Backpack slot. Alt to Classes/profession. V2.0

Recommended Posts

Medic: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=706 - Defibrillators

Electrician: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=6791 - portable generators

RTO: Long Range Radios, All military vehicles have one included by default. It should also be a portable version that you can carry like in ACE. I believe long Range Radio is a must.

As suggested by Deuzerre.

Support: LMG and AT4

Mule: Backpacks to carry more items then normal inventory.

Disclaimer: these are just place holders, don't based your opinion on the list above. through I would like to see long range radios, Electrician, Mule and Difibs (if they found a good way to use the difibs)

The post isn't about those, if you have a idea based on those go to that post lol

_________________

All these promote group play as a stand alone item. but this isn't where the idea could end. If you had these items take up the back pack slot, it would promote group play even more with out harm of lone wolf style.

It is also a alternative to player classes. In player class you chose your class, get some perk and you're stuck with it till you die. Well in this if you want to be a medic, then drop your back pack and become a medic.

BAZINGA you went from a mule to a medic! (or visa versa)

for exp, 4 guys, 1 with a gen. another with a defibrillator. and then the other two mules that extra carried food/water/ammo in their back packs. if 3 died leaving 1 guy with a gen, he could just drop the gen and pick up a back pack since that's the idea item for lone wolf play.

causing the backpack to indirectly promote group play.

You still start off with a backpack and you can upgrade that backpack if you want. So there isn't any threat to lone wolf gameplay. It would be the exact same as it is now.

the only difference is that you have the option to drop the backpack for a generator, Radio, etc.

No. Dont think this gonna work. People dont HAVE to play together. This would make playing alone a pain or almost impossible.

They don't HAVE to play together with this this.

I'm not forcing you to use a generator, or a backpack, or link up with each other. I'm giving you a choice, to carry big objects that powers lights, or brings a friend back alive or carry a backpack to increase your inv space.

HELL if you want to, you can just drop your backpack and free ball it.

And playing with this implemented, would be exactly like it is now for lone wolfs. lol

I like the generator idea but a portable defibrillator isn't too bulky and so maybe it can take say 10 slots in your backpack and need to be in your main weapon slot to use. or 5 slots and your pistol slot etc.

I like the idea of reviving people.

Instead of death perhaps a blackout that unless player gets 'coup de grace' in person before looting is made possible it's treated like a type of pass out animation otherwise?

and like the pain/shock if you log out you die but if you get 'revived' you continue?

Not sure about taking up backpack slot to revive friends though.

Might work if a sniper pair (one paddle/one gen) could cover a group and if they all die the sniper kills the enemy and revives them but that's kind of a stretch for setting up/encouraging team work.

Would rather have a adrenaline needle as it would work better in small groups/spread among groups...

A paddle setup seems a little to complicated.

one of the reasons I want it to be on the back, is cause it makes them a bigger target, Risk=Rewards

Like how Mg42 gunners in ww2 where main targets for Allied forces

Some long range radios could be "backpacks".

Like you have a team of 4 that's on the ground. One has a defib, two are mules, and the last is radio girl communicating with the huey overhead, gunning down and spotting zeds.

That's a really good idea, You should make a separate thread on the concept ;)

if there isn't one already.

Just add this to your thread. Focusing similar ideas in the same thread is better than spreading them all around. And you have very good ideas, overall, so your threads have more chances to be recognised by reputation.

Just quote the original message and add "All military vehicles have one included by default".

Thanks ;) A lot of my idea's got deleted by the hack last week

I reposted them in a thread all together but it never picked up steam, I might delete it and post them all in separate threads.

I don't think people like threads all bunched up like that.

Seeing as how NONE of my friends play PC games, this would eff me over for no reason whatsoever except that you feel scurred playing alone.

I don't get how this would eff you over? If this was implemented, You still start with a backpack, and can still upgrade to a new one.

Lone wolf gameplay isn't changed at all, Only group play.

Belive me, I Play lone wolf, through I'm a big advacet for group play.

I wouldn't suggest anything that would put down one or another style of game play specially my own type of game play!

It's the kind of item that's rather specific. It's useful, but only when you work on a team, and it replacing the backpack is a major drawback.

Sure, a Defib is a major advantage, as it would revive someone. But while you carry this, you can't carry much in your inventory: Barely anything actually. Ever had your pack fall in water?

And a generator is kind of worse than night flares. It would be useful in towns, and to potentially refill torches/start vehicles faster.

Radios would be great for teams where you don't always have a VOIP program, or for roleplaying.

I believe this would be great. It doesn't bring anything to solo players, anyway.

And for radios, small individual ones would of course still be available, using big ones as relays.

All with you again Bullfrog.

This give an advantage to teamplay and in the same time doesn't penalize lone wolf.

Agree' date=' people are interpreting it the wrong way through.

I wouldn't penalize my own game style nor would i penalize anyone else's!

It's not like there wont be versions of these that are for lone wolf game style, they just wont be portable.

for exp, Long range radio:Back:: Short range radio: inventory

Portable Generator: back :: Town Generator: towns ;)

defibrillator: back :: Morphine/bandages/blood pack etc. is to inv.

and they already have LMG and AT4 that take up the back pack slot. why not expand on the concept.

Bump for awesome.

Just a small thing: The "support" I'm not really fond of. Maybe it should be a bag that LMG and AT4 ammo could be drawn for automatically as if it was in the vest, unlike how it usually works with ammo in the bag that has to be carried to it's usual space with bandages and stuff, but still a bit of inventory space as normal.

And maybe the bag as accessible to others so they can pick ammo from it with ease? I know people can steal from the bags usually, but I'm no fond of this. If bags were "closed" on awake (not fainted) players it would be great to have the support bag accessible for the other players where they would replenish stored ammo/food.

Med bag would also have a small blood bag/bandages easily accessible pouch for other players to pick.

OH! And this thread http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=10716 made me think of a "Parachutist" class. Half of a coyote bag available, but able to jump from at least 100M.

I don't want to get to deep in to concepts and parameters. just a base idea. LMG are forced to take up both Primary and Backpack slot, due to the realistic parameters of the game. and AT already takes up the backpack slot.

I don't want to turn this post in to the mechanics of those. just put them in since they are already in the game, and they take up the backpack spot now.

Other wise, Med backs and support bags.

Just take a normal backpack and stuff meds/ammo in it ;)

LMG guys still have bags usually IRL. They still have to carry the ammo.

Fair point though, but knowing which guy is the bandages carrier through seeing his/her backpack would have been neat.

well they can. In ACE they have it where you can carry both, but in normal Arma there is some mechanic that prevents it.

Why don't you suggest patches you can put on your bag ;)

Like a Medical patch and a ammo patch or w.e so you're teammates can have a basic understanding what's in your bag with out going in to it

MOSTLY YES

YES to the general idea of having more big items that fill your backpack slot, (or your primary weapon slot)(or the secondary, although 2-3 items per slot is cool)

NO to some of the specifics. Like the defib-unit. Death should be death. Make unconciousness last longer for that sort of play.

This post isn't really about specifics ;)
