So no continuity? Nothing to do but kill random people and hack?

Recommended Posts

I personally thing the mod has ran out of steam, it built up such momentum and that was in my eyes down purely to the way the players presented the game rather than the content. The mod itself is rather crude and the content isn't that different from Arma2, however the stories, the videos and drama made the mod what it was. Unfortunately when you have played it for months and nothing has changed apart from more bugs and increased hackers you lose interest and move on.

I hope standalone is worth rekindling my past love for DayZ but at the same time I think Rocket is too busy spouting bullshit at every possible conference attempting to make out that this game is something different, that he wants to give the players tools to create their own mechanics... but then goes back on it by introducing something as badly designed as the humanity system... I think he's just trying to polish a turd and drum up interesting. Most of my friends who play games know about DayZ so I can't see his constant attendance at conventions pointful.

Finally on my QQ, if the development of this reflects how the standalone will be developed then I won't be interested. I don't mind change but when Rocket does AMAs and then a few days later announces a change like "Removing debug" even though a tiny percentage of the community actually asked for that but hasn't managed to fix artifacting or even roll back then I question how the stand alone will go. I can't see the hacker situation being any better as they will just pass the blame to BattlEye saying it is out of our control. Hmm... I think I've already made my mind up, DayZ was cool but seeing as Guild Wars 2 has just been released I probably won't bother... each update feels like 1 step forward and 3 backwards, 1 being content and 3 being the game breaking bugs and glitches that won't be fixed.

It makes no sense. Take a look at this

I don't need to give you suggestions on how to fix it. Hell I don't even have to know how this shit works. Yet I still can say that it's not working properly, can't I?

Y

You wouldn't be testing it in the first place. More of a reason why Rocket made the mistake releasing a mod to the internets to test in its current state.

This mod isn't going to be fixed anytime soon! You want to know why it won't be fixed? Well for one, it's built around a shit engine, and two, if everyone is sick and tired of the mod being broken, where is everyone else going to turn? The standalone. Cha-ching, Rocket cashes in big time.

no ofc not.. but sitting at saying

ITS IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THERE IS BUGS IN THIS GAME.. ITS UNPLAYABLE.. bla bla bla.. isnt what i call good feedback..

and im not saying ppl are in this thread, but when you follow the forums a bit you see a tendency that people just go QQ'ing about all small things in DayZ even stuff the developers cant control, for instance hackers..

Yeah I agree. Demanding flawless game while being an alpha tester is retarded. But if they post what the problems are even if they do it in an angry manner, it's a good, valuable feedback. No need to flame those people or try to prove that they're wrong. Just tell them that this and that is a known problem and to calm down. And that list of things that devs know about, would be a lot of help.

For instance, many people complains about the gfx glitches that dead soldiers make, and sometime wire fences.. and ofc thats good feedback, and if you follow the patch notes, wich i know you are.. from other posts... :D... then you can see that they are trying to fix the problem.. but trying to fix it, can take some times.. cause in games there is usally 100.000's lines of code, if not more.. and to pinpoint a problem can take a while, and even if you find it.. fixing it might cause a whole new can of bugs being opened.. so it can be a time consuming process..

But it's okay that they talk about it. Thanks to that devs know that the problem is still there. And the bigger the problem the more people will post about it.

Why? He gets a lot of feedback, even if people do it in a demanding or angry manner, they pinpoint the problems pretty good. What is he loosing by having open alpha? Plus it got many people to buy standalone. I can't see any disadvantages.

You fanboys forget one thing. Nobody pays us to test this. I need a reason to keep testing it. And when I'm not getting paid the reason will either be fun or feeling good about contributing and watching the mod grow.

Well sorry but fun is out of the question. As OP described. FFA DM on a big map while being repetitively killed by script kiddies is as good as this game gets.

Now about helping this game grow. With the constant flaming from you fanboys in every topic that criticizes something in this game and almost 0 communication from devs I don't feel like I'm working on something and contributing at all. It's like playing a game full of bugs and broken things, coming here talking about those things only to get flamed by you while you hide behind "alpha" and "antigame" and other bullshit while the devs do fuck except adding things nobody cares about and breaking even more things.

In conclusion if you want me to test your "alpha" and if I'm not getting paid and I don't really feel like I'm helping this game's development at least make the testing fun.

Nobody cares if you play the game or not. If you don't want to be part of the development stage then fuck off and wait for the game to be released. Nobody is forcing you to play but no, instead you have to have the Dv's personally talk to you and update you. Yes the game is buggy and it's irritating but it's not even beta yet. These guys do have jobs so why should they have to update you on something your getting for free again.

Go develop your own mod then and come back when you know what it's like.

Yeah ofc its okey to talk about it.. and give angry feedback.. but..

take in account most of the developers properly have other jobs to attend to make actual money.. then i really cant complain about they dont inform the players that well

and yes angry feedback is okey.. but most people.. and you properly have to admit that aswell.. they just QQ there lungs out. without actually saying what the problem is..

Ohh yes I love this kind of posts, lets break it down.

Nobody cares if you play the game or not.

If they didn't want people to test this, they wouldn't have made open alpha would they?

If you don't want to be part of the development stage then fuck off and wait for the game to be released.

Oh I want to be a part of the development stage. But every time I came here to point out what's wrong with the game, fanboys like you would flame me, call me a codfag or whatever, tell me to stop complaining because it's free and that it's supposed to be unplayable because it's alpha. Doesn't really want me to contribute anymore really... Plus if we don't hear anything from devs, how am I supposed to know that I am helping at all? Maybe they don't care about all that at all? Maybe there is no point posting feedback on the forum because nobody cares? Flow of information only strengthens your feel of contributing and shows you that you're doing good job. Very good reason to keep testing and giving feedback.

