I may get back on for a little but for the most part it'll just be to fuck around. I tried to set up a serious camp for the first time now that I imagine tents are saving correctly in the barn North of the NEAF earlier this evening. Of course the zombies bugged out and wouldn't leave the barn, they were bugged facing the corners not noticing me and not moving. So I take out my G17 and 2 head shots later I have an empty barn. My plan was to set up camp with a tent and unload my Alice pack into it. After that I wanted to go gather some firewood and make a fireplace inside the barn and just chill for a little, then go loot the airfield. I didn't get much further than that because I was very rudely interrupted from my RP attempt. Almost immediately after I placed the tent I hear a grenade go off. Alright no biggie, I slowly maneuvered behind the tent and just waited for the sonofabitch to come for me. I was looking out the little 6"x3' vertical window and couldn't see or hear anything. Finally after about 30-40 seconds he comes in spraying an M4 all over the place. He clearly couldn't see me cause he was facing the back of the barn as I pumped about 5 slugs from an 870 into his right side. He passed out almost immediately and I finished him off with 3 more slugs to the chest.

About 5 seconds after the flies started singing his body sinks through the floor. He passed out right in the doorway and died there so I thought maybe he had a buddy right outside that saw him get domed and hid his body as fast as he could so I couldn't loot his shit. I stand up and slow walk around the tent aiming out the door the whole time just in case there's someone else that wants to taste a slug. I go outside and see a bunch of dead zombies that I didn't kill and I didn't hear him kill lying right outside the barn doors as well as a few still runnin' around. I stood in the doorway searching the area half expecting to be shot at any moment but I didn't.

My thought process at this time was that this guy tried to kill me and somehow hid his own body. Scripter or Hacker one of the two. Unless as I said his buddy hid his body and then aborted at light speed. Then that turned into disappointment because I've been wanting to set up a camp here ever since I found this place and now some asshole knows where I just placed my only tent (Not sure if you can move them once they're placed). I wasn't able to come up with much of a plan after that because I died shortly thereafter no shots no nothing just *bam* dropped dead. So now I'm 100% sure I killed a scripter or hacker, and he was so butthurt that he hid his own body and executed me as soon as he spawned back in.

I don't usually come across any hackers on the servers I usually play on luckily, but as it stands anyone in the server could be a hacker or a scripter. If you kill the wrong person they can just push a key and the 3 hours you just spent looting and planning to get up North to set up a camp for yourself is shot to shit by some butt hurt crybaby. In this situation I was clearly defending myself from this guy and he got fucked up "legally" and he resorts to scripting me to death to get his pride back. I don't even like to fuck with people, I have 50k humanity due to the auto-generate bug, I help when I can, if I can.

My point is hacking and scripting are a HUGE problem with the mod and from what I've read there's absolutely NOTHING that can be done to effectively combat either. So IMO we should leave the mod to the kids who need training wheels to be effective in combat and they can script kill each other all day. At the end of the day, anyone on any server at any time could have the ability to nuke you from orbit and destroy the last hours or days you spent gathering supplies on a whim to feel in control. It doesn't seem like a great way to spend my scarce free time at the moment. Then again this event is still fresh in my mind and when I get up tomorrow morning I'll likely go to another server and try to track down a tent and start over. DayZ is fun to the point of addiction, it's really too bad there's so many sad little people who need to feel powerful. Can't wait for the standalone, Rocket's already pretty much got my $$$ in his pocket for it. I just hope it's not this rampant.

When people abort, they vanish, they don't sink slowly into the floor in the EXACT same fashion as if you hide a body. And the fact that you clearly didn't comprehend the SECOND FUCKING SENTENCE of my post which clearly says it was my first time even trying to set up a tent/camp is pretty fucking retarded. :) I wasn't surprised someone found it I knew it could be found especially in a building (not to mention a damn barn). I was disappointed that someone found me before my camp could even get legs. Where are you getting your information for making such asinine remarks? Because it CLEARLY isn't my post.

Also, you don't find it a little fishy that 30 seconds after I kill someone who killed zombies right outside the barn without me hearing, seeing, or noticing I randomly die from as you say a "glitch" while standing completely still outside a barn with no gunshots, no axes, no nothing, just instant death?

I saw one about a RP server it looked kind of fun but it didn't really pique my interest at all. I've been messing around in the Arma II editor though. Flying, crashing, driving, and shooting vehicles and it's pretty fun.

It was probably a hacker, happened to a friend of mine once, right in front of my eyes(body slowly sinking as soon as he died, killed by pissed off hacker) or it could have been a bug, not sure. But once you feel like playing DayZ again, play on a less populated server(like 20 players) so chances of meeting a scripter is less common and play with a friend next time, it makes the hard part of DayZ much more bearable. There was maybe 10 people on the server at the time, if that. I don't understand how he apparently had the ability to silently kill multiple zombies without making a single sound that were literally on the other side of the wall from where I was, hide his own body after he died, and nuke me when he respawned, yet didn't have any NVG's or anything. Something is fishy about the whole thing.

If you alt-f4 after being hit (but still alive) you will vanish into thin air, however if you disconnect right after seeing you are dead, the other players will see your body sinking into the ground.

And think! It's been around since 2001! The editor is pretty much exactly the same as it was back in 2001 in OFP.

It's finally good to see ArmA in the spotlight. People playing DayZ will eventually try out vanilla ArmA and see how great it is.

If he had an AS50 or M107 then you would be dead before you heard the gunshot because the rounds are supersonic, so it was quite possibly not a scripter, and i have also seen peoples bodies sink into the ground when they abort/alt-F4 in a similar fashion to the hide body animation. This sounds like a legit death to me.

I think you're wrong, heres a story:

Near full server, I was near a barn and a zombie aggro'ed onto me. As he got closer to me he dropped dead, for no reason. Shortly after another player just appears in front of me (I didn't have a weapon, or I would have panic fired). He talks to me over direct chat for a while and asks me if I want anything (I told him no, if it matters).

I noticed that zombies aggroing onto us were just dying as they got close... so I asked him why:

He said "Thats my killshield"

So now whenever I just silently *drop dead* in situations where its unlikely a long range sniper could have shot me, I know the above is *probably* how I died.

All 3 deaths I had tonight were to scripters (but in a more obvious teleport players to X location to die style). ANZ servers are really bad lately.

Anyway OP, try ACE mod for now. Its hard finding a server, but when you do its a lot of fun.
