Vehicle Creation System

Recommended Posts

Vehicles that have taken damage over time and maintained regularly would gradually allow oneself to recreate blueprints of said vehicles. Finding different types of vehicles and maintaining them allows you to have multiple blueprints of different vehicles. These blueprints can be used to create the very same vehicle you have owned but would take significantly more time to recreate. However you could work in the comfort of your safety zone to create these vehicles once you have gathered all the necessary parts. Having multiple blueprints provides you with the ability of creating a vehicle that wouldn't normally spawn on the map. If such a vehicle maybe stolen they cannot be repaired by anyone else apart the owner of the blueprint. What you guys think of this idea?

p.s. Vehicles should be able to tell you how many miles you have done so as to tell if the vehicle has been running for quite a while.

Wait... you mean build a vehicle from scratch? One identical to a production vehicle? Will this take 6 months of in game work? A welder? Some sort of massive press to stamp out body panels? I MIGHT be on board if you could create some sort of rudimentary vehicle with say a bicycle and a motor, or a busted motorcycle plus random parts to build a very simple car, but being able to build a deuce and a half in the woods from random junk just doesn't fit.

This would never work due engine issues/limitations

ArmAII is not made for building vehicles

Right click blueprints, script runs checksum on parts, if X=1≥1 remove 1=1 parts, spawn vehicle coordinates +2 meters.

but that would be not so realistic collect parts for few hrs rightclick *flooop* fully repaired vehicle falls from the sky

No, I agree it would be total bullshit. To make it more believable you could require a building like a shop/garage or a factory, but that starts to sound like one of those masturbatory end game fantasies you see posted to suggestions and probably would get laughed out of a "DayZ Standalone" design meeting.

It's not all that bad, perhaps you could think about it in a different way. This could form a part of base building where once players have set up camp they can then start building these vehicles inside their bases.

Providing a player / group lives that long, it could be done. The addition of tools and a working powered work shop may be harder though. Perhaps down the line of the SA this could be introduced.

Many servers are offering loads of vehicles now and I'm sure will if the SA allows mods and such there will be no need to introduce blueprints. There's many a chance in game to find a vehicle.

Rocket has already said that hes adding a vehicle crafting system into the game, no one really knows what that means tho.

It's assumed that a new car will be craftable (dune buggy style like mad max?) from a number of scrap metal, four wheels, engine, and possibly some other parts not in the game yet , like wires , steering wheel, lights, breaks, etc.

yeah I only hope that when its added, they allow the builder a way to lock it a little, possibly via a key that goes into that players tool belt, and if some one else wants to take it from him then they need to kill him, and if he logs out for a week then tough shit its not a normal spawning car its one he built if others want one badly enough they can make their own.

Lot's of talk, the standalone will be alpha so don't expect anything in the coming year with such a small team.

I'm thinking the vehicle crafting Rocket was talking about will probably be more along the lines of reinforcing vehicles with armour or whatever. Crafting a vehicle from scratch seems a little ridiculous.

Sure, I'll take one of these (Willy's MB)

Edit: While we are at it, why not everyone post what sort of vehicles they would like to see in game apart from the ones already in it.

The fucking bus from the Dawn of the Dead remake! It MUST have holes allowing for survivors to wield chainsaws through it though. That's a deal breaker.
