18, they also don't have squeaky voices and know to shut up when told to do so. This isn't universally true, but in my experience it is the norm.

So, really my next question is, what is the point you were trying to make with your reply?

See the problem here is there is no gauge of maturity, however experience indicates that when someone has lived 18 consecutive years they have started to gain enough life experience to have something useful to add to the conversation. I live by the old adage, "Children should be seen and not heard".

Don't play in clans, but I would express the same if I did. On the level which I encounter the pimpsqueak kids, on side chat servers or on direct, I also find them annoying. They are annoying because they come over so loud, unashamed and self-assured but you just know that, like you mention, they have absolutely no life experience to back up being that way. What are they basing their brazen behaviour and morals on? Harry Potter? Playground drama? Are they the coolest pupil in their class? Fuck. That. I couldn't imagine being trapped on TS regular with them. Only a creep adult clan leader would actively target recruit under 18s in any case

If you are mature and not a squealing kid asking questions every three seconds pm me our group accepts under 18 but we would like to try you out to see where you fit in the group before proceeding. We have had young people in group make poor decisions and rage over the mic until they are banned if you are not one of these I will give you a look like i said just pm me

I am 17 teen and don't really mind the 18+ deal. There are plenty of people who player together that don't have age requirements. I used to play in a group with members ages ranging from 14 to mid twenties. If you want a group, hop on over to the survivor HQ (or bandit campfire) and post a thread on wanting to form a group. You will have people to play with in no time.

Just stick with your age group. I'm 40+ and honestly have a hard time dealing with 20 yr olds. I have zero in common with teens and really have nothing to offer them. Just stick with your age group and you will have much more fun playing.

On a side note I wouldn't want my 13/14 yr old hanging out with older guys listening to the language etc. Most of you guys probably don't have kids so you wouldn't understand.
