Red_Sky 140 Posted September 12, 2012 Well apparently the only ones that exist are "Overwatch" or "Designated Marksman"You're not fooling anyone.Nothing wrong with a team of legitimate snipers and L85's, Arguably best weap setups for Chernarus pvp.Just stop trying to make yourself sound superior and unique to the rest of your squad.

Inception. 9443 Posted September 12, 2012 But you see, I am the 'designated marksman'. My group has agreed on this, and I carry at least two snipers at all times, that are suitable for situations that may perhaps occur. I always have multiple snipers in my car, such as an M14, DMR [for night], AS50, or even an SVD for when remaining completely unseen is required.I am also over-watch because of this. There's no problem with this. If you want to feel useful or role play with squad roles and try to get that kinda feel for the game I can understand that I suppose but then you may handicap yourselves for some situations. Your designated food and beverage carrier dies first etc.. Someone may be better at sniping but the only time I don't see that effecting many situations.. Maybe if you see 1 guy and want a guaranteed kill after 1 shot?

Maybe if you see 1 guy and want a guaranteed kill after 1 shot? The better sniping is for firefights [squad vs squad if that happens], camp raiding, trading, escorting [perhaps], and high population area looting. I mean, my group don't always have someone ALWAYS playing a role. If a group member/friend wants to be overwatch, then I'm more than happy to let them; I wouldn't say no at all, even if it's a serious situation. My role as the main sniper is more of a 'quick response' role. If we get into a firefight and/or spot multiple players that are working together, I am normally the one to quickly take position as the sniper.
Taiphoz 95 Posted September 12, 2012 I play as our groups sniper, but were not all snipers, in fact a few of us hate/cant snipe to save their lives, they use more close range guns, I do kinda agree tho that far to many people are running around as snipers using sniper rifles who frankly have no buisiness using those weapons and have no clue how to play that role in any sort of effective way.As a sniper a 1:1 kill death ratio is not good MKay!.I had one guy tell me he was a brilliant sniper, I asked him how many shots he takes before he moves, his reply was "Why move I sit all day and snipe from the same spot in cherno" .. ROFL... idiots I tell ya, half of them are idiots. In ALL fairness tho and I have said this before, if the close combat gun game with Assault rifles was as fluid as something like CoD or CS then more people might use it, but at the moment the close combat gun game is very clunky, no one likes to run around without their gun aimed and ready to fire, hell the special forces dont move without having their gun aimed the direction their going so why does arma force the players gun down. Make the close combat gun game more fluid and less people will snipe, leaving the real snipers to get down to it without the hassle of idiots on a hill shooting 30 rounds and then being surprised when they get shot in the back of the head. The close combat is supposed to be the closest possible to real life (Arma2 is a simulation game guys, ever heard about it?) and I agree with the difficulty that comes from it. I say, make the sniping a living hell. The land of Chernarus is filled with open fields, it should be very windy to compensate the danger factor (windy enough for 12 year old snipers on the hills overlooking the airfield to be unable to shoot at someone properly without being patient and using their wits). Also, make us marksmans need to take care of our gun.The wannabe snipers should have to work hard to access the advantages of long range precision shots. That should solve the problem of the sniper overpopulation. That kind of stuff is probably not coming in the mod :( maybe the standalone. Taiphoz 95 Posted September 12, 2012 I wish you would stop tripping on about Arma being a sim, this is not ARMA this is DayZ, sure its a mod, but it stopped being about an Army sim the second they flung us into a world with zombies. So pull your head out your arma'ss and get with the Zombie picture.SCREW ARMA!.I only paid for the game to play DayZ, and could not care less about ARMA, so just because thats how its done in Arma is not a reason not to or to be forced to do something in dayZ. You're giving them more attention then benefit to your own cause, I find the thread pointless but not pointless enough to have any action done. Just try not to let it get out of hand.
