Steam will let you add a non-Steam Arma2OA, and add a new key--my problem is the auto-launch. So all multiplayer WAN Arma2 and DayZ needed GameSpy to find servers? Now Steam does it? I wonder why GameSpy didn't need a local program running to work? Anyways, last post...much ado (-doo) about squat. 1st world problems, ay gents? I wanna play me some Overpoch!!! Hugs

Well then, be it known far and wide to the entire internet, all who Google these key words and end up on this thread that Steam has hijacked Arma2 and your computer(and all the other games you got through them too, probably) and gives you no choice or control and will launch itself, like all the worst spyware and adware does, when you try to launch a single independant game .exe, pulling valuable computing resources from your gaming experience, killing FPS, etc.

Thats the problem--everytime Steam starts up, it changes my CD key back to a stolen non-working one. I have no problem changing the key to my new working one, but if Steam keeps stepping in and changing it back when I launch Arma, I will never get in--Ideally I want to use Overpoch's CCG Launcher or DayzCommander.

There's got to be a way around this. Steam keeps sticking my old stolen banned CD Key in and I can't get past BE. Plus I dont want Steam taking up any memory or resources while I game. Does this help?: http://epochmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/13442-how-to-new-steam-only-arma-update/

I havent played DayZ in a while, but I used to be able to start Arma without Steam pretty easily (DayZ Commmander, Pw6, or just starting .exe directly). Now Steam hops in everytime and its annoying...what has changed in the last few months and how do I fix this?

I thought it would be pretty cool to have all the original DayZ mod new spawn clothing (ya know, the white shirt, the vest, blue pants, baseball cap) just for fun around the map to collect and wear. I'm a sentimental dude.

I figured out part of the problem was that installing Epoch by hand or through DC doesnt include the other maps. PwSix will alert you and install the extra map files you need for a given server. I should have figured that out earlier.

Now thats a thoughtful response--thank you, McCullins. F-off was a bit harsh--I have a foul mouth--but it wasn't an insult. It just seems like there would be a few Tavianas up by now, I would guess being the next most popular map. Yeah, I guess I'm complaining at this point.

Im sorry, I assumed your question/response was rhetorical and condescending from the sound of it. I didn't think you were seriously asking that question or trying to meaningfully contribute to the discussion. The answer to it is "no". Do you feel better? I'm not sure if you understood my original question or not, in that case. I'm not rejecting anything either--epoch was made for chenarus, like he said, as a new mod, but as time goes on, further releases will work with the other maps better. Do you understand what I meant? Anyhow, I'd appreciate if you didnt flame this thread anymore--thanks

So its just too new, basically, and has issues? The wiki has had all the major maps listed as working for a long time, not true? I had fun for weeks on a Takistan Epoch server, but they took it down. If anyone has a good non-Chenarus Epoch server,US west coast-ish, please let me know here. Much thanks!

Why are there so few working servers with other maps, like Taviana or Takistan? For me, Chernarus is just so played out and boring. I get connection errors with the few that do exist. thx

So at first I thought it was night coming on quickly, but it only darkens when I run and I eventually stumble to prone(with NVs on). If I sit still everything brightens up to daytime again. I thought it had to do with hunger/thirst/infection but everything is in the green. What is this? Encumberance/weight? I have no idea what this indicates. Thx
