ShigZ 66 Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) Every weekend the same thing. I survive all week, walking/driving all the map on servers 5+ players everyday. Comes weekend, BAM! Killed by script kiddies. Now, go and try to report them on the forum. What do you get? People laughing of your ruin. Asking for video proof, saying that otherwise it didn't happen. You know why? So they can laugh harder at your disgrace on youtube. I went through a lot of cheat report posts and all of them had people making jokes. Is that our community, really?Everybody is waiting for the stand alone to come and save us all from peril, like a divine intervention to free us from the glitches, sploits and "hackers". Despite of my huge hope in this game, I'm a bit skeptical about all these promises. Personally I believe the stand alone will have much of the problems we are having now because people who play DayZ don't take hacking seriously enough. This weekend I was playing with a group of people and all of them had hacked weapons. Not the usual ones, the ones that are not in the game, like the thermal scoped sniper rifles and such. I saw people asking favor from hackers and praising them by their awesomeness in spawning ammo crates and vehicles. Just to be killed the next moment by them.Maybe the game is too difficult to the average player. Maybe they are just bored with the lack of updates/new stuff. But nothing justify the silence of the good part of the community. I know there are real players out there, who plays it because it's a challenge. I've met many online several times. But they are slowly giving up and I can understand them. Look the case of the DayZ stars Frankie and Sacriel. They can't record a session without being interrupted by "hackers".I don't know if someone agrees with me, but we should take some action against this filth that took our game. I made a promise to myself to report all hacker activity I can, and I pretend to record it on video as well, despite of it being an optional piece of information. I encourage people to do the same.Battleye is not handling so many scripters, but we can help get to them by policing ourselves. Forceflare 166 Posted September 3, 2012 The community doesn't support hackers. Arma 2 does, the community simply trolls the players who don't understand that.

I know better than to complain about hackers, because that is what they THRIVE on. They want to get attention, they want people to complain. I avoid hackers in game, and try not to glorify them outside of it. They are a MASSIVE problem though, and I really hope the standalone is properly locked down.

Jim Bean 157 Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) I'd have to say the community does to an extent. You post a thread telling people about a clan that are DEFINITELY hacking and yet because you can't provide stone wall proof you get called a liar. The community is full of 12 year old COD playing little bitch kids. Quaby 93 Posted September 3, 2012 Probably because once you've gone through life number ten or so you have next to nothing to do. Except for the "fun" cycle of gearing up, running to airfield, and dying.
zombie3000@hotmail.co.uk 27 Posted September 3, 2012 What exactly do you want the community to do? Im pretty sure some server admins are grouping together to get a list of known hackers. However if you have no proof to support the claim then you're wasting everyone's time.Get the cheating players names & report them to the server admin of the server that YOU were playing on in future (if you can). If its the admins who are cheating then just find another server & let them wallow in their own mess. You could just wait & hope the stand alone version has better protection...but even if it does they'll still be hackers (just like every other fps). Or just do what i do. Find another server & start again. Im more worried about falling off rocks than a hack attack these days.

