Snipers are everywhere and NO WHERE

So what can be done if anything to combat snipers just laying outside of loot areas sniping everyone and anyone. I can never find where the shots are coming from before dieing. A lot of people don't see the point in running for hours when as soon as you get to a good loot area a sniper one shot kills you. This is happening so much it doesn't surprise me people turn to hacking. I don't see anything that I can do differently other than server hop to low pop servers and loot them that way, which i have not done yet. Too much time is wasted and I think i'm done even trying to loot these areas on populated servers. Any ideas??? I mean i've tried everything, stealthy doesn't work dusk doesn't work i'm at the end of my rope... Like my title says there everywhere and nowhere! Any suggestions on how you get around this problem would be appreciated, Thank You!

Get an L85, scan with thermal. Map knowledge also helps to know common sniper spots

Speed and knowledge. You need to know where likely sniper spots are (every hill in Elecktro for example) and find deadzones where they cannot hit you.

Then you need to sprint from deadzone to deadzone. You also need to be able to get into a dead sprint quickly when you hear a shot, binding sprint to the spacebar (instead of WW) is useful for this.

Hunting the bastards down usually doesn't work. At least for me. I usually get noticed immediatly, tracked down like an animal, and killed. Who knows though, maybe you just saved somebody :)

Thank you for the ideas, maybe I've just had bad luck as of late, just seems all i get done is run to good loot spot and bam sniped. Better luck tomorrow i guess, thanks.

As for the L85 never even seen one yet, I'll keep a look out for one of those.

L85s can be found at Heli Crash sites (or in camp cities around the edge of the map).

Heli Crash sites are found at places like the open fields on the outskirts of Stary etc. But honestly simply staying well away from Cherno and Elektro is your best bet for avoiding sniping bandits.

I am assuming you play alone.

Unfortunately being stealthy doesnt help because zombies spawn as you approach and snipers know this. All they have to do is wait for zombies to spawn and then they will inevitably find you.

Your best bet is to keep moving and only stop when you are completely covered and not in view of possible sniper spots. Dart from cover to cover, dont bother sneak running. You will probably capture a zombie train but they are so pathetic that you can easily lose them.

Its a pain, but the threat of bandits is what makes Day Z so compelling. I just wish the sniper aiming wasnt so piss easy at 500m

Just zigzag like a boss and you'll be fine.

Having sniped and been sniped at, hitting a moving target is quite challenging, assuming you aren't running directly at them. If you are killed while running, you might as well appreciate a good shot.

follow what everyone is telling you but having some map knowledge of where snipers tend to be at certain cities and what areas are visible to them is helpful. Don't gather like a snail when you see a pile of loot don't take your time to find some ammo. Have a good memory of loot so it's easier to spot what you need and grab it without taking your sweet time. NEVER loot areas on higher ground because snipers can see you. Try to stay on the ground to loot areas once you get a weapon go hunt the snipers =)

This is why the no skill 1 shot snipers should be removed from game. at least give survivors a chance and give me a sense of achievement when i snipe someone.

never lay down, easy target. try to keep moving and when u are shot at: RUN!

No, seriously, that shit works 99% of the time because DayZ snipers can't snipe for shit and all of the people who can actually aim are using assault rifles so you'll see them coming.
