Took gear from ammobox, how to get rid of it?

Hi folks,

I am an absolute newbie at DayZ and untill yesterday I didn't even know about scripting or cheating.

Yesterday I found a box in a barn. This box was full of guns and gear and everything. I thought "Haha, great", took some valueable stuff and ran away. Walked around for 30 min, killed some zombies and finally logged of.

This morning I talked to a friend, he called me an idiot for taking stuff out of a cheated "ammobox" and that I will become globally banned the next time I log onto a server.

Now, what to do? Can I get rid of this stuff and start with a new character? What can I do to avoid to be banned? I don't think I'm banned yet, but how tio be sure? Any help is appreciated!

Haha,, That gear wont get you banned .. Use the Seach bar next time ....

- Only HACKERS get banned, not the people taking stuff

Yea you won't get banned unless you are the one that spawned it.

Either keep the gear or be fully legit and put it in a full bag.

That should make it disappear.

Thanks, that's a relief. I assume you are sure? After searching around a bit I think I have a gun now that's only in ARMA II, but not DayZ.

Damn cheaters, silly me :-)

As long its not hacked weapons like as50 TWS or any gun that does not belong in the mod you wont get banned. I killed a hacker earlier and took his m4 cco sd and i saw he had a AS50 TWS in his coyote pack so i took it and laid it on a zombie body and used the option to hide it.

Yep, you're perfectly safe unless you spawn them in, don't worry. Tons of people use hacked weapons because they don't enjoy legit survival elements.

No, I am sorry, I don't remember. It is sniper rifle with a very good sighting telescope, a 30 round magazine (something with NATO mun) and some kind of pedestal mounted on it.

ye its AS50 with Thermal, damn that gun...

just move it from your main inv. to backpack and the gun will be disappear, leave ammo it is very rare and if u manage to find legit a AS50 it will come handy..

That's what most of the players claim when they get caught with a hacked illegal weapon no matter if they were responsible for hacking it in or not. It's true there is no way to track down a hacked legal weapon but most people coming into contact with said ammo box / medic box will always take the best weapon, namely the AS 50 TWS, the weird thing is everyone knows it is the best weapon but nobody considers it being an illegal weapon.

This might be true, but I just took a random, cool looking sniper rifle. I guess that's what most unexperienced players would do in this situation. I still habe no clue what weapon I took, I will find out when I connect to a server tonight.
