Instant Death + Spawn On Coast With Nothing But Ghillie

Can anyone explain what just happened? Playing with 1.7.2.6 and latest A2.

I was up north with Ghillie, SVD Camo, M9SD, CCO SD, Coyote Backpack, NVGs, Rangefinders, GPS, etc... the works. Then, upon entering a server, I see my death message before I even get control of my character. Fearing the worst, I alt-f4 in some vain hope that maybe I can escape this. When I join another server, I choose my gender (male) and spawn near Kamenka with my Ghillie suit on, but nothing else (not even a flashlight, bandage, painkillers, etc).

Can anyone explain what may have occurred? My friend has also spawned on the coast with nothing but his former outfit but I cant remember if he died or saw the message beforehand (for him it has happened wearing everything but civilian clothing, including the British soldier uniform).

Please help! Did I do something wrong or do you just run this risk if you wear any alternate clothing?

Its just alpha, go back to the server you were playing on and return to the place that you had originally logged out at. You should find your body where you left it up north with all equipment.... Unless someone else has found it first. Either way best of luck, happened to me twice, though I don't bother going back to my old body I just re-gear (for the fun of it).

Certainly has nothing to do with the closing. Happened to me, when i was sick of staring at the loading screen and left the game via task manager. Next server i tried gave me the death message and i spawned on the coast without anything but my bare hands. The kill stats didnt reset thou and since it was pretty close to cherno and balota airfield didn`t bother me any further.

If you can't find it, feel free to summarize what they were saying. It could be interesting since there is very few official word about this bug.

Couldn't find it (yet?) because the reddit search engine is utter...

However, i do remember that the only way to fix it is to quit (altF4) as soon as you see the "[your name] was killed" message in the loading screen. Your body with all your gear will be where you logged out last time if let it load through and you can run there and pick it all up. If it's on the other side of the map, bad luck.

Logging out and joining another server AFTER it happened worked for me ONCE, but the other times i've just lost my gear and started over and didn't bother spending 2 hours running to my dead body.

The post on reddit also stated that to prevent it (not proven in any kind of way, mainly anecdotal evidence of course), is to wait a few seconds before hitting "Ok" to join the server. Spent at least 5-10s in the server screen where the players and pings are listed, then hit Ok. This "worked" for me so far as well, but this might also be mere coincidence than a real fix to the problem.

I will try the Alt+F4 thing at spawning and waiting in the lobby. It's seems a little odd but who know...

Happened to me. I'm not a pro alt-f4'er, so I stayed in like a man and spawned in the debug plains. Relogged and had all my stuff, but was at the coast. Looks like alt-f4'ing screwed you over.

Has happened to me too. Luckily, had just come fairly south from far NE and after relogging was able to sprint back to my body and get everything back. It was tight because even my hunger and thirst weren't resetted and were pretty deeply red on spawning. Have had the variant of this numerous times, when I insta-die on login, after reloggin spawn on coast but with all my gear. I have noticed that everytime this happened i had logged out inside a pine tree, but I don't now if that had anything to do with it.

That happened to me the other day as well. I'm pretty sure you were killed by a hacker. Your body will still be where you died and you can get your gear back ( assuming it hasn't been looted).
