Best Weapon for a Hero?

As someone who just recently started the hero path, I was curious what weapons you other heroes use? Do you try to stick to something that will down someone in a shot like the Winchester? Do you try to stick with not as powerful guns that will down with headshots like the SMGs? Or do you use plain old fashion firepower just like a bandit would? Ive been using the Winchester recently to take out bandits, and also use it against survivors that haven't hit me but attempted to. That way I can down them, and only lose a small chunk of humanity, making me able to escape. Sometimes I even bandage them for a few humanity points before my escape and to make sure they don't die with their blood on my hands aha. Any opinions on the best hero weapon in your eyes? (Bandit input more than welcome) Thanks.

i favor a M9SD when dealing with patients, its not too intimidating and allows for silent disposal of stray Zed.

When traveling the wilderness and highlands, i usually carry my trusty Mk48: you can one-shot most single targets, its inventory-efficient with a ratio of 50 bullets per inventory slot, and you can unleash a shitstorm of lead and fire upon the land when the need arises.

When looting cities, alone or in team, hatchet is definitely the weapon of my choice.

of course, those are personal preferences not related to my hero skin.. i can definitely recommend the hatchet though, its more efficient than the crowbar - although the crowbar may be percieved as more stylish :)

Dead wrong. Flashlights actually work at night. You might blind someone and do some damage to their retinas, eventually losing your humanity for doing so. Can't go wrong with a good old fashioned broken crowbar of happiness.

Before i lost my hero skin i used to use an AKS-74 Kobra. Not the most threatening gun and it packs a punch for self defense. I could typically run up to an injured or overwhelmed player with my weapon down and we would talk over direct and go on our ways. Sometimes i would administer medical supplies and whatnot but it was a good experience.

An M249 SAW. That's a serious answer.

Edit: To expound, it doesn't do that much damage per hit, 3555/per, but one or two shots will knock someone out. It's audible range is low as heck, meaning you can use it in towns without getting mobbed (playing smart of course), clip size is best in the game, and if other players are within hearing distance of this gun, best believe they are hitting the dirt and considering their next option. The terrifying sound this gun makes and the full auto on it makes it instill fear in the hearts of CQB bandits (the worst kind).

Does make sense. If its a bandit you'll still be able to kill them and if you don't play recklessly you can always get the jump. If someones not a bandit yet, but they attack you and miss, I'll lose less humanity if I defend myself to escape.

See, I have yet to come across a m249, m240 (unless it was the in the chopper i owned for a whopping half and hour), or a mk48. They're a pain to find due to the high traffic of the airfield. Not a bad combo though.

... and you are not good at this DayZ thing ... there is no need to visit the airfield anymore ... everyone and his mother got NVGs, Sniper Rifles, AR's, GPS & plenty of ammo ... MAYBE some people come to the airfield to enjoy the modern art graphic glitches ...

M16A4 ACOG. Unparalleled AR accuracy, great mid to long range with headshots (just learned to use an ACOG scope, the lines have meaning!), great for scouting ahead before rushing, and looks great with the Hero outfit.

After that the M4A3 CCO, another great weapon.

M14 Aim and DMR with the M9 sd as your side thats all you need, thats my hero loadout.

I'm a hero and I roll FN FAL. Pretty abundant gun at heli crash sites, ammo less so but I always find enough. I don't take kindly to folks shooting, threatening or trying to rob me so I want a powerful gun to knock them on their ass. The FN FAL does 8000 damage per hit, which means a lot of people will go down with one hit. Great range, accurate and very, very loud. It scares the pants off the folks in Cherno/Elektro. M14 is another good choice, less accurate but you'll find more ammo for it.
