Logged out of a server where a hacker teleported everyone to a field north of Cherno. I have to say the fact I can't rejoin a server being attributed to the anti-cheat that allowed a player to teleport an entire server . . . feels bad.

I've manually updated ArmA II several times but every time I launch DayZ Commander it says I have a very old outdated version. I click the Install button there and it launches the beta patcher. The OA beta patcher quickly goes to 100% and says "ArmA2OA patch 1.62 has been applied successfully." but any time I go back to it it says I still have the outdated ArmA version. Nearly all servers are returning bad version errors so I'd really like to fix this.

I'm told (and have seen on streams) that you can refuel a vehicle by pulling up to a gas station. I'm not sure if I just did it wrong or it only works for some vehicles but I pulled up to the gas station west of Elektro today on an ATV that had <1/4 a tank and nothing happened. I pulled up to both the pumps as well as the big white tanks that you can use to fill jerry cans but neither caused the vehicle to gain fuel.

^ Still wondering this. Also, a follow up question: If I log onto a new server before respawning after a death I can change my gender. Is there any other way to trigger a gender change so I can start using my friend's spare ghillie without having to respawn?

Can females still gain the perk of being a hero (The run speed, if it is in fact in-game and not an error on the wiki) or is the perk tied to the skin, not the status?

Just a few questions about humanity and the hero skin: Will your humanity persist through death? I'm at 3660, if I die do I go back to 2500? Can players using the female skin get a hero skin? If not, can they at least get the perks? (I read on the wiki they can run a bit faster.) If you get over 5k Humanity and thus become a hero will that hero status be revoked if you go below 5k?

I like the female skin and, being a female player, I'd like to use it. But right now I can't use a ghillie suit or camo clothing if I find it. I also have not seen the existence of a female hero skin so I'm thinking that might not exist either. Does it? If not, when will female skins be able to have all the same abilities as male skins? Equality, I say, equality! :P

We picked up a friendly kid in-game a few nights ago. He was mostly tolerable. After a while he started repeating anything that the older guys said since he thought it was cool but it wasn't too bad. Last night, however, we finally got to a spot to set up camp and he was whining he couldn't get the tent set up. One of the older guys asked for the tent and he'd set it up and the kid kept running around in circles, messing with the vehicles, saying he'd give him the tent if he could catch him. Moral of the story: Even kids who seem cool at first are still kids.

First off, I understand a lot of people think PvP is the most important aspect of the game. I understand and respect that but, well, I don't tell you how you should enjoy the game, please show me the same courtesy. :) I found a beginner server (US 500) today which claims No PvP in the title. I've not run across many of these servers and basically am wondering if this is legitimately no PvP or if it's "PvP is discouraged but you could still very easily be capped in the ass." I like the idea of setting up a camp, scavenging for supplies, etc. and going to the coast to help newbies, meet people, etc. But any social interaction in this game is nearly impossible since literally 100% of the other players I have run into have killed me on sight. Is US 500 actually a no PvP server in the sense that even if a player shot at me I would not take damage or is it merely a "Hey guys, don't PvP . . . but, you know, we can't really stop you" sort of a scenario? 50.97.201.59:2502 is the server since I see a few 500s.

I've been playing for a while. My friends told me that to talk to folks nearby I should hold Caps Lock which I believe has me talking in the "Group Channel" and that's what is on my screen while the button is pressed. I've never had to talk to anyone in-game though so it's never really come up. Tonight I've been watching guide videos to pick up things I may not know though and states that the Group Channel is for the lobby and that to talk to people nearby I should use the direct channel. Which is correct?

I'd used the Six Launcher for a while but kept getting errors. I tried DayZ Commander and it was a bit better but still I would often be unable to join games. I did a full fresh install of the game (without the Six Updater) and am trying to find a launcher that works best. My friends said they started using a different launcher (I think it still had the Six in the name but not sure) and haven't had a problem but I forgot what they were talking about. Are there other launcher options beyond Commander and Six Launcher?

I'm one of the culprits I admit; I'm new to the game and more often than not players have shot me without asking questions, so I figured that's just how it is. But FWIW if it's a recent increase it probably coincided with ArmA II going on sale for the Steam Summer Sale. That causes a massive influx of idiots in most games as new players come in and vastly outnumber the folks who "know how it's supposed to work," so to speak.

As a Utahn this made me giggle quite a bit. :P

If you don't mind my asking, what sorts of roles and ranks do you have set up? Do you have promotions? If so, how does one earn them? Sorry if I'm being nosy, it's just a sort of strange concept to me.

No, I'm not looking for one or recruiting for one and so I thought this was the better forum for it. A group of friends and I have been playing together for about two weeks now. They've been talking about wanting to make a "clan." I played Counter Strike back in 1.6 days and remember "clans" were essentially (outside of competitive play) just a bunch of people who put the same letters in their names. Is that all it is here? How exactly are clans working in DayZ? Why do people make them?