Nobody is forcing you to play but no, instead you have to have the Dv's personally talk to you and update you.

No they don't. You can't read apparently or think that taking what I said to a retarded extreme will somehow prove my point wrong. I said that a topic of known problems and things that are being currently worked on, would be great and fix a lot of uncertainty as well as it would significantly reduce number of threads about the things that they already know about.

Yes the game is buggy and it's irritating but it's not even beta yet.

This is an alpha test. Important part of the testing is giving feedback. People come to the forum and post what's wrong with the game AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO IN AN ALPHA TEST.

These guys do have jobs so why should they have to update you on something your getting for free again.

Because we are working together? They give me a feeling that I'm helping and I help them track bugs and help them develop the game. Plus what am I getting for free exactly? An unplayable game that's no fun to play? Well, either work with me or give me a fun game. Otherwise I have no reason to help you developing the game.

Go develop your own mod then and come back when you know what it's like.

I don't need to be a painter to tell you that this http://i.imgur.com/OgCV6.gif went wrong, do I?

Yeah they have jobs. But come on, making a post on the forum about what they're working on and what they know about wouldn't take long. And they probably already have a list somewhat like that anyway. Plus, it would really clean up this forum. Lots topics are about the same thing. And yeah, people who don't actually say what's wrong with the game, clearly haven't been in any alpha/beta test and have no place here. But, if they do say what's wrong, they shouldn't be flamed or anything. They are helping after all.

"Dogs? sorry i didnt call for dogs" <-- well you didnt make the mod for free, did you?... maybe Dean wanted dogs..

"But he's just right that communication is not present at all, and we don't deserve this treatment." <--- well actually he isnt required to give you guys any news.. its still a mod for a game, made by a private man, for free.. so i dont see any problems.. if you dont like the way he communicates.. or what he adds to the game.. then basically stop playing and go back to modern warfare 3 or World of Lootcraft

Who are you ? Are you Rocket's brother ? Fanboy ? You don't need to defend everything Rocket does. The problem with dogs is that there's so much more important work to do, but implementing new features, like dogs, is not the big step we need. And yes, it's a free alpha mod, but criticism is important, otherwise the testing is useless. You know that a standalone will be released soon, so this free mod will also get business, and BI can earn some more money. That's fine with me. But BI and Rocket need the community and there feedback. Rocket will not read every thread here but he gets a good impression what's going on. And by the way, Rocket said that he needs the fans and the haters too.

I agree actually, but in the end they are not obligated to do so. and if it was me. im not sure i would do a better job then them. because working a job for money, and working on a mod, and also spend time with familie etc.. that wouldnt give me much time for forum posts.

But yeah a post once in a while about how it goes, what they are working on, and what bugs there might be. would be nice :)

Here's a wonderful idea.

Don't like the game? Has too many bugs and full of hackers. Nothing else to do?

Then don't play it. Arma 2's a good game. Play that.

The game was released to the public pretty much by accident, and not by Rockets intent. He had it going with his own peoples, and was down with it.

It became popular, that's about it. He was an ANTI-DICK about it, and allowed it to stay public, and the internets was glad.

Just because many folks here want more means jack really.

He made a nice mod folks like and want to play. That did not make magical time and money for him to develop it. He still has a life out side of this and a job.

A new job now too and responsibility to that.

No one expects anyone here to play this game if they don't like it or want to.

It's not that I demand something from them like I'm entitled to it. I'm not, I didn't pay for the game so they don't have to give me anything in return. It's sort of a trade. They give me a fun game to play or a feeling that I'm contributing and I give them as detailed info about bugs and broken or missing features as I can. If not, then I'm out because I have no reason to stay, and I don't expect them to stop me or miss me. But if they do want people to test and give feedback, they need to give something in return. Nobody's gonna waste their time on an unplayable game then waste more time on posting feedback just to be insulted by fanboys and ignored by devs.

That's what I'm more or less seeing now... There's no point even looking for stuff like night vision goggles, it just makes you a target for the hackers. Can't get vehicles, takes hours sometimes fixing them, by the time you fix them you gotta log off, and when you log back on they're gone... Tents don't save, or they save and give you unlimited items making them fucking stupid. No wonder people just run around shooting you on sight, THERE'S NOTHING ELSE TO DO. No wonder people hack, they spent the money buying ARMA2, they probably figure they're going to at least get a bit of fun out of it, and if they get banned then oh well they were sick of dealing with the constant glitches and BS and hearing nothing about anything ever getting fixed. But oh wait, there might be dogs.

For me, there's no point in doing much of anything but finding a couple weapons, and hunting other players along the coast. There's no point spending 30 minutes running inland to build up your gear, or find GPS/NightVision/Any of that junk, why spend hours doing that when it's inevitiable that a hacker or some stupid glitch will just take it all away. You can't back any of your items up, no way to store things, so wtf let's just find guns and kill random people. It's just stupid...

Scumbag OP, justifies hacking with bugs and hackers.

Hey! I got any idea! If everyone hacked we wouldn't need to worry about hackers! We could roam around the land until we found a place to setup a base or in search of super hacker vehicles. Then we'd need some hacking zombies to attack us to make it a little challenging and maybe some hacking guns that wouldn't let us hack them in out of thin air. Then maybe an occasional super hacker player that would kill us for our beans.

If only there was a game like that.

OMG, you never have to wait long until somebody needs to get insulting. I hate hackers too, but he's not so wrong saying that having nothing to achieve in the game will result in more hackers.

Dense responses like this make my forum posting enjoyable...

I'm not justifying anything, I'm trying to say that the reason we have so many hackers are because so many people are fed up with the game, and don't even care if they get banned.
