Enragez 0 Posted September 22, 2012 Just looking for some advice on which would be a better gaming rig altogether, and if they would run dayz on high-ish settings? Thanks.http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1068930orhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1043154

Kyzahh 127 Posted September 22, 2012 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1068930I'd say that one.I know the other has a better processor but it's a marginal increase and this one has a much better gfx card.
LunaTiK (DayZ) 45 Posted September 22, 2012 (edited) eh close call. The second has a better motherboard even though it's micro atx and it also has an SSD. SSDs of this size aren't very expensive though. I would just be worried about getting that particular gigabyte board. I haven't been fond of their boards lately at all but this one doesn't even seem to get good reviews. The gigabyte board is crap for overclocking and the CPU coming on it is an overclockers CPU. Personally I would go with the second one and when I needed a new video card get one. To have a 2500k and not be able to overclock it is just a waste. Enragez 0 Posted September 22, 2012 Hey, thanks guys, what do you think abouthttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1050244with an added gpu, say a superclocked gtx 660? adds up to about $740.
LunaTiK (DayZ) 45 Posted September 28, 2012 This is a much better buy. The motherboard and CPU would be ready for OC even without an aftermarker cooler. You could easily get this combo to OC at 4.2Ghz without any worry of overheating or overvolting.

Venzire 76 Posted September 30, 2012 Don't get an Ivy for gaming. They're very delicate on the temperatures. That's all I will say, but it looks like a fine setup if you're on a tight budget.(This needs to be moved...)

That's all I will say, but it looks like a fine setup if you're on a tight budget.(This needs to be moved...)I believe that Ivy Bridge is just fine for gaming. They are cooler than Sandy and a little faster at the same clock speed. If you want to overclock, slap a $30 cooler master on it or a $60 Antec 620 H20 CPU water cooler and you're good to go. You can get very decent overclocks with Ivy and decent cooling.
LunaTiK (DayZ) 45 Posted October 3, 2012 You don't need to worry about temps on ivy bridge cpus it will do fine. what lukeman3000 has said is spot on.
