Hello--and why are some servers more loot-heavy than others?

First post, I'm so addicted to this game

Anyway after reading a bit, esp. thread about setting up a server, it seems like all servers should have equal amounts of same loot, but a couple of my favorite servers seem to be more generous--like more wildlife, makarovs, toolboxes, bicycles, just more variety--why is this? I assumed it was the admin having some control over the configuration, but the sticky on setting up your own says there are no beneficial controls to administors? Thanks

Look at the code, it is completely random, based on percentage. Of course if the server itself has lower fps loot and zombie spawns may take a tad bit longer than a server with high fps.

I guess it has something to do with traffic. Private as in password protected? I just choose by low ping on PwSix, pretty randomly. I am kinda fuzzy on a lot of the server differences, like the white dots that show zombs and animals. Maybe somebody can point me to a thread about server gameplay settings.

it depends on how fresh the restart was, how much people were playing on that server ever since restart, etc...

if you see a ron of tin cans laying around it means the server is a bit exhausted since loot piles are not reloading and since people leave the tin cans untouched, they start to pile up.

OK, I just read a little more about private hive and public servers. I need to find a good private hive server. My friend and I recently got killed within minutes of each other by some scripter f***wad in a ghillie suit and axe in godmode with a map tracker to pinpoint our locations, half a click apart, out in the sticks. How much of a douche do you have to be to play DayZ like that?

This game is a hacker's paradise. Hackers rule and BI and Battleye are either unwilling or unable to stop it. Wait for upcoming games: WarZ, Dayz - Standalone, ZombiU.

Thx. Like some servers advertise more vehicle spawns, how is that possible if you can't tweak the game server side? There just seems to be a lot of difference from server to server.

the points already touched here above are true:

1) restart time

2)fps

3)people

anyway it's amazing how many times it seems just to choose randomly the no loot option, but sometimes you climb that deer stand.. and boom! big loot!

according to some savvy it takes up to 15 min to fully spawn loot on a place, but it all depends on server performance, some shitty servers will desync when you approach a building and takes forever to spawn loot, on others you won't even notice
