Maybe, it will all depend on how you respond to my voice communication.

If you you say nothing, try to run at me with a weapon, or even raise the weapon in my direction, I shoot.

If you call out friendly, lower your weapon or run away I will probably leave you alone, I try to help people if I can but considering the current status of how the general community plays Day Z I tend to shoot first and ask later.

I've been killed by heroes before, and I've never been helped out of the blue by a hero, so yes, I will shoot you. A nice hero once gave me a full set of equipment and an M107, such was his (unwilling) kindness.

I happen to have an aks 74-kobra and a hero skin I've had for a few days. I was at Rog Por castle and I literally had an armed survivor run to me for aid....

He was bleeding and had no bandage so what did I do? I bandaged him and gave him a blood transfusion, since I respected him not just trying to kill me for my coyote bag and what not. I believe that like myself if you give them a chance they will treat you well. I say this mainly because a hero is typically more experienced and has been around longer and is usually more approachable. If you see me don't be afraid I'm simply here to help you survive the apocalypse =P

I probably won't shoot you unless I assume you're about to shoot at me (or in fact do), but if you say you're friendly, then we can both live and part ways. Bear in mind I would have my gun trained on you till you were well out of my way. I don't trust anyone in the game, not even heroes. So don't take it personally.

Never seen a Hero in my 3 weeks on Dayz. After being shot while in the driver seat of a fully broken vehicle (Obviously i was a massive threat with my inability to fire or move) i now shoot anyone i see. Not that i want to kill people, but i no longer trust the Dayz community......Sadly.

I have the hero skin and I still get shot on sight all the time. I would try to trust people and help them but not any more unless I'm with a group and we come across one guy. The other day we help a guy in Stary who was going to die to zombies in the tents. We chat with him for a bit after we fix him up and a few mins later he kills both of us for nothing, he even had better gear. That was kinda the last straw for me.

I would shoot you on site, not for the weapon but because on all bar one occasion I have let people live they have either found a pistol later or an axe or something and done me in. Maybe I should have left the area as well.

Plus a Hero skin counts for nothing. When the humanity was first brought back in I was at -40k. Now I am +2500, and that is not through choice, I just haven't found anyone to kill lately.

I run in a group of 5 active players, with another 2 or 3 less active players and we do a lot of blooding each other etc. so my humanity shot up.

I miss my bandit skin lol.

I had the hero skin, simply because I didnt come across many unfriendly survivors.

Most of the time I see them and make sure they know that they are spotted by a friendly fellow who doesn't want to kill them.

Had my first murder yesterday, when a survivor tried to kill me ... no my hero skin is gone .

It s a catch-22 -> You Survivor (getting shot cause nobody knows if you re friendly or not) -> you bandit ( same ) -> hero ( same, gear, bandits, etc) . No matter what you do or how you look or how cautious you are -> Sooner or later you will die.

That's kinda like saying in real life, oh this guy's just murdered someone and got off scott free. Fuck it, everyone must be like him, i'm going to walk around with bulletproof vests and a loaded gun on me at all times. Don't let one asshole ruin your humanity (that applies in game and real life)

Because as soon as they get the survivor skin again, shooting each other will decrease humanity more than healing will increase it.
