welch 11 Posted August 30, 2012 It is in the game/book of Metro 2033. It does mean the Fourth Reich, which is started by a group of Russian fascists. I know it represents a Nazi group, but it's a make-up Nazi group, so is it still bad? Is there a rule against this?
capitainedesolation@yahoo.fr 119 Posted August 30, 2012 I don't find it offensive, I find it to be rather funny even. But I understand why you shouldn't put that on forums.I'd say, keep it to "private" stuff, like skype, instant messaging software, etc, where only you and your friends can see it. Hetstaine 10852 Posted August 30, 2012 I would say if the mods have deemed it unfit for the forum then you need to suck it up and find something not associated with the nazis in any shape or form :)
Zymi 64 Posted August 30, 2012 I can understand why but I have no problem with it. There's a few display pictures going around that I would describe as more inappropriate though.
VBS.Redlof.B 43 Posted August 30, 2012 It's pretty obvious that it's from Glukhovskys' work, and I do see why you'd want that as your avatar (because Metro kicks ass), but it's still a little bit... offensive. Especially if someone doesn't know where it's from. It'd be easy to just assume you're a neo-nazi.You could try a flag/symbol representing the Hanza, if the flag idea is what you're going for (Here). HappyMushroom 68 Posted August 30, 2012 Change it from red to any other colour. Not offensive anymore.

And I don't know the meaning behind the word Hansa... If I remember right, it's got something to do with a Medieval Germany group...

I know it represents a Nazi group, but it's a make-up Nazi group, so is it still bad? Is there a rule against this?Nope, can't see why people who play, talk about and moderate on a game that is essentially encouraging us to shoot each other in the head from hilltops and firestation towers would be offended by a fictional symbol that represents nothing in the real world.Given that there are hundreds of posts on here with players boasting about the murder of other players. There is no moral high ground here.Unless it is a copyright issue. But then again, how many of the moderators have permission from Heinz to use the imagery in their signatures and avatars? If I remember right, it's got something to do with a Medieval Germany group...These guys are basically a "trading" faction (named after the medieval group, yep) who used to get in skirmishes with communists over a couple stations around the red line. They're generally neutral if I remember correctly, but they're pretty much the closest thing to a stable society in the Metro. They got pretty rich pretty quick by basically being made up of trading posts intersecting every other major line.

I've also seen that emblem around, I just like the whole "3-pronged" symbol look, anyone have one that doesn't entirely represent executing people and forcing them into work camps....? Inception. 9443 Posted August 30, 2012 There's nothing wrong with having that.Even if someone HAD THE NAZI SYMBOL, a mod shouldn't give one a warning point for doing so. Perhaps it's one's belief? That would be descrimination towards one's belief, regardless of what the belief is.
RaysGoodLiquor 93 Posted August 30, 2012 Yes. It's against international hurt feelings laws to have a red square within 20 yards of a white circle. Want to get offended over a flag? Look at the American flag. The European occupation of North America was the holocaust times 10.
slartibartfast (DayZ) 77 Posted August 30, 2012 it is also very similar to the Ilse of Man flag - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Manit would seem that you have struck an overly sensitive Mod here.I have had a wee think about this and have to say that it is censorship at it's absolute worst. MGreenwald 49 Posted August 30, 2012 Who cares if someone finds it offensive, people need to get over themselves.. whats wrong with this country as it is, everyone bends over backwards to please everyone... F**k that, you dont like something stfu and deal with it your own way..
ratiasu@hotmail.co.jp 122 Posted August 30, 2012 With people like that mod we'd still be censoring the crap out of Nazi stuff in the year 3000... It happened 70 years ago. Jeez...On a personal note: I find the israeli flag a lot more offensive. The crap they're doing takes away their rights to complain about WW2 imho.
Sakeoe (DayZ) 115 Posted August 30, 2012 Don't worry OP I got 3 warnings and a 1 week ban and not a single mod responded to my pm's to ask why. They warn and ban based on wether they like you or not rather than breaking the forum guidelines.
-MadTommy 367 Posted August 30, 2012 Fucking hell you lot are a bunch of complete idiots that have replied in this thread with support. Banging on about censorship etc.Its because of morons like you that the human race never learns from its own history and mistakes. Any support of Nazi ideals through symbology should not be tolerated, grow up and find another image, there is no justification to use Nazi symbols on a public arena. If you want to wallpaper your own bedroom with Nazi symbols go for it, god help you.Ratiasu my 95 year old grandmother who had her husband and brother murdered by the Nazis does not think 70 years is long enough to forget about it... you sir are a ill educated moron.
