It locks mouselook, so that mouse doesn't steer. You steer with keys, and look with mouse, just like walking.

I've been finding this method very easy and immersive. Better than GTA in first-person driving.

I dont see whats peoples problem is with steering with the mouse , it makes me feel like im driving perfectly and I always dodge obstacles super fast and impress everyone in the car and they are all like "OHH SHIT MAN" , its so much more fun driving cars with mouse and its much easier to do drifting in it using mouse

Ok, thanks for that tip. Still tho, when I'm sitting in the drivers seat of the Ural it seems like my character is sitting very high in the seat, FOV is limited when facing a rise in topography. Makes it hard to pick a safe route.

FOV settings suck in ArmA 2. One solution would be using a head tracking device...there are also free ones.

I drive in 3DP in the forest to watch for those elusive rocks, but on any road or clearing it is straight back to first person. The guy who drives using the mouse is insane, have tried it on many occasions but just can not seem to get it right.

I always used WSAD in 1st person when driving and flying... so much better plus can hear TS alot better cos the vehicle sounds are muffled inside

depends what youre doing. first person is awesome in most vehicles, its kinda gay in the atv or dirtbike. also its alot better to use 3rd person if youre looking for heli crashes.

My gaming mouse (Tron Razer mouse) has two keys that I can put things onto.. I put the freelook on the mouse (along with chat), greatest decision evar.

One MAJOR problem with driving in a car without 3rd person:

no mirrors

sure, i bet i could learn how to drive in this game if it had mirrors, as long as mirrors dont work though, 3rd person is my first choice

Bohemia changed the steering system in land vehicles in the last patch. totally f'd it up, not very popular with the Arma 2 crowd.

wtf drives cars in GTA in first person view? Why would I drive in first person in DayZ when all the great sights are outside of the car?
