I Give Up Please Help With FPS?

Recommended Posts

Hello there, thanks for offering to help a guy out :)

Now onto the topic, I FUCKING HATE MY FPS IN DAYZ. I've tried a numerous amount of posts on how to get more our of my computer but I haven't noticed any really good changes.

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3

Processor: AMD Sempron 145 Processor (2.8 GHz)

Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6570

RAM: 10240MB

-I plan to upgrade my processor soon, any suggestions within $120?

-Same with my graphics, $120

-Do I have enough ram?

-Is an entire new computer needed?

One of my friends Uses game booster (ends all unnecessary background process) which you can find with a quick google search.

Other than that close everything before you launch.

Another suggestion might be to drop your Graphics settings (Disable everything possible.) Might look a lil worse but could make your gameplay smooth as silk :) best of luck

best starting point is to post the contents of your config file here. you can find it at /documents/arma 2/ArmA2OA.cfg

just copy/paste everything in it. also, are you using six launcer, dayz commander or steam to launch the game? What startup parameters are you using?

As stated earlier, closing all unnecessary processes can help. Make sure all drivers/firmware for all your hardware is up to date. Get the real drivers for your graphics card and don't rely on what windows gives you.

hello there

Post processing is a no no turn that all off.

Why is cpucount=1??

Set your GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1

really, there are no magic tweaks, it's a case of getting it right for your system.

Arma2 is very very processor hungry so your game play experience will never uber smooth.

Your best bet is to visit the Bohemia forums as the optimisation has been discussed in vaaaaaast detail there.

OK

After a hundreds of posts about fps and performance i will finally post my oppinion

Arma 2 have strange engine for sure , Dayz is putting even more on top , BUT what's goin on - i'll tell you

Chernarus map have some really bad optimisation - only this map , i have 65 fps on both Arma 2 games and maybe 30-35 in cities - this is in sigleplayer with lots of tanks , AI , shooting , explosions and whatnot but on Chernarus single player i have lower fps especially near buildings no matter the count of AI or what they do

SO Dayz is dropping the fps even more + the map itself + LOW GPU usage (25%) near buldings + 450 Zombies + 45 players=13 fps in towns when online in Dayz

The problems are - the map Chernarus , the low gpu and maybe cpu usage(which is pretty interesting)

The people here always talk about PC specs and cfg files - this is wrong - they help a little but the fps still stays pretty much the same

when you have quad or six core cpu - yes it is better , but in cities fps drops - this should not happen

i have C2D E4400 @ 3Ghz 2MB L2 cache , ENGTX 260 SP 216 896 MB, 4 GB 800Mhz 6-6-6-15 ram and the game is runing fine in singleplayer , Dayz also is fine but only in forests when the GPU usage is 95 % where it should stay all the time btw

Yes - the servers are important - one server is fast and others are laggy but the problem with gpu usage persists , yes- six core cpu will give you more frames , but why in cities the fps still goes down , if you have 70 in forests , in cities will drop to 40 , and in my case forests-35( online Dayz) cities-13-15 , on every machine the problem is the same , just not so noticeable

and yeah , i hope the standalone will be much better , and Arma 3 also - it is a great game

sorry for my possible bad english , i just get tired of repeating posts about pc specs and cfg files and suggestions for 2000$ pc's , this is not the case

All this is on whatever settings - even with 8 AA - same fps , Post Processing dont change nothing from disabled to normal - only terrain

and objects detail are giving some fps ...

however , this is not helping post but sure thing is to put some frames ahead - both in the cfg file and on the graphics control panel - maybe 4 or 8 - the fps will stay almost the same but you get more fluid feel when playing

Hello there

Chernarus is well known to be a beast of a map, that's why so many other maps are popular ie Lingor in DAYZ / Takistan in A2 (to name one of many)

Hopefully Dayz stand alone will move to a different or more optimised version of Chernarus.

Lastly, turning of post processing is a simple and yet great help for those with less powerful machines.

The changes I would suggest you making are below in red. You should see a bid difference. Once you make these changes in your config file, save it, right click it and go to properties, click "read-only" so Arma doesn't change any of them back. The bigest issues I saw was the render resolution was different then your screen resolution and you were trying to pre-render 1000 frames. Also post-processing.

Testing these settings now, I can't play @ 800x600 just because it's blurry. Everythnig else is ur setting though, ill see how much more FPS i get :D

My opinion, don't buy that shit. It's a huge scam, so I wouldn't recommend it.
