Does Rocket know?

I am just wondering if Rocket knows what the game play of Day-Z is really like for us common folk or if he lives in a bit of an ivory tower when it comes to his Day-Z experience? Is his perception of what happens in game realistic?

The reason I ask is because I have been playing Day-Z for about three months now and have noticed that vehicles are not only impossible to get but are basically unused, it is like they don't really even exist. In three months of play I have only ever seen two other players using a vehicle, one was two guys in a truck helping new players on the coast and the other was an old hatchback that I seen driving near Dolina. Three long months during which time I have interacted with thousands of players but have only ever seen two other players using vehicles.

So I guess my suggestions is this, can we have something done about vehicles? because as far as the game play for a common person goes vehicles may as well not even exist (meaning they have almost no effect on game play in the current state of the game), it can't believe that if Rocket knew the extent of the problem he wouldn't do something about it.

That's the thing though, they aren't that rare and I'm not saying there needs to be more. What I'm saying is the few that are there aren't used by players, I can't believe that's what was intended for vehicles in this game.

ORLY? There be over 9000 cars on the street, in case of ZA, cuz almost all people became zombie or zombie's breakfast. I'm saw it in Resident Evil movie.

Isn't DayZ supposed to be 5 years after the zombie outbreak anyway?

I would guess any people trying to flee the initial wave would be in cars and stuff, I assume they didn't leave much in the way of vehicles in Chernarus?

I think the vehicle spawns should be randomized more, not set spawn points, but a chance of a vehicle just sitting anywhere in a field/on a road/in a garage would feel more natural (as natural as zombie apocalypse gets)

As for players not using them. For me personally, every single time I have fixed a car/quad/van I got hunted by invincible, teleporting hackers. There are a lot of aspects of DayZ unable to reach their full potential in Mod form, whether due to lack of features (bases, cooperation and trade between players) or the open, hackable nature of ArmA 2. Just have to wait and see how it plays out.

I'm looking forward to the future with this one. I think trying to deliver a big truck full of medical gear to an encampment or trading post is where the Bandit/Hero thing will fully kick into gear too. (think Mad Max 2 "Just walk away and we will spare your lives... Just walk away" lol )

Have you tried playing on other maps, they put vehicles to good use. Yes they can be spawned in certain places but finding them is half the fun IMO.

I'm sure Rocket knows the state of his Mod, or he wouldn't be trying to improve it for us. there are enough threads about what his plans are and loads of Q & A's on what he wants to do about it.

That's mostly because people hoard vehicles, especially clans. They just hoard them and don't even use them, hide them away in their camps or off the map.

I've seen tons of vehicles. I can't repair any though. For some reason. (these are the repairable ones I'm talking about, and yes I have toolbox though you don't need it in 1.7.2.6 as of now)

I've been run over by several. Almost got landed on by a helicopter, too.

It honestly depends on what server you play on. Some of the more active ones you'll see people driving around in Cherno, with big signs going 'Hey, snipers, shoot our engine blocks out.'

I've found a few myself. All needing repair, but I'm not much into cars on the game anyway.

Once they lock down the edges of the map, vehicles will be impossible to hoard and gamers will get a serious reality check. But for now the map is 25 by 25 kilometers with 15 by 15 kilometers covered by actual 3D models.

I find lots of vehicles but it's not every day that i see them being used by other people, to be honest with you one of my favourite things to do is work out the route that a vehicle is going to be taking maybe set some tank traps on the road and then ambush it. Great fun, believe me.
