Rixen 2 Posted September 3, 2012 I like the female skin and, being a female player, I'd like to use it. But right now I can't use a ghillie suit or camo clothing if I find it. I also have not seen the existence of a female hero skin so I'm thinking that might not exist either. Does it? If not, when will female skins be able to have all the same abilities as male skins?Equality, I say, equality! :P
SmashT 10907 Posted September 3, 2012 It will be fixed in standalone.
intensity (DayZ) 312 Posted September 3, 2012 Wondered before why there was no female ghillie skin... It's not like OMG XXX hours of work! but then again, we hadn't had a working update in 2 months.
Obsolescence 129 Posted September 3, 2012 I dont understand why, for the ghillie at least, they dont just let them use the male model. It isnt as if you can or should be able to tell what sex someone is in a ghillie anyway. At first glance you couldnt tell if chewbacca was a boy or girl (without knowing beforehand). Why would it need to be different when wearing a wookie suit? :)
Nick8478 166 Posted September 3, 2012 It already is viable, you have a smaller hitbox.
nyk_nunya 40 Posted September 3, 2012 I love how they say it will be fixed in standalone as if that's some kind of consolation. It takes very, very little work to rework already made models. It would take someone all of 5 minutes. Not much work is going to be done on the mod, they're working on standalone and will port some things over, but not much. They're at the point where the fun is over, they want money.

Goodrita 27 Posted September 3, 2012 Expanding on that, ghillies are meant to hide form. Meaning it is completely possible for a female to wear a ghillie suit.
catface.jpg 75 Posted September 13, 2012 Hey, quick question. If a player is using Female skin, and reaches 5000 humanity, what happens? I know they don't get the hero skin, but do they get the other buffs? The faster running, the bullet resistance? My wife just hit 5000 and there's no skin change because the models don't exist for female chars yet, but we were wondering if she got the perks.
SmashT 10907 Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) Nothing, pretty sure all the attributes are tied to the actual skin and not the humanity level. Edited September 13, 2012 by smasht_AU
SiiriXX 159 Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) I dont think the skin will change, my character had over 10000 humaity and hers didnt change. I think she did run a little bit faster tho. Edited September 13, 2012 by SiiriXX
lemmiwinks (DayZ) 48 Posted September 17, 2012 it would be good to see the female character be developed more and to be able to have other perks as the male characters.

They're at the point where the fun is over, they want money. While yes, I agree with you on the part where you say you can edit pre-existing models (such as the ghillie suit) to have the more feminine shape (which may I add is completely unnecessary at this point, as they'd look virtually the same) there's still the issue of rigging which can take hours, if not, days of work, which is completely uneccessary, as I've already stated the detail is so minimal not to bother. I say just give females the male ghillie suit model and be done with it till standalone. And this is coming from a female player.Source: I make 3D models so I know wtf I'm talking about
Mandalore (DayZ) 76 Posted September 17, 2012 How do you know, are thou a modeller?Bro, allowing a character to use an existing model only requires ticking a box/adding the path to that model (depends on the program that makes the changes). The overall process shouldn't take more than 5 minutes indeed. Making a female hero skin obviously would require a rework of the female model which takes time. But simply allowing the usage of a non sex-oriented model is not an issue. But then again there are more pressing issues, such as backpacks dissapearing when changing outfits etc.
