Ipurgepeople 106 Posted September 16, 2012 Because a mod like DayZ has the potential* to encourage a wide variety of player interactions but people like you seem to insist on shitting it up with your generic deathmatch playstyle and the only way to cope with that playstyle is to adopt it yourself, ergo everyone ends up playing Call Of Duty: Chernarus Ops regardless of how they originally intended to play the game.Speak for yourself, please, mate. Not all of us have reverted to KoS. Only when I'm surprised or trapped do I kill on sight. Such as when I was on a pitch black server without NVGs, it was storming, and suddenly in a lightning flash 5 feet ahead of me was a dude with a rifle. He died immediately as I was standing on my chair and breaking my left click button in his general direction. However, I usually play on low-pop servers to avoid the masses of hackers and KoS players, so I can play how I want, that is slaughtering as many zombies as I feel like and giving people transfusions and the like. Not all of us have adapted a KoS mentality. Only in extenuating circumstances does KoS come to mind.
Angel Knight 427 Posted September 16, 2012 Just give them a back story, Dave Alcott III was an elite sniper with the Navy Seals who was dropped into Chernarus as part of a NATO mission to assist with containing the infected threat. His team was overrun and he tried to protect the mass if refugees fleeing Cherno when he accidentally shot a child mistaking it with a sad. He suffered a psychotic break and now spends his time sniping people in Cherno.Everyone's backstory would end with the same 9 words as yours.
sostronk 334 Posted September 16, 2012 This game is nothing like CoD, so don't even dare try and say such a thing. The game is played by a large majority of players like it is a COD game. This has decreased a bit since the hackers started getting banned though.
Inception. 9443 Posted September 16, 2012 And this ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when you try too hard when making a thread. But you see, I made the thread. There was no hard of effort involved.
Maca (DayZ) 769 Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) Playstyles1. Survivor's (Like to kill Infected + only kill defending themself)2. Hero's (Help survivor's out + kill bandits)3. Bandits (Are snipers/raiders + kill survivor's/Hero's) nothing wrong with that.4. Deathmatcher's (This is the problem)Yes it is a sandbox/game and we all understand what that is ( you can go wherever you want and do whatever you want ). So the first 3 playstyles are what this game needs for it to evolve into the game we all want and hope the Dev's can achieve. Then we have this kos mentality, now if a hero comes across a bandit its kos and vise versa. Bandits shoot everything even other bandits, again there's nothing strange about this.Same with survivors who get surprised ( before they know it they've pulled the trigger). All 3 playstyles are suited to what this experiment is trying to achieve, PvE,PvP and even some Co-op.Now the last playstyle is the problem, because there was an invasion of this mentality which creeped into every core of this game and like everything else it had a profound impact which started of a "Domino Effect"............... chris p. bacon 182 Posted September 16, 2012 I understand that this game wouldn't be as good as it is without all the individually chosen play styles, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to flame people for what they chose.
jakeo10 9 Posted September 16, 2012 OP is participating in the same 'flaming' everyone else does. Rather amusing.

Kyzahh 127 Posted September 16, 2012 Bandits aren't really a problem but deathmatchers are, I feel.Yes it is a sandbox game and the whole point is to play the way you want but in a sense, it isn't a complete sandbox game because you're given a scenario and you choose the way you play within that scenario. And the thing is, bandits fit into the 'theme' of DayZ while deathmatchers... don't.I know I (And my mates) had a lot more fun on this mod when the majority of the people playing already owned ArmA 2 and OA before DayZ was released. No, I'm not going to tell them to go play CoD, but the thing is... this IS a mod, you can play ArmA 2 without playing DayZ (That is what you bought after all). So if they just want to shoot at each other, there are other servers still running non DayZ missions where you can PvP / PvE AI with guns all you want. John Spectre 32 Posted September 16, 2012 'Bandit' generally implies 'robber' etc... 'Bandits' who kill to loot needed supplies add to the game.Snipers who sit on hillsides and indiscriminately kill add absolutely nothing to the game.I don't really care if its your 'playstyle' I think it ruins the game, and therefore I will speak out against it, particularly as the Stand Alone is being written as we speak, and I want my voice heard as to how I believe the game should be.just my 2 cents

Finding a sniper rifle will be hard enough that fewer players will be willing to risk losing it on a hill over Elektro.
Ipurgepeople 106 Posted September 16, 2012 I agree with Angel in that regard. Fewer, yes. Gone? Not a chance.
EndEffeKt 87 Posted September 16, 2012 I agree on Angels post. The majority of this cal.50 AM-rifles is not found, its hacked in and then found, by some guy who thought: "Yeah baby yeah, that things goin to make the biggest holes ever!" I personally would hide every single one of them...Maybe we will see a decrease in stupid sniping with a decrease in scripted high-end military equipment... I hope so.
