Convince me to buy the game.

Well, I've been wanting to play this game for some time, but have been putting it off. Wondering if I should buy the game or not.

I've had some close calls where I almost bought the game, but for some reason, I always end up not buying it.

Anyway, I have once again decided to buy a sound card instead for $30, and skip out on Arma2:CO.

So, give me reasons why this game is worth getting.

Have you ever thought to yourself, "What would I do in a zombie apocolypse?" I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet everyone has.

Well, this game gives you the closest feeling to actually enduring a zombie apocolypse. You choose your own path, as a survivor or bandit, and then shape your own "life" as a survivor to whatever suits you. You have tense situations, combat, you meet new people (I met 3 good friends over dayz that I skype with everyday, just by yelling "friendly" at them) And you can actually experience a zombie apocalypse finally. So many things can happen to you in this game, it's a game of endless possibilities. It's a game that IS whatever YOU make it, you just gotta choose to make it awesome. :)

Why would you care what anyone else thinks? Either you want to play it bad enough to buy it or you don't. Do you allow the internet to make all your game purchasing decisions or is this one a special case?

This game is what you make of it. That said, if you're looking for people to make it entertaining for you, or convince you why it would be fun, it may not be for you.

Personally, I think the game is amazing. It's essentially a sandbox with zombies, loot, other people, and seemingly infinite freedom of choice to play it how you please.

At its current state no. Mod is broken, unoficial hives a better. They somehow have it working with everything. But yeah mod is loosing players each day. Rocket is loosing fan base cause of the lack of fixes and stupid rules.

this is a prime example of a wuss that gives up very easily. you see, the easiest thing in dayz is to find a lee enfield, sneak up on an unsusprcting fellow and drop your humanity to -100000, the truly reepected players are those who, even under these harsh circumstances, manage to get their humanity all the way up to 6000 by applying medical treatments and obtain the hero skin.

I'd recommend not buying it if you are planning to play this alone.. it's a relentless game that can take, whatever you achieved in like a day, away in a split second. may that be a player shooting you, being overrun by zombies, falling to your death or a bug that decides that breaking your leg is a proper way to punish you for entering a building in a wrong way.

Playing with other people makes the game much easier to enjoy. may that be manhunting or surviving. it's a unique experience in any way due to the horrific reality that anything can kill you and there are no exceptions. so yeah in any case it takes a thick skin to withstand the merciless enviroment of DayZ. but so far for me, I did not regret buying it even though at times, I thought FUCK IT after being long range killed by some bandit. but it's something you'll have to accept, biting the bullet here literally and metophoricly

TBH, I'd wait for the standalone version now. It's almost October and it's supposed to be releasing before the end of the year.

I haven't played for a few weeks, mainly just mess around in private hive servers now when I do play cause I can't play for more than 30 minutes without being teleported in to the sky by a hacker and I don't wanna lose my gear on the main hive to bullshit.

Cannot recommend. This game is a hacker's paradise. Hackers rule and BI and Battleye are either unwilling or unable to stop it. Wait for upcoming games: WarZ, Dayz - Standalone, ZombiU.

As it stands it is not really worth it. A lot of the hype has come and gone, the remaining players suffer nightly hack/scripts.

A few months ago I would've tried to convince you, now just save that $30 and wait for the stand-alone.

When a game is released and you play it sometimes you can get bored of it pretty Quickly, You won't get bored of DayZ.

When you play a game and you feel emotions you sometimes don't feel in your real life, that's DayZ.

When you want to play in an environment that is not considered a normal playing size, with things to discover all over, that's DayZ.

When you are told by forum posters not to buy it or wait till SA yet they still post about a game they don't play that's the DayZ effect.

You will never know unless you try, and if you have been waiting to try it for a while, try it you won't regret it.

Oh and all those who say "wait for the standalone" just remember when the SA comes out there will still be a community outside of the SA, where the fun will still be happening and changing all the time.

I'm sorry but I'm sure there is a valid point under your whiney whingey attitude, Did you meet a Hacker? If you can't find a private server with admin who monitor hacking then you had better leave now. Don't bother buying the SA either, the less people like you the better.

Ah, when you cannot make a good argument with logic and facts, then resort to name calling and 'shoot the messenger'. At least you finally had the decendency, through my provocation, to amend your original statements by conceding that you must find a private server.

To the OP, here's the truth: In the public realm, the DayZ mod is a hackers' and griefers' paradise. Adolescents rule this game and BI and Battleye are impotent. My own experience? Last weekend, I was part of a server wipe, being thrown up in the air and falling to my death with everyone else online. All too common in DayZ.

Zombies are a trifling annoyance; dying to hackers and griefers is the true DayZ experience now.
