When you make console versions, will that include WiiU

There is more behind the game than you think. ArmA 2 is very CPU demanding. The consoles might have multiple processors, you need some power to calculate every bullet, every effect it has etc...the bottleneck would be the graphics and the ram that is needed, plus the network issues with lots of players.

This might be true in a game that actually does that, but you're confusing Arma II with ACE, which is a very complex, heavily-scripted mod. Current consoles run massive, open-world, physics-intensive environments with complex, multilinear pathfinding like Just Cause 2, Battlefield 3, Assassin's Creed, and the Grand Theft Auto series. Just because many PCs can peak out at complex calculations high above current-gen console processing does not mean that Arma II is flexing those muscles. Because it's not.

Arma II's limitations are that there are two buttons too few on your standard gamepad, not that it is a number-crunching beast. Battlefield 3's physics are far more complicated than Arma II's and it runs on consoles.

Depends. The PS3 runs Mag, a 64/64 player online game. The biggest problem with running large multiplayer maps for consoles is network stability since, for the most part, they have to use proprietary networks that are probably running at capacity. Graphically, though, a game with as little meat on its bones as Arma II would run pretty easily on a console since most of the power I've noticed goes into specific Post-Processing effects.

If the game's customization is as extensive as what the dev team is aiming for, MAG would not be an accurate comparison. 1) Graphics are planned to be a closer to compassion to ARMA III graphics (we'll see). Still nothing crazy so you can side step that.

2) However, when you throw in custom base building, characters with customization, weapon degradation, large player capacity + zombie NPC + animal NPC, LARGE map, bullet physics, etc, etc just to name a few. This is ALOT for console hardware to handle. A lot of custom stuff to load and compute from server to server. You're greatly overlooking the complexity of this game.

Like I mentioned previously, if they can do it, great. Rocket said he was developing solely for PC first so developing for console after won't affect my PC experience at all. I just don't see the game being able to make a clean port with no cuts.

ACE is using the same engine, only difference that some settings have been tweaked a bit to get closer to reality. Remember ArmA 2 is already simulating reality to a certain degree. I wouldn't agree that much that BF 3 has good physics, it's more a Hollywood show than anything else. Why should a helicopter be able to avoid a shell fired from a tank? Every bullet in BF3 flies slower than their real counterpart, Helos can "dance" around without the pilots losing control etc. Yes they are rather twisted physics.

Please explain why I can run Battlefield 3 on ultra with no problems but have to run 'high' not 'very high' in DayZ then...

Depends. The PS3 runs Mag, a 64/64 player online game.

MAG supports 256 players

PS3 also has a few MMOs already.

That was my point...

The number of buttons isn't an issue, you can program buttons to perform different actions when pressed, held or double tapped so a controller could easily be made to work with DayZ. The problem is that even the standalone will be using an ARMA 2.5 engine and most likely won't run on an Xbox 720.

Don't always blame the mod. If you can't run at full graphics it is the engine and not a mod that stops you from doing so. Don't confuse engine and mod.

I believe the game will be slimmed down for the SA. perhaps the slimming down will allow the game to be ported over to consoles much more easily. Rocket mentioned there are elements that couldn't be implimented because of the Arma 2 engine issues and restrictions. With the SA these hurdles could be resolved.

After reading this, I can see a way for things to happen for consoles but only after a good re-boot of DayZ in the SA. and I would love to know who Rocket spoke to at Gamescon with regards to the console idea.