eckertkk.eckert@gmail.com 10 Posted September 3, 2012 I can understand your frustration, but it's because arma was not specifically made with pvp in mind, and like others have said, it naturally supports these scripts. However, another part of this issue is there are a lot of incompetent server admins out there. If you have competent admins, it causes the server to become much more secure. I know, because a couple friends and myself, were sick of the situation, so we made our own server, and it was definitely the right decision. As a result, I have seen how many script kiddies/hackers are out there, and it's way more than I thought. I'm talking not just hundreds, but probably thousands. Anyway, keep your head up, try not to take it too seriously, and if you want I can recommend servers that are run well and more secure as a result.
deadlykenny 37 Posted September 3, 2012 Well, An independent statistic said that 60% of the DayZ community were USING hacks, the most part of this are little children getting hold of scripts and hacks made by the smart people, the actual hackers are much less annoying and mainly create the hacks just for the challenge of creating them, So unfortunately most of the DayZ community are hackers which is proberbly why they "troll" you, my advice is to not listen to them, instead listen the the 40-50% of the DayZ community who are not kids who have downloaded a hack.
BTK (DayZ) 12 Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) I never understood why players should report cheater in the first place. It's of no use for (us) server admins, really. So don't value the cheat report section too much.I go through the server logs everyday and ban all cheater that I find. That's all we can do. No reports needed. I ban an average of 5 cheater per day. soulessfaith 4 Posted September 3, 2012 sadly your hopes that the stand alone game will be...hack free are jsut going to let you down....the truth about this or any game for that matter is no matter how hard the devs try to keep it from being hacked, somebody will ALWAYS find a way to hack it no game is hack proof, the best thing that would stop hackers is constant updates that change things and mess up the hacks and scripts forcing the users to play legitly until said hacks and scripts are working again....but constant updates are a horribly thing.i would be lying if i said i have never thought about using hacks....i have and im not going to lie about it, but what i can say is that even if i wanted to use them i couldnt (not because i think hacking is wrong, seriously i hack the shit out of cod and various other fps games) i wouldnt use hacks because dayz and arma 2 are differnt from those games and i love that, now dont take me wrong if i found an unsuspecting hacker and killed him, ide take his stuff but aslong as it was a gun you can already find in the game but sadly most hackers dont do that...to be honest the hackers that spawn in thier gear and do nothing else but that, i find them to be...more acceptable simply because they arnt teleporting infront or behind you and just killing you, they are just gearing up to do who knows what, maybe go camp cherno or somethingbut at any rate, hackers will always be around no matter what, you just have to get used to it sadly enough

Maxgor 2314 Posted September 3, 2012 The community isn't silent about it, we just know by now that there's very little that can be done right now till standalone releases with those scripts closed out.
nicraM 137 Posted September 3, 2012 You are not your pixels. With that in mind, go out and have some fun. Understand that this mod, will never be fixed. Nor, will it ever even leave alpha stage. The new standalone version is being released in the next few months as a prebuild alpha product for another premium. (I say another, because most of us bought ARMA 2 for the DayZ mod)With that said, just play in and around the coastal cities. Don't worry about gathering supplies or weapons. You will eventually find a groove and can find enjoyment in something, in the game. If you can't, then you are an unimaginative motherfucker and need to go back to CoD.
colekern 1364 Posted September 3, 2012 I wouldn't be so skeptical. The reason they can't fix hacks and stuff is because of Amra 2. It's a very trusting engine. Whenever DayZ's modified engine comes out, the issues should be resolved.

Max Planck 7174 Posted September 3, 2012 Ok, hands up those who actually read the OP.He is not complaining about hacks as much as the fact that reporting them gets you trolled and ridiculed. He is saying we should try to do something about the problem instead of going 'meh' and then taking a piss on those who report cheaters in the cheat report forum. It might be naive to think that we can actually stop the cheaters, but it is a lot better than this: "If you can't, then you are an unimaginative motherfucker and need to go back to CoD."Okay? Okay.

puppetworx 474 Posted September 3, 2012 Maybe the game is too difficult to the average player.This. The greatest thing about this game is the steep learning curve, something that almost all games seem to lack these days. I remember when racing simulators didn't have 5 different types of driver assistance and you had to actually trail brake and feed the throttle in to be fast for example. The average person out there just wants to fart around on an XBOX with something they can "master" in 5 minutes and when they can't they ditch the game or they find a way an easy way to get past their own limits (i.e. scripting).
AzVirus 25 Posted September 3, 2012 Most people do not script because the game is hard. They are doing it out of boredom and the rise they get from people complaining,
osirish 165 Posted September 3, 2012 Agree with you 100% OP. It is disheartening when cheater report posts are filled with ...."It's an alpha." "QQ." "Go play another game." "Here we go again." "Screen shots/Vids or it didn't happen."If a player cares about the mod enough to come on to the forums to make a post about a cheater experience, either don't respond, or be supportive."agree." "+1." "That sucks." "Report it to the server admin." ..... responses would be a lot quicker to make and not signal you out as a douchebag.TBH, when a cheater report is met with derision and hostility, i believe that it is those very posters that are the cheaters themselves, as evidenced from other fps communities. "seems legit." "no cheating, just better playing." "not cheating, just more skilled." "naming and shaming not allowed on the forums, reported." ... those type of posts are usually made by players already banned, currently cheating, or by players with bans in their history.
