MisterCrow 0 Posted September 11, 2012 2 suggestions, which would be very minor, but cool I think:1. Rather than have guns with (non-detachable) suppressors, why not find suppressors in military areas which you can attach to guns yourself. Obviously the suppressors would be specific to each gun (i.e. an M9 suppressor would only be attachable to an M9 - and not an M4). Furthermore, it seems daft not to be able to use regular (non-SD) clips in a silenced weapon. Don't know if this is true to life or not??2. Be cool if you could see the clip that's loaded into a weapon in your inventory. Therefore when you load a weapon with a clip it would come out of the bag and into the gun - have like a little picture in the bottom right corner of your main weapon slot. Then you could change the mag you want to use. For example, if you had one round left but didn't want to waste it, you could swap it out for a full clip, then take out a load of zombies or whatever. Then later you could load your single round clip back into your weapon and use it to down a cow :P.Not revolutionary changes I know, but it's the details that make these things so great! Tenebris Draco 63 Posted September 11, 2012 Someone corrected me for it, I'm gonna do it to you. http://cdn.firearmstalk.com/forums/attachments/f56/30827d1310819639-glock-22-estimate-clipmag.jpgAnyway, back on topic, first idea really isn't needed to be honest, you either find a suppressed gun or not. And for the second one, I could see why you would want it, but just drop the one bullet mag, your not gonna do much with it XD
Spekter 3 Posted September 11, 2012 Suppressors IRL do not require special ammo. However, there are certain ammo manufactures that make ammo that is better suited for those kinds of uses. The problem with making it more realistic, in my humble opinion, if that no matter what you do in real life- a suppressor will eventually stop working and simply become a barrel extension with no rifling. So in game suppressors would have to have so many uses then stop working. That would be the fair way to do it if you removed SD ammo. Otherwise, everybody and their cousin would be silent and next to impossible to hunt down. Making Cherno and Elektro caged deathmatch arenas.

schrapple 119 Posted September 11, 2012 Some rifles do have silenced ammo which is a lot lower in power to keep the bullet sub sonic, along with this is a big reduction in hitting power and range. Guns like a silenced M4 would still make a lot of noise when fired (a silencer can only silence the bang of the charge not the loud crack the bullet makes when breaking the speed of sound) unless they used sub sonic ammo. Basically I agree with you and would also like to see silenced rifles made more true to life in regards to noise too.
colekern 1364 Posted September 12, 2012 For #1, the barrel would have to be threaded.
Weedz 1105 Posted September 12, 2012 In real life suppresed guns use subsonic rounds. If they didn't the sound from the bullet breaking the sound barrier coming out of the barrel would ruin the whole point of using the silencer.

They do reduce the noise but the main point is to try prevent people from pin pointing the firers position because the sound from the charge is direction but the sound from the sonic boom radiates making a direction harder to determine an exact location.
