Snoa 0 Posted June 13, 2012 Hello, so I was with my recently-joined clan in vent, and we were supposed to meet each other at a certain set of coordinates, that were set up like "012345". And I was very confused about how to decode that 6-digit numbers in to coordinates, and how to use those coordinates on the map. So can anyone help me? Ejaculacid 19 Posted June 13, 2012 The first 3 digits are the ones on the top/bottom of your map. If you zoom out, you only get the first 2 digits of each 3 digit part, but zooming in gives you all 3. The second 3 digits are down the sides. Always across the bottom, then up the sides. What i found on arma2 mapping, hopefully it works.
Snoa 0 Posted June 13, 2012 Some of those numbers are right in the middle of the square. So how would you know which were longitude and which were latitude?

FlyingIrishMan 0 Posted June 13, 2012 Once you get an ingame map you will understand. It is grided, on the top there are three numbers e.g 051, on the sides those same numbers are there e.g 095 When put together its 051095, so you find number 051 along the top, and move down along that column, until you hit row 095. I see, if I remember correctly, numbers 1-12 running top to bottom and left to right.
dallas 5195 Posted June 13, 2012 Squares are marked depending on how far you've zoomed in/out on the map.Single digits = 10x10km.Double digits = 1x1km.Triple digits = 100x100meters.Coordinates are posted in 6-digits, if you need to be more exact use the numpad."The sniper is located at 065045 numpad 6." Serthure (DayZ) 5 Posted June 13, 2012 Read the coordinates like you would draw an L.From the side to the bottom ^^

I see, if I remember correctly, numbers 1-12 running top to bottom and left to right.yes. so using the map below Stary Sobor is is 0607 (Top then side) for ease of explaining the numbers that are in the centre of the squares are the grid coordinates. Street directories also display the same way just with letters and numbers (well australian ones do anyhow) so people don't get confused.Novy Sobor is in 0707 Now when you zoom in further you see that there is 3 numbers. this is because the image above gets chopped up into 100 smaller squares. 10x10 grid. and so the numbers get added onto the end. so the factory on the east side of Stary Sobor is approx 064 077 (i don't have a ingame map to work off)

Snoa 0 Posted June 13, 2012 Alright, so from what I gather:-If the coordinates are 123456, then I find the square that intersects the first COLUMN and the fourth ROW? And then if I zoom in even further, I would find the square that intersects the 23rd COLUMN and the 56th ROW? Is that right?
zippy32 1 Posted June 13, 2012 I learnt this method/phrase many years ago - "Across the hallway, up the stairs"In other words, read along first, then up. Looking at your map pic above (although it's not zoomed in enough to get the smaller boxes) the blue box would be in box 0607.If you had zoomed in enough to get the smaller boxes up (10 per big box) - I'm guessing the blue box would be at 066,078.Alright' date=' so from what I gather:-If the coordinates are 123456, then I find the square that intersects the first COLUMN and the fourth ROW? And then if I zoom in even further, I would find the square that intersects the 23rd COLUMN and the 56th ROW? Is that right?[/quote']No, you would find the big box that intercedes at 12th Column and 45 row and then within that the 3rd smaller box along (column) and 6th row up.The bigger boxes are two digits each, the smaller boxes are 1 digit each and come 3rd and 6th in the sequence. So 12(3), 45(6).Box 12 along, Box 45 up.Then within that box, box 3 along and box 6 up.Edit : What I mean is - in ARMA the big boxes have two digits, so 00-09 and then 10 onwards. The smaller boxes only have 1 digit 0-9.
