I think I just crapped.

Recommended Posts

So, it was just turning day on my server with very few people online, around five or six people.

Anyway. Recently, I've been reading the DayZ Urban Legends thread. So, this kind of didn't help matters.

Back on topic. I was en route to Polana to commandeer a boat, not too worried about taking a shot because of the lack of people online.

So, I scurried out of the treeline and hit the road, a straight line into Polana.

The zombie count was low, it was still raining and a little dark. This didn't bode well with me at all. Not in the slightest. The only noise I could hear was the pitter patter of the rain on the asphalt. As I approached the bend in the (edit: ROAD) I saw it. A light. I just assumed it was a newcomer, however it was moving a little too fast and the light wasn't wobbling as if the character was running. Then I saw the big steel beast heading straight for me. It didn't slow or deviate from it's path. It just came straight for me.

I unleashed a volley of fire from my M16A2 directly into the window. The truck was still steaming straight toward me. Another burst. Then another.

The truck stopped.

I got the kill.

But seriously. I almost crapped.

I had to abort and go and get a coffee after that encounter.

My heart was beating double-time. I was shaking as I spooned the coffee into the mug.

It was horrifying, exhilarating.

I want to do that again.

Haha!

At first I was thinking, "Steal Beast!? WTF Hacks much!" as if some guy had a huge skin in place of the normal player skin that was some sort of big robot about 2-3 times taller than a player, with lights as eyes. (Like head lights) I just pictured that coming at you, until I read on of course.

Good times though, good times...

A nice, short n' sweat story.

 :beans:

I've been playing this game for over a month, and my hands still shake after every gunfight.

It's strange what an adrenaline rush this game gives you. The last time I played me and a few friends were heading to Cherno from inland and stopped by one of the forts close to the coast (can't remember the name). It was dark and we were using a flashlight to see. Next moment I see a flashlight down in the treeline and tell everyone in my group to switch theirs off. They definitely saw us, because a few seconds later shots were fired in our direction, but wildly, meaning they didn't know where exactly we were. We headed into the fort and I proceeded to try and throw flares all around the fort from the top to light up the area while the two others stood guarding the door for anyone stupid enough to come in after us.

Long story short, five players rushed the fort, and the two guys at the bottom managed to take out two before being killed themselves (we were carrying really crap guns and only of the two below had a primary weapon). The guys then proceeded to head up, not knowing I was sitting up there. As they came up the stairs I managed to off one with my Enfield and broke another's legs before they killed me. All through this I was actually physically shaking as if it was really happening.

It sounds stupid to retell the tale, and it sounds a boring story, but when you're there, in that moment, WOW. No other game can compare to the exhilaration you feel in that moment.

This. So much.

It's amazing, I love it. I cannot wait for the standalone.

What noise did you make when it was happening?

Buh?

Nuh?

Guh?

I tend to make a 'DYaAaAaA~' noise when something unexpected and ultimately deadly is happening to me.

This one time at band camp, i almost shit myself, so close a turtle head was poking out.

The server had roughly 7-8 players ingame, i was casualy running through an open padock when spotted a crashed heli, using my DMR to snuff out the military & pilot zombies from a safe distance before going in for the loot, when i got just meters from the heli gunfire rang out and bullets started wizzing past my head and could hear them land all around me, i zig zagged like never before, i high tailed it outta there, i was like "fuck the loot, its not worth it, still the bullets were hitting the ground either side of me as i zig zagged for least 300-400 meters till got over the top of a hillside, i felt like one of those ducks at a carnival shooting range lol.

Ah, the good old zigzag tactic. It's always so much fun when an inexperienced sniper is unable to hit you because you're zigzagging.

Inexperienced or not, serpentine is always better than running in a straight line.
