How are servers going to operate in standalone?

Recommended Posts

I seriously hope its not renting like the current system. So many admins exploit the game way too much.

A: The server hosting process will be much more streamlined. We will probably define a few (2 or 3) agreed difficulty types and/or DayZ Modes. The servers will then cleary has these for filtering. This makes it much easier and removes the need for policing the servers.

Rocket said recently that they may offer some hosted servers initially, but other than that it is going to be a few variations on the ruleset with hosting provide by the community.

Thanks for the info. Even though it disappoints me :( Really hard to play on a server for long before it becomes apparent that the admins are abusing there powers. Although come to think of it, I was considering hosting a server myself. Maybe I can abuse my powers then.

So why is it ok to offload a % of the cost of making and running a multiplayer game onto the customer?

I'm not a massive gamer, but I have never played a game whereby the customer base has to pay the cost of running the game, seems absolutely ridiculous to me! Machiavellian even. Why don't all game makers do this and save themselves the cost?

Makes me wanna say 'facking cheap money grabbing bastids!'

Also I bet that 80% of admins have most of the vehicles.

Pretty much. You destroy them, they roll back. No way around it. Too many powers. I shouldn't complain though. Can't wait to pay for an unfair advantage in the stand alone.

Yep there are a lot of admins that abuse their powers, I've seen a GSP that allows the admin to spectate on players, now that's admin abuse.

Come on not this again...you clearly play on the wrong servers...On our server we fight we die we fight and get our stuff back. We don't even hoard vehicles because you can't protect them that well anyway. We don't even have our own camp.

Not really...some tools are intended to control player behavious, if it is used that way it is abuse. But the way you say it every admin is abusive.

I hope admin, continue to host DayZ, there maybe a few bad apples but on the whole there are some undeniable great servers out there. Some of the new stuff utilised has made the hacker issue less of a threat to common gamers and for that I am greatfull.

I would love to host a DayZ server, But I would sooner have the option to host it and play at the same time from my P.C with only a few reliable people I know. (that is what DayZ is for me a Zombie apocalyps experience)

Well at least there won't be a WarZ model for servers where you can buy one in game. WarZ's model makes my head spin. Buy essential stuff and then pay for the server too?!?!?!?

76: Q: Do you still expect servers to be fan hosted in DayZ Standalone? [/Joe Duck]

A: I think unless we did something like EVE Online, yes, we would have to do that. I would see possibly us hosting a number to kick things off.
